I'm sitting here watching the first Disney Channel film to carry the "Disney Channel Original Movie" banner. It is called "Northern Lights" and it first aired in 1997. It stars Diane Keaton and has a cameo appearance from Tom Cavanaugh (Ed Stevens from "Ed").
Anyway, it is really good. It isn't like the contemporary Disney Channel films that are geared toward the 'tween crowd. This is a pretty mature film that the whole family can watch.
Well, I thought I'd send out this recommendation for any of the Disney fans out there looking for some Disney movie to go search for. It is unavailable on DVD (even though I have a copy of it), but Alliance did put out a VHS. So check out your local video store or library and enjoy this underappreciated heartwarming Disney movie.
