i wonder if the logo truly replicates the disney pictures logo...so the train will be replaced with icesleds..and the houses with igloos and the ship with a whale...and aurora replacing fireworks over the iceberg castle .that would be neat.
do you still wait for me Dream Giver?

Are you talking about Princess Aurora or the aurora that is the Northern Lights? I was very confused when reading your post, and I think you're talking about the latter, because I don't figure where Princess Aurora would fit in. But that's be pretty neat. :P

I just checked out the official Disneynature website. I looks good, but it works like crap. I think it's a problem with Flash Player. Anybody else have problems on the site? Here's the link:

It works, but requires some high end bandwidth and machine processing power to run smoothly.

I have a question about the Disneynature film "Earth". According to some news posted on the main page of UD, this film will be released on April 22, 2009 (Earth day).

But there is one thing that boggles me. In The Netherlands a DVD (and Blu-ray) was released by independent Dutch Film Works with the exact same title AND the exact same logo as presented for the film Earth on the Disneynature site. Even the directors Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield are the same.
A Dutch review (http://www.dvd.nl/reviews.php?reviewid=3401) mentions this film was released in Dutch theaters in 2007 and is a 90-minute edit of the BBC series "Planet Earth".

So what is the story behind this film?? Is it a re-issue of this film (in The Netherlands available on DVD and Blu-ray!) to theaters or will the Disneynature version be a different edit from the same source material? Or is it the first USA-release of the same film and will it not be released under the Disneynature brand outside the USA (and should I buy the Dutch Film Works version to be able to have a complete Disneynature collection in the future?)?

@ bambi_nl

That's an interesting find, though I wouldn't know anything about it. I hope somebody else can give you an answer.

[sarcasm]Disney are really making sure people don't confuse the Disneynature Films label with Walt Disney Pictures. Earth is conveniently featured on the Walt Disney Pictures website.[/sarcasm]

What I've heard is that Europe was the only place that got Earth. So it's new to America, they're just repackaging it.

Ah... that would make some sense then. So I probably will need to buy the currently released version to be able to have a complete Disneynature collection in the future?

@akhenaten: The complete BBC series is also available on DVD and Blu-ray over here in The Netherlands. It is also available at Amazom.com on Blu-ray for USD99.98

OMG! So they're just picking up an already-produced documentary and slapping the Disney label in front of it? Now that's innovation!

Does anybody happen to know the theatrical release date for The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos?

I checked IMDB but the release date they have there, December 17, 2008, is for France. Anybody know the North American release date?

Anybody excited for the upcoming Disneynature productions? I know one of Britain's most famous wildlife photographers and TV presenters - Simon King - is currently filming cheetahs in the Masai Mara for African Cats: Kingdom of Courage, according to his twitter anyway and anything he takes is top notch so I'm excited for that, and it's being directed by Alastair Fothergill, who produced The Blue Planet and Planet Earth. Also excited for Hidden Beauty: A Love Story that Feeds the Earth as I really love macro shots. Here are the upcoming productions:

Hidden Beauty: A Love Story that Feeds the Earth – In this film, nature is ready for its close-up, as exacting macro photography takes us to the realm of flowers and their pollinators. Acclaimed filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg introduces us to a bat, a hummingbird, a butterfly and a bumblebee, demonstrating their intricate interdependence and how life on earth depends on the success of these determined, diminutive creatures. Hidden Beauty is produced by Blacklight Films and Alix Tidmarsh. Worldwide release 2011.

African Cats: Kingdom of Courage – Audiences will get to meet three mothers – a lioness, a leopard and a cheetah – as they explore their world on the great plains of Africa. Co-directed by Keith Scholey and Alastair Fothergill and produced by Alix Tidmarsh, this film will show how these magnificent animals survive on their power and their cunning, while they protect and teach their cubs the ways of the wild. Worldwide release 2012.

Chimpanzee - Fothergill and Mark Linfield co-direct this intimate look at the world of chimpanzees, with Christophe Boesch, head of the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation, serving as principal consultant and Alix Tidmarsh as producer. To be shot over three years in the tropical jungles of the Ivory Coast and Uganda, Chimpanzee will help us better understand this exceptionally intelligent species. Worldwide release 2013.

Orangutans: One Minute to Midnight – Directed by Charlie Hamilton James and produced by Frédéric Fougea, this film tells the true story of a six-year-old male orangutan and his little sister, who must take an incredible journey to find a home and a family. Worldwide release 2014

Does anyone know when Oceans is out in the UK? I've heard that it was out a few months ago so I must have missed it but I'm not certain

Seems news coming out of the Disneynature department is slow.

What's the word on a theatrical release of Hidden Beauty? I'm assuming it's going to be released theatrically in Europe like Crimson Wing. Any word on it coming to North America, or will it be a straight-to-DVD release here like Crimson Wing?

I see the trailer was pulled from Youtube. I wonder why?

Disneynature news has been kinda quiet lately. With African Cats coming out soon, is Chimpanzee still slated for a 2012 release? Has anyone seen a trailer for it yet?

For any of you that are in France, can you verify if this one is playing there:

I take it it's the one that will be titled Hidden Beauty here in North America, is that correct?

If any of you have seen it, let us know how it is. But I'm wondering if this one will bypass us like Crimson Wing did.

Here's the trailer:
