Help Please - Region 2 Lady & The Tramp Owners

Post by New Collector »

Recently bought Lady & The Tramp from a dealer on E Bay, I am a little concerned about the DVD being genuine. :?

If you have a a region 2 copy of this disc, can you check for me on the underside of the disc near the centre, is there any wording etched into the disc, All my other Disney DVD's have Technicolor, and the name of the film and Cat number etched on the disc, my lady & the tramp disc only has what looks like a bar code etched onto the disc.

I ask this as this seller on e bay is selling them as genuine discs for a lot of money, and they even carry the disney hologram on the back cover.

Thanks in advance.

This is probably because it is from the time when Warner distributed Buena Vista discs in the UK.

I don't actually have any of the Warner distributed discs, but it is likely that Warner also organised the manufacturing and used a different company?

Perhaps somebody who does own some of the early UK releases can check?

All of the initial "limited edition" discs (although they are not marked as such) and the initial barebones releases of Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo and Sword in the Stone.

I think Aladdin and the King of Thieves was too - but I also think A-KoT has been reissued by Buena Vista themselves. Perhaps all of the titles I mentioned have been re-issued by Buena Vista themselves?

If you look at the small print on the back, is Warners mentioned anywhere?

We'll have to see if anyone else has a Warner distributed Disney disc and hope that they post.
