I think that "Hercules" & THoND will get rereleased sometime in the near future- they are, after all, rereleasing titles that had been in the Gold Collection (I know that THoND wasn't in the GC, but it's still close enough in format). I'd say just give it time...
Of course, the new editions aren't much better than the GC, except maybe for a somewhat cleaner picture quality.

I know that the Platinum schedule is well-known (Sleeping Beauty, then Pinoccio, etc.) but what do we actually know of the lesser special editions? Do we know what's coming after The Sword in the Stone? I heard it was supposed to be Oliver and Company. Does Disney have a release schedule anywhere for such titles?

I'm sure there is some method to the madness that is Disney's release schedule, but the public will never know what it is for sure.steve wrote:I know that the Platinum schedule is well-known (Sleeping Beauty, then Pinoccio, etc.) but what do we actually know of the lesser special editions? The most advance warning i can think of for a release is when it's previous release is put away in the vault. Whether that be secretly or not. for the past few years, at least 9-10 months before the lesser titles are released again they are put in the vault. This has been the case for Winnie the Pooh, Pocahontas, Mulan, Dumbo, The Fox and the Hound, Robin Hood, and The Sword in the Stone. If Oliver & Company is put in the vault sometime in the next few months I'd say expect a re-release by December '08-February '09.

actually ALL of them got water...except rhapsody...which got frozen water skated upon.heheBelleGirl wrote:True, Fantasia 2000 contains a lot of water! Just look at the segments "Pines of Rome" " Pomp and Circumstances" and " The steadfast tin soldier" and these were just the new segments. Of all the segments of the original to be included Disney also choose the most watery: "The sourcerers apprentice"![]()
Something I notice often occurs in the original Fantasia is a lot of yawning and sleepiness. The only two segments that do not contain such a scene are "The rites of Spring" and naturally "Toccata and Fugue in D-minor".![]()
beethoven? check!
pines of rome? check!
rhapsody? semi check!
tin soldier? check!
carnival of animals? check!
sorcerer's? check!
pomp n circumstance? check check check!
firebird? CHECK!
aalllllllllllllll of it.even one review i read on the internet comment on this as well
anyways...i pray that the platinum fantasia will have a more effective LOWRY restoration and also a restored claire de lune.
and maybe they can include one by one and match girl into the fantasia 2000 reissue?
is anyone bothered by the overly bright walt disney logo in front of fantasia/200? its got an overly bright logo.

To my amazement Disney is going to release a SE of the DTV-sequel 'Jungle book 2'. Anybody here interested in this release???? Ugh! They give a cheapquel priority to an official DAC like Hunchback. Why is this movie treated as some kind of stepchild?*Makes no sense to me!blackcauldron85 wrote:I think that "Hercules" & THoND will get rereleased sometime in the near future- they are, after all, rereleasing titles that had been in the Gold Collection (I know that THoND wasn't in the GC, but it's still close enough in format). *Yes, I know Hunchback isn't everybody's favourite, but neither is Pocahontas, which got a decent SE/10th anniversary edition anyway.

That method of release sounds pretty accurate. Alice in Wonderland just went back into the Disney Vault recently, so I guess that it'll be rereleased 2009 oe 2010 sometime.singerguy04 wrote:I'm sure there is some method to the madness that is Disney's release schedule, but the public will never know what it is for sure.steve wrote:I know that the Platinum schedule is well-known (Sleeping Beauty, then Pinoccio, etc.) but what do we actually know of the lesser special editions? Intersting,Aladdin is in the list
(I"m glad it is,I think that it whould made no sense if it was kicked out from there).

Pocahontas is a beautiful but Pocahontas II is the worst Disney cheapquel ever,Pocahontas leaving John Smith???.SleepingBeautyAurora wrote:I wonder why Pocahontas 2 was not given a re-release after the Pocahontas 10th Anniversary Edition was released ? All the other sequels seem to be getting re-releases... strange isn't it ?

I'd have 2 agree. I watched for the first time on toon disney channel and i thought it sucked. I thought The Jungle Book 2 was pretty blah too, but that's coming out soon.Ariel'sprince wrote:Intersting,Aladdin is in the list(I"m glad it is,I think that it whould made no sense if it was kicked out from there).

I know that this isn't a "Pocahontas II" discussion thread, but I enjoy the film. We all know that in real life Pocahontas married John Rolfe, so it's not a huge stretch of the imagination. P2, however, is the only sequel that almost ruins the original for me, since John Smith is kind of a jerk in the sequel. I'm usually okay when watching the original, and I really like John Smith in the original, but once in a while, it'll get to me and make me feel awkward.
