High School Musical 4
I haven't seen one of these movies, however, I know that there are a lot of fans of these films, so, I am sure you'll be happy to hear this news!

'High School Musical 4' Is On The Way -- But Will Zac Efron, Other Stars Be Back?
Disney Channel president hopes at least some of the cast that made the franchise famous will be in the newly announced sequel.
By Shawn Adler
Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and the rest of the "High School Musical" gang are about to enter their senior year, but the East High Wildcats will live on with a fourth installment in the wildly successful series already under way, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"We are writing 'High School Musical 4,' " Disney Channel Worldwide President Rich Ross confirmed to the Tinseltown trade.
Stars Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman are currently preparing for "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," which will follow the sextet as they navigate their way to graduation and will be the first in the series to get a theatrical release.
Could they all return for a fourth go-round? In January, Efron told MTV News that he was ready to say goodbye to the crew, insisting that "HSM3" was "going to be the farewell to the East High Wildcats for a while. It's the third act. This is the legacy that we leave. ... I think it's going to be a good way to go out with a bang."
But Ross is crossing his fingers anyway. "Are we going to have all the cast back? Probably not," Ross told the Reporter. "Will we have some of them? I hope so."
According to the magazine, it's highly likely that some new cast members introduced in "HSM3" will continue on with the series. They include Matt Prokop, Justin Martin and Jemma McKenzie-Brown.
The script for "High School Musical 4" is currently under tight wraps, but Ross says it will have an exciting story in the proud tradition of the previous films.
"We have learned that just putting a number next to a title is a very old idea," Ross said. "We have to have a new story."
There's no word yet on whether "HSM4" will get a theatrical release or premiere on the Disney Channel.
"High School Musical 3: Senior Year" opens October 4.

Or would keeping the stars and having them unbelievably "old" for school irk the audience more? It always was a "franchise" with a limited shelf life.Prudence wrote:*Yawn*
Well, yesterday I read somewhere (and apologize for my lack of sources on this) that Olesya Rulin will continue to perform her role if and when there is a fourth movie. But at any rate, changing the stars is going to irk the audiences and most likely reduce the ratings.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I totally called this in the HSM3 thread. They're pulling a "Saved By the Bell: The New Class"- Screech stayed at Bayside, and Kelsi will stay at East High. I know that Corbin has said pretty much the same thing that Zac had- that after HSM3, it'll be time to move on. Maybe Disney can entice them to make cameos in upcoming HSM films. I'm excited for the HSM films, regardless of who's in them. I hope that Kenny Ortega will stay on board, though- he's such an itegral part of the films.
I'm very pleased about this, but I'm not surprised. If the franchise keeps on going, will I be the only 30-year-old who will be anticipating the next HSM film? I mean, I'm 23 now, but if they keep going...I'll still be interested...and so will my future children. I'm either going to be a hip, fun mom or a mom who acts young and scares her children...but this is going off-topic.
Yay, HSM4!

Sellouts. That's all I can say.
Hmm... well, maybe there's more to it than that. Disney (or at least Disney Channel) is really pushing this a little too far. I'll admit that although not the biggest fan of the franchise, I don't mind watching it once or twice, even listening to the songs every once in a while. But really, this is getting ridiculous. It's so obvious that Disney's only doing this because it's currently the best thing they've got right now. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with that, I mean it's smart. But do they not pay attention to what the critics are saying about their sequels?
Okay... maybe a lot more to it than that.

This is taking it just a tad bit too far.
Sure, "High School Musical" is fun. But let's be honest here. Is it actually quality film-making that deserves all of the hype it receives? Not at all.
And I'm not hating on HSM at all. Believe me, I own the films, the soundtracks, and even attended a performance of the Ice Tour. But I think we all know that they aren't actually good films. They're just innocent little guilty pleasures.

Really, one and even two movies were ok, a third one was like "well if they did it with POTC" but a forth one?!?!
As far as I know, after this nothing would surprise me now...not even a special edition with the long-discussed pictures...
--Hey disney, bet you could reach a new sale record---

Disney's gonna milk their cash cow 'til it bleeds. *sigh*
I wonder how the tweens and tots will take to the replacement cast, though. Especially if the "sophomore wildcats" supposedly in the third film end up with a lot of screentime. Disney might accidentally create a preemptive backlash i.e. "Who are these people? I don't care about their stupid problems! I want to see if Troy and Gabriella work out, and if Sharpay gets her whatever-etc."
It'll be interesting to see.

So, part of the HSM4 talk has probably been going on in the HSM3 thread...so time to revive this thread.
I wonder if Ashley Tisdale really will be in HSM4, since the way HSM3 ends, Sharpay is going to run the drama department at East High. Wait and see, I guess.
Mason posted this article in the Hannah Montana: The Movie thread:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090601/media_nm/us_hannah
[Disney Channel] has tapped Jeffrey Hornaday, choreographer of such movies as "Flashdance" and "A Chorus Line," to direct and choreograph the fourth "High School Musical" movie...Written by Peter Barsocchini, "High School Musical East Meets West," about the cross-town school rivalry between the East High Wildcats and West High Knights, is scheduled to premiere in 2010.
No Kenny Ortega?!?
That makes me sad. And I had read a few months ago that Matt Prokop might not be in the new one due to the plot changing from whatever it was to the East High/West High rivalry.
I think I'm more excited for Camp Rock 2 than I am HSM4. If Ashley Tisdale is in HSM4, I will be more excited. Not only do I like Ashley a lot, Sharpay is my favorite character, so I'd love to see more of her.
I wonder if, in X number of years, there will be a reunion special or movie. I'd like to see one!
