Recently watched "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie", which I got for 2.50 at a local grocery store. Surprisingly good! I mean, I usually don't like foreign zombie flicks, but I liked this one. And the lead female was really cute!
Also, I've been catching HBO's "John Adams" whenever I can. I LOVE it! (Coming into it being a huge "1776" fan) Paul Giamatti is definitely one of my favorite actors now (this settles it).

Just finished watching Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and I have to say that it was wonderful! The music, the characters, the blood (okay, it did kinda make a "sensation" in my stomach, but still good) was great to hear/see. Sweeney definitely deserves 10/10!

John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) - gave it a re-watch yesterday and... Yes, it's a little better than I usually give it credit for. A little. I've always scratched my head when I hear people saying this film is brilliant. They always talk about paranoia. I've watched this movie 6 times and have never noticed anything deeper than 4 or 5 scenes where the guys get angry and yell at each other. They are shorter than I always said they were. But I don't see more than the standard amount of plot-required "watch him closely" remarks. This movie has nothing to do with society and humanity. It's just a special effects showcase for Rob Bottin and whoever else worked on the film. This film succeeds more on production values, cinematography, lighting, and the higher quality of the scenes in the last 40 minutes of the movie. Way too long.

Hehe, I actually ordered both movies and their soundtracks from Amazon last night. I'm afraid I'm getting obsessed...Lazario wrote:I hear that! It's one of my personal favorites.nikki828 wrote:Last night I watched The Brady Bunch Movie, which is beyond hilarious.
I saw Leatherheads today. The general consensous is that the movie sucks, but I loved it. John Krasinski is my favorite, and George Clooney and Renee Zellweger were really good. Just a cute, funny movie.

Just watched "The Antichrist", AKA The Tempter. It's usually described as an Italian Exorcist rip-off. There were some awful effects and it wasn't really scary, and the star doesn't have the cuteness of Linda Blair, but I still found it enjoyable. I found everything leading up to the Exorcist wannabe scenes rather interesting.

I've seen The Brady Bunch Movie 30 times. I think I can quote every word in the movie. And it's not like the movie was just overly available to me as a kid (you know how that might be a way for young people to see a movie a lot of times), I chose in my teen years to watch the movie a ton of times. It is a total riot. Jan's inner voices are one of the funniest, coolest things in any movie of the 1990's. I'm just glad some lousy studio head didn't see this and think there wasn't enough of this kind of humor in other films to let the film do it if it wants to. That's why the 1990's was such a great decade in film. The people making the film didn't try to copy every thing they put in their movies from other popular movies that came out the week before. This movie actually had some original gags in it. Original in this case being not influenced from other popular movies of the time. Maybe some of this material was like the stuff on Saturday Night Live. But...nikki828 wrote:Hehe, I actually ordered both movies and their soundtracks from Amazon last night. The sequel is probably the better movie. Siskel gave it a Thumb Up, and he is the harder critic to please. But it just doesn't have the darkly funny crazy-Jan that the original film has. I think it was a pretty successful thing too, because I have seen that actress - Jennifer Elise Cox (I think that's her name) - playing similar roles on Will & Grace and that Lifetime show that was canceled about dating service people. I think the audience cheered and applauded when she walked on the set of her episode of Will & Grace.

Shrek 2: Not much of a fan, but I decided to watch a semi funny movie just for kicks, Puss In Boots was my fav. character, especialy his Precious face.
Lion King 1.5: Currently watching this, I think I'll reawatch the Lion King series in the following order, Lion King 1.5, Lion King and Lion King 2

"In the Land of Women" - I could care less what the critics said about it! I think it's fantastic, and it gets better and better after each viewing.
"The Princess Diaries" - While it definitely has it's flaws, they're easily surpassed by the good acting and witty screenplay. It's the perfect film for a kick-back Saturday afternoon at home. I always enjoy it.
"Leatherheads" - Mediocre, at best. It had it's moments, but the trailer made it look much better than it actually was. Also, it was far too long and could have easily been 30 minutes shorter. I didn't hate it, but I probably won't be watching it again.
"Reality Bites" - I was quite impressed! Everything about it just screamed original. I haven't seen much of Winona Ryder's work before (now that I think about it, Edward Scissorhands and The Crucible are the only other films I've seen her in), but that's definitely going to change after watching this. Any recommendations?

Heathers (1989) with Christian Slater. Since I've left high school, it's lost the bitter, cynical sting it used to have (plus- has anyone noticed that in films like this, the "bitch" characters say they are worshipped but we never see people aknowleging it? - they walk down the halls and no one seems to care yet they say they're worshipped). But it's a great film for performance sake. Winona's best I think.Prince Ali wrote:"Reality Bites" - I was quite impressed! Everything about it just screamed original. Saw Nim's Island yesterday. Pretty original, cute movie. Plus it had bearded dragons in it....I have one as a pet. That was the ONLY reason I wanted to see it. LOL But I came away liking the movie. It will be a DVD buy for sure

Full Moon High (1982) - A pretty awful parody of werewolf movies with only a few funny jokes until the ending, which features 2 great scenes. One being a hilarious take on Psycho in a role-reversal of killer chasing victim. The other being the appearence of Alan Arkin, trying to save the movie at the last minute with a hilarious psychologist character who gets a steady stream of laughs until he exits.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994) - a lot better than I give it credit for.
