And now let me predict what posts will follow:
You're a Pixar hater
Pixar are original they don't copy things, it's obviously just a coincidence
Pixar have an unbeaten track record, how dare you bash them
Disney are the ones who can't come up their own new stuff, Pixar saved Disney, they are original.

I always thought it was more of a rip-off off R.O.B.

But your guy is more convincing.

Either way I think the movie looks awesome regardless.

He looks more like Lenny from "Toy Story" atop of some treads. How dare Pixar rip themselves off!

A lot of Star Tours robots sorta resemble Johnny 5 too.

Clearly, the robot from "Wake, Rattle & Roll" has also been plagiarized:

I certainly see a lot of Johnny #5 in Wall-E. Maybe its less a rip off and more a nod to one of the best robots ever :)

so if you were anticipating these responses, what was your reasoning behind already posting them? to disarm others? making sure you're "right". Cause you wanna be right, right?

add to that list:

every idea in the history of the world has been explored. I bet there's 10 more Robots from more obscure movies WALL*E looks like.

he also looks like E.T. combined with the binocular character from Toy Story

but most baffling of all, how dare Pixar make a movie about Robots ripping of the timeless classic Robots from Blue Sky Animation Studios. That masterpiece where all the robots jammed out to Baby One More Time.

Maybe they ripped off Conky, the robot from Pee Wee's Playhouse?

I agree with ichabod's equation-
Put together E.T.: the great movie masterpiece
with Johnny 5: a robot in trashy movies
and you get WALL·E: a movie masterpiece with a robot!

Your comparison is like saying Cinderella is a rip off of Barbie because they are both white women with light eyes.

Of course Wall E will have similarities to other robots...
They can only make a believable robot in so many ways...
The only major comparison between Wall E and Johnny 5 is the tracks rather than legs or wheels.

But had they designed Wall E with legs...
You would be saying he was a rip off of Ben from Treasure Planet or ET...
And had he been designed with wheels you would compare him to some previously created robot that uses wheels.

There are twice as many differences as there are similarities.

I think he does too, but I see the Johnny 5 reference too.

BTW I would love to have that Gamecube linked above.

Has anyone else noticed that Pixar can't decide whether or not his wheels are inside or outside his body?

Except Wall-E is soooo much more cuter. I love Wall-E, he is so adorable and I am extremely excited for this movie. After seeing the new trailer, it looks like so much fun. And a definate step up from the previous two Pixar movies: Cars and Ratatouille.

That gamecube is for real? it looks a lot like the Plug and Play WALL-E game:
Image
Anyway WALL-E is not a rip-off,inspired or whatever,Chicken Little is also not rip-off from the little chicken from Looney Toons, just because character are similar doesn't mean it's a rip-off.
