Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: 3D Concert comes to 2-disc

Post by disneyboy20022 »

Blu Ray disc.... although I am puzzled how its coming to DVD and/or Blu Ray in 3-D as Disney has said in the past they can't do that with dvd for the Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D.. I'll probably end up buying both but I hope this means they can release Nightmare Before Christmas IN 3-D...

AND WHY DOES HANNAH MONTANA GET A 2-disc BUT Classics like Sword in the Stone, The Aristocats, etc don't get a release like this.... I hope they release Wall-E in a 2-disc when it comes times for its DVD and Blu Ray Release.....

Disney has announced DVD and Blu-ray release plans for its profitable 2008 music documentary Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert. The feature will arrive on both formats on August 19th. The DVD, a 2-Disc Extended Edition (SRP: $34.99), will serve up a 90-minute cut in both 2-D and 3-D viewing modes. Bonus features on both will include behind-the-scenes footage with Miley, Hannah, and the Jonas Brothers; a sing-along mode; and "total concert immersion through 3-D viewing capability." DVD will contain a Dolby 5.1 track and both fullscreen and anamorphic widescreen formats, while Blu-ray goes 16x9 only and will deliver Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound. Recalling the successful theatrical gimmick, the home video releases are vowed to be sold "for a limited time only."

I think it will be the red/blue kind.

It's really sad that this gets a 2-Disc release and countless other Disney films don't like Enchanted, Aristocats, Sword in the Stone etc. Does Disney really only care about tweens now? I think so.

This crap gets a 2 Disc?

Now i KNOW i have the right and obligation to be disappointed and indignant with everything that represents Disney today.
Aristocats, Enchanted, Sword and The Stone, Bridge to Terabithia, and Disney fans deserve a lot more respect than that.

Yeah when I read this on the main page I was puzzled! This STINKS! :(
I would love many other films to get a 2-Disc set then this! GRRRR!

Question, the soundtrack to this is coming out with a DVD as well, is there a reason for that? Is it the same as the concert? :?

The dvd with the soundtrack only has two songs from the concert on it and some behind the scenes stuff that I don't think was in the movie.

While I agree that its weird that this got a 2-Disc and Sword in the Stone and others haven't, I'm glad it's coming out. I'm older than most Hannah fans, but I have to admit I like the show.

Ohhh, ok. I am sure this will be on the 2-Disc release correct?

I'd say it will. The description said it had behind the scenes on it too, so that would be like them lately to put it on both instead of giving us new bonus features!

Its like the High School Musical: The Concert soundtrack, it came with a DVD of a couple of performances but it wasn't the whole concert.

High School Musical didn't even get the 2-Disc treatment, that would have made me angry, but not as much, because i actually enjoy HSM once in a while; but a fad like Hannah Montana getting a concert on a 2-Disc Edition of a DVD is just plain ignominy to the true masterpieces Disney himself made getting crappy releases and two packs.

Dear good folks over at Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment,

Before I get to the ugly part of this letter, let me just say that I am a fan of "Hannah Montana". It's a good mindless half hour where I can veg out on the sofa and watch insipid half-baked jokes delivered badly by youngsters who are still under the delusion that they're actors (Emily Osment excluded. Seriously, create a show just for her!). I enjoy the show for what it is: pure mindless humor that occasionally makes me laugh.

However, I'm not a fan of your tenacious publicity campaign for the alleged "singer" known as Hannah Montana. She's not a good singer. She really isn't.

So, when I read that a concert of hers will be getting a two-disc release with extensive bonus features and an extended cut, I have to wonder: why isn't this treatment given to other films in your film library? Why don't you have this kind of dedication for your Animated Classics anymore? Why haven't you released a pre-1990 live-action catalog title to the general public since...well, forever? When the hell will we get a three-disc Special Collector's Edition of The Rocketeer?

Alas, none of it will ever happen. You're a different company. You're focused on flavors of the week and their fifteen minutes of fame. Never mind the "all that's old is new again" adage. Once it's new, it gets old quickly, so pimp it out as much as you can before tossing it aside.

It pains me to know that what was once a great source of family entertainment has become a shell of its former self, relying more on the wallets and mentality of Joe Sixpacks and Soccer Mom Janes, rather than legions of fans whom you've gathered in the 80 years worth of history that has brought you where you are today. For shame, Disney, for shame.

And so, with a heavy heart, I must say this...

YOU SUCK

I Hope To God You Don't Have a Magical Day,
Albert

it's probably a 2 disc with fullscreen on one disc and widescreen on the other. As for the anaglyph 3D that will most probably be used here, I hope they do better with it than they did on the Spy Kids 3D set. While it wasn't horrible 3D on SP3, it was far from the best that I've ever seen. For some reason, old black and white movies have better 3D than colour films. Maybe the colour has something to do with this. Either way, I'll be picking this up. The blu-ray if I end up getting a player for my birthday, or the dvd if I don't. But I will be getting it. I just wish they'd release Hannah Montana 2 Rock Star Edition here in the states. It sucks that only Japan has it so far.
Think about this. Once bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread.

Disney is setting up a double standard here...

I mean, isn't the point of focusing on 1 disc editions of their classics is so soccer moms, kids and tweens could get into the film right away without the hassle of a second disc and DVD extras getting in the way of enjoyment?

This Hannah Montana DVD set goes against that. It looks like it will include extras NOT geared towards its target audience. The addition of a second disc along with the 3D option will likely confuse them even further.

Again, a double standard...

How will parents know what disc to put in? Kids everywhere will be sobbing! Moms will be crumpled in a pathetic heap before the DVD player! The entire infrastructure of our society as we know it will collapse! Shame on you, Disney, for putting a second DVD in the same box as a first one!

Just in case, I'm not saying that I approve of the 1 disc route. Just saying that Disney has mentioned that parents have complained about the second disc and thus decided to focus on single disc editions and limit the extras of the 2 disc sets.

This new Hannah Montana set proves that Disney is just full of crap as THEY know that Hannah appeals to the younger set, not the adult one, so there's no excuse as to why they went with the 2 disc version with all the trimmings.

Am I overwhelmingingly wishful thinking that it may be two disc because one disc is 2D and the other disc 3D?

I said it once & I'll say it again, "If you aren't a toddler or a tween Di$ney doesn't give a rat's behind about you". Baby Einstein to Hannah Montana is practically all they even release except for new movies & they rarely get 2 discs. Animated classics get one disc, catalog titles are totally forgotten except once a year like Syn on Treasures. There is so much money to be made if they would put out the product. Do they not realize ADULTS buy dvds & have most of the money?

I love Hannie Montanie!!! I'm buying!!!

PS. I concur with the fact that Disney should be more enthusiastic when releasing the classics!!!!
