Please help me find these movies!

Post by disneyfella »

I am desperately looking for these following Disney movies. Any information as to their availability would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty sure they have never had a release here in the U.S., but have they ever gotten a release in any format around the world? Does anyone know if someone is selling them online? Any help please! The movies I"m looking for are:

The Adventures of Pollyanna
Tales of the Apple Dumpling Gang
Freaky Friday (1995 TV remake)
Hansel and Gretel (Tim Burton/Disney short film from the 1980s....I think this may have gotten a German VHS release...)
The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1990s TV remake)

Thanks everyone for your help and support.

I looked on TCM, and this is what I got:

The Adventures of Pollyanna- Our records indicate this title is not available on Home Video.

Tales of the Apple Dumpling Gang- Our records indicate this title is not available on Home Video.

Freaky Friday (1995 TV remake)- Our records indicate this title is not available on Home Video. *Personal Note* I've seen this version on Showtime before, I believe.

Hansel and Gretel- I couldn't find this one.

The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes- Our records indicate this title is not available on Home Video.

So, according to them, none have been released here in the USA, but I don't know about internationally.

Thanks for the U.S. distribution info. What is TCM? Is there something like that available to monitor for overseas distribution? It sounds like a great resource to check for availability of things. Will it tell you if it has EVER been available and just not in current production?

Thanks again UmbrellaFish!

TCM is the official website for the TCM channel. It's really well kept up, and a surprisingly good source.
I don't know if there's something like that for overseas. I just tried out the searches on the international sites and they don't seem to work as well as the American, so you'll have to find some other source for titles in different countries.
Apparently it only tells you if it is in current production because I searched Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and it too said it was not avalible on home video.

The Adventures of Pollyanna- i found this on amazon.com, although i am not sure if it is the one you are looking for

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... eimprovemz

Tales of the Apple Dumpling Gang- could not find any information

Freaky Friday (1995 TV remake)- could not find on dvd

Hansel and Gretel (Tim Burton/Disney short film from the 1980s....I think this may have gotten a German VHS release...)- check out what i found

Tim Butron’s Hansel and Gretel aired on the Disney Channel on Halloween night in 1982, and was never seen or heard from again.
This gem is near impossible to find. Search Google, Ebay, YouTube, Torrent Sites, you won’t find anything.
Tim Burton is said to have been embarrassed of this early work, which might explain why the short has never been released on home video or DVD.

The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1990s TV remake)- could not any information

i hope i helped a little!!!!

Yes it helped. Thank you so much for your work.

The Adventures of Pollyanna film was a 1980s made for TV movie starring Shirley Jones as aunt Polly and a very young Patsy Kensit as the precocious Pollyanna. That amazon link is for the 1960 theatrical film). I was pretty sure it was unreleased here in the States, but sometimes people will sell their taped off TV shows and stuff and was thinking that that is how I'll have to find most of these.

I had heard about Tim Burton's story with this short. Also, I have heard that it is pretty bad too. I do know that it IS on the collector's circuits out there, though. When the special aired on the Disney Channel, it aired under the "Disney Studio Showcase" series of specials. Rumor has it that in the early 80s a German VHS was released and that is where the availability comes from. I have never seen any store having any record of this VHS. The other rumor is that a few collector's taped it off TV and slowly its availability spreads. As one collector gets it he/she shares it with their friends who share it with their freinds....etc.etc.etc. I hope to find it eventually. I have the 'making of', but can't seem to find the short itself!!

I'm still searching out there, and have a few leads on one of these titles, but everyone's help here is sure appreciated.
