hi andyp350!!! welcome to UD.

Disney puts their movies back in the vault after they have been available for some time. They do this either so sales go up on DVDs that have
stopped selling so people realize this might be the last chance for them to be available (this is when Disney actually announces to the general
public); which will be in a couple of years. And sometimes they quetly stop selling DVD so they can make room for another release
(when this happens they don't tell the genereal public).

So you see; either way the DVDs will be again available some time in the future.

You've started collecting at a good time too.

Cos once Sleeping Beauty is out on Blu-Ray, they'll start re-releasing
Pinocchio, Snow White & Fantasia ( in that order, over the next 2 years )
on BluRay too!

So you won't be like those people saying "oh I should have bought Snow White back when it was out in the Year 2000 on DVD"

This applies to everyone though, buy every Disney Classic Release on BluRay from Sleeping Beauty onwards so you don't whinge on forums about it for the next 5 years!!

Hooray for BluRay and people collecting them.

DVD is out out out. BluRay is in in in. And in about 4 years time people will laugh off DVDs like they did VHS.

It's taken me about 3 years to reach 45 disney classics on DVD. And now you want me to start again?!!!

I'm tempted and I know you are right but I've already double dipped on some of the dvds so to triple dip seems like madness and in 10-15 years time when I've got 30 or so classics on BluRay you can rest assured there will be an even better format and on the cycle goes. You might never reach the point of satisfaction. I think I'll just be relieved when I finally complete my dvd collection then maybe I should leave it at that and wait for the next format.

Technically, these are the Disney Classics, thanks to UltimateDisney...

http://www.ultimatedisney.com/checklist.htm

So all I did was buy everything on that list,
then all subsequent ( and usually better ) re-release of the listed titles.

But when I, myself, personally say "Disney Classic" I mean the old Disney Animated movies that were discontinued on DVD already.

ie Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Fantasia, Pinocchio...

Buy them when they're re-released on BluRay so in 2013 when someone wants to watch Snow White on BluRay you don't say to yourself "Oh, oops I should have bought it in 2009 when it was readily available oh silly me"

And as for double dipping, we all have multiple copies of films, it always happens. And BluRay is better than DVD, so you can just bury your old DVDs under the lemon tree in the backyard.

I'm just suggesting that everyone buy the BluRay Disney Classics that they want, when they are first out.

Because if you own them, you won't care when Disney put them back in the vault.
And you can laugh at people buying copies off Ebay for 50 times the Retail price in years to come.

Consider them an investment in your own personal happiness.
Even if you don't have a BluRay player, you will have to eventually, and you'll have fresh Disney Classics to enjoy straight away.

Hooray!

Nope, those are the ones that have gotten Special Edition DVD releases opposed to just regular barebones (no features)
