Eh, the only females I've "confessed" my feelings to were females I knew to also be lesbian or bi. I simply said things along the lines of, "Frankly, I've always had a little crush on you," during private conversations-- conversations where we were discussing relationships, personal matters, or things of the like. No, I didn't find it hard. I never "confess" to males, at least not verbally.

Telling another gay guy I like them is easy. I do it all the time. I just say "I like you" and if they say it back then wonderful, if they don't move on to the next potential suitor.

But I will never, EVER tell another straight guy that I have a thing for them (a madly in-love with you thing to be exact). It totally destroyed our friendship and turned every person I was friends with at the time against me.

I joke around with a couple close friends who pretend to hit on me first, but I'd never initiate it again; especially with a guy I actually do like (and most of the guys I fall for are straight. That tends to happen when you're the only gay guy in a 50 mile radius). The experience with GH is something I never want to relive.

Widdi, I do feel sorry about your experience. I didn't mean to upset you when asking the question, it's just I've never said anything like that to a guy before, and I don't know exactly how or when to do it.

Also, I was reading a book yesterday called "Real Boys", published in 1999. I just picked it up out of curiosity (and for a laugh) thinking it was some fake doctor trying to cash in on stupid parents money. I looked under the index for "homosexuality" and found that there was actually a whole chapter (number 9) devoted to the subject. Once more, the book was actually intelligently written, with lots of experiences from both children and their parents, sharing their experiences and it made me feel good, and occasionally depressed, like when it said that gays make up 1/3 of teenage suicides. Still, the book tried to explain that homosexuality was nothing bad and that gay males should be encouraged to be good, successful people like everyone else. Of course this section made up only a small percentage of the entire book, but if anyone here can find a copy I'd recommend it.

I don't need a book to tell me it's okay to be gay, that I can be myself, that I can get what I want! Why was that from a doctor?! You really made me worry you found it saying homosexuality was a medical problem.

Well, Dusty I don't need a book to tell me. I wasn't expecting that kind of information when I read it. It was for ha has sake and it turned out (pleasantly) do be different).[And good for you for not caring what others think. ] It even when into the history of how physiologists has changed their views and the book denounces all the old theories. As a side note reading about old physiology reminds me of when they used to used those salad tongs to measure the width of your skull to determine your intelligence. I wouldn't have want to have a small head in those days.

Yes, I am pretty closeted Dusty, but not because of what people have actually said to me, but what other (mainly relatives) will think. There so stupidly conservative and old fashioned, they'd probably just tell me to stop thinking about it or "your not gay and that's that". But I have every intention on going out have having some gay fun.

If you went into it for a laugh and came out being more helped, I just don't see why you needed the help in the first place! Point 1 (that you made): Yes your right I did recommend it, but just if anyone is curious. If someone really wanted help with that issue, i think talking to someone is best (and I know by saying that it makes me sound like a hypocrite). I'm sorry If I'm making this book sound like the be all end all for this issue. It was actually written more for the parents and I enjoyed it because it was written for that perspective.

Point 3: That's more for traditional reasons. Have you seen a mainstream american animated film with gay love? (If so, please tell me!). Also, I'm surprised that you didn't bring up my signature too, which shows straight love. But maybe that's because Hello, Dolly! is pretty gay and flamboyant to begin with.

Well, personally, I've typically had the luxury of some mild physical involvement before I said anything. Not that I'm encouraging that, but if it's a constant thing, it usually implies there's some sort of mutual attraction, and thus if I like the guy, I'm more likely to say so.

It's always tough, no doubt. And for lack of a better answer, you'll know when the time is right. You can just... tell.

Also, if they're straight... I'm going to agree with the general consensus to not say anything. It will just screw things up.

Also, don't say you love them anytime soon. Self-explanatory, but seriously. Wait a while.

I would like to say is that regardless of your sexual preferences, you should try to see this film. I am not a homosexual, but, I am a movie-goer and cannot express how wonderful this story is. It is not a "gay cowboy flick", it is a love story.

Well, that was 2005. Feels so long ago. But might you announce what's true officially in here? And did you really not think you were gay back then? I actually care about you and your story, since we have (still have?) The Little Mermaid and Cinderella as our top favorite Disney films (unfortunately Sleeping Beauty keeps trying to take Mermaid's second place spot on my list).

Point 1: Oh, well, the whole thing about "gay males being encouraged to become successful" just tore me up because it's like suggesting we need extra help becoming successful or for some reason we need to be told we can be successful also when it's a duh thing and there's no reason to think otherwise. But becoming "good" and "like everyone else" really tipped my iceburg, I think it's obvious why it's rather offensive that we have to be told we can be those things. Well, who what's to be like everyone else, anyway?

Point 3: No, you see Pixar could have avoided any issue by making the robots genderless or at least ambiguous. Parents wouldn't complain as long as they weren't clearly one sex or the other. Pixar felt a need to genderize. BAD PIXAR. Hello Dolly! gets no rap because that was made before this time...and they aren't robots, they're people who were born with genders.
