Okay, so I don't know if this is old news or not, but they are apparently going to make a Hannah Montana feature, probably for the bigscreen. I get messages from a yahoo group called STFC (South Texas Film Casting), and I just checked my e-mail to find a message with the following, which I thought some here might find interesting:

I just noticed that part about how the actor MUST NOT TURN 18 during shooting. I didn't know they had a rule like that. Kinda silly and I could swear I've seen movies that didn't go by that (like, was that guy in Cinderella Story really under 18 when he made that movie with Hilary Duff?). I wonder if it's just a Disney rule. I mean, seriously, what exactly would they be doing in a Hannah Montana movie besides kissing! Ha.

Maybe it is a thing her father might have with Disney. He may not want his daughter kissing someone 18 because of the age difference.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

I'm not male. I'm too old. Are there, perchance, any other roles available? I want to be recognized! (FYI, the cast of A Cinderella Story was sixteen at the very youngest. The majority were sixteen - twenty-six, playing high school seniors. Julie Gonzalo was twenty-three and twenty-four while she was being filmed as her seventeen-year-old character. Also, ACS was not a Disney movie.)

That's hot.

Yes, but isn't Miley Cyrus 16 or nearly 16? That's why it seems kinda dumb that they have such a rule (to me). Anyway, 15 or 18, we're still just talking about teens probably not doing more than kissing at the most, and probably not much at all. Not that I care, I'm too old to audition and wouldn't anyway, but stupidity like that really irritates me. Anyway, as for other roles, that is all I've heard so far.

Well, if you live in the same area (south texas) they'll likely have open call auditions for movie extras. You might also check "Talent Gigs" on your local craigslist.org section.Prudence wrote:I'm not male. I'm too old. Are there, perchance, any other roles available? I want to be recognized!
I'm booking some extras work recently just from responding to craigslist postings and open call auditions for the Atlanta area. In fact, tonight I'm going to be an extra for a scene in an upcoming Tyler Perry film.
The pay is decent for extras (usually a stipend although I booked a union gig last year as an extra that paid off nicely) provided you're already off work and the drive isn't too far, and it can be an interesting and rewarding experience. And if you're an actor, the resume padding is nice too especially for films that are nationally/internationally released.
It's not stupidity. It all has to do with marketing. When Disney promotes the film and their lead actors are making appearances, they want the actors to still be marketable agewise to their target demographic: kids and tweens.slave2moonlight wrote:Yes, but isn't Miley Cyrus 16 or nearly 16? It's an odd mindset for sure, but marketing types actually believe that kids don't identify with teen actors if they aren't younger than 18. That's why it's so surprising to me that Raven-Symoné is still being marketed to tweens when she's 23 years old (she does have an established fanbase though, and broader appeal).
It's easier to financially exploit minors?slave2moonlight wrote:I just noticed that part about how the actor MUST NOT TURN 18 during shooting. I didn't know they had a rule like that.
