Who here has lost weight or has a goal?

Post by Matt »

I did! :D
I am very proud of myself. I lost over 90 pounds. My goal is to loss about 110 pounds.
I was 280 pounds when I first started.
Now I am about 187 pounds. I still feel fat at times lol.
I guess it is just in my head. :)
I did not get any surgery to lose the weight, I joined a special program that really works.
So I do not have any extra skin hanging anywhere thank GOD!
I still need to tighten up and tone up, and I will be joining a gym soon. :p

Anyone have weight loss praises and goals you would like to share? :)

well...I do have a goal
I'm actually at 266 pounds I think(I guess those would be 118 kilograms) but at a 38 pants size; I want to be again like those old times on highschool where I weighted 110kgs and I had 32 for pants size

*sighs* I'll never understand why people have to lose so much weight. I'm skinny, always have been I'm only 110 (or so) and I hate it, my goal is to actually gain up to 60 pounds.

Other than gain weight I wouldn't mind excersizing more, I do a lot of laying around now which isn't all that good. Aside from that I need a better sleeping habit. I oversleep............a lot, it's pretty bad when I do get up early, even an hour earlier I find myself bored and restless so I guess I'll need to find things to keep me from being bored as well.....I'm tired just thinking of all that

I've lost about 60-70 pounds total in the past few years, 40 of which happened when I was really pushing myself with diet and exercise, the other 20 or so was very gradual because of some lifestyle changes.

I've stayed the same for quite a while now, would love to lose quite a bit more. I've no need to be skinny but have plenty of room to get healthier. Funny, my boyfriend literally eats twice as much as I do and I'm the one that has to watch what I eat. :p

Anyway, I recently discovered I have a bad reaction to aspartame (also found out it may hinder weight loss) so I'm hoping I'll feel better now that I've cut it out. :)

Those of you who read the other forums on this will know that I have championed the people who want to lose weight by telling them about me. A little over four years ago I weighed in a hefty 457. After getting told by my doctor that I was a crash course for the graveyard, I decided it was time to get out of denial and kick some of the weight off. My doctor had a special diet he wanted me to go on, but I nixed it because I don't eat Cottage Cheese and Artichoke hearts and stuff like that. Instead I immediately quit drinking soda pop, even diet ones, and began drinking a lot of water. I also quit eating any solid food after 6 p.m. Now that was the hard part because I worked nights, and when I got home I always wanted something to snack on.

My doctor suggested that I look into things like Jello and sugar-free ice cream and things like that which are initially liquid before they become solid. That did the trick.

As an update, two weeks ago, I was at the doctor's office for my A1C Blood Glucose test (I am a type 2 diabetic) and I got on a scale and it inched its way up to 267. That is just in 46 months, and I have a goal that I will be down close to 225 by Christmas of 2009, and that on my 70th birthday in July of 2010, I will weigh, hopefully, 200, and will be a happy camper.

My doctor thinks that I will be happy at about 210 to 215. I think that he is right about that.

Good luck to those on diets to lose weight, make sure that you set small goals, as well as the big picture goal. And those of you who want to gain weight, there are diets and exercise programs that you can go on to gain what weight you want in a smart fashion.

Those who just want to lay around and gain some weight will find that they don't feel as good as those who are in an exercise program and gain it the smart way.

Good luck to all of you, hope that this little story inspires someone to meet my challenge of getting off the right way, and keeping it off.

Matt, thank you for starting this thread, and dvdjunkie, thank you for sharing your story. I've been looking for a bit of inspiration, especially since I recently had to cut out soda altogether (both regular and diet).

Cheers to everyone for getting to where they need to be. 8)

I've started towards two of my goals today. I took a half hour walk. Doesnt' sound like much, but I very very rarely go out of the house these days I've become a hermit and it's not something I'm proud of, so my friend and I went down to the store, looked around and came back. Now, the farthest I've made it since becoming a Hermit has been one block round trip. Today it was 4 blocks each way, plus whatever time spent in the store itself.

Also, since I can't afford Gym memberships (and I don't want to go alone) I picked up a couple of Yoga for Beginners tapes at the store so I can start excersizing.

Hopefully things will keep going this way, I intend to walk 8 blocks 2-4 days a week since my friend said she'd help and go on them with me.

:pink: Huzzah for working to achieve our goals

I don't have a specific goal, but I am trying to watch what I eat and exercise more. I've cut out the soda completely, and I haven't missed it a bit.

That's like me, too. I've completely cut out any softdrinks; I only allow myself one glass of juice in the morning with breakfast. Tall glasses of water only!

I've stopped snacking between meals and have cut down my portions. That, combined with daily walks, seems to be making a difference, but it's still early days yet (only been doing it for 6 weeks).
I'm just valentine candy and boxing-gloves!

I've lost 10 pounds in the past 2 1/2 weeks by switching my diet to fruits, veggies, and lean cuisines. I hope to lose another 25 pounds and then I'll be a HAPPY camper.

I've come to a plateau though, so I'm thinking I need to add in exercise or switching from diet soda to water or something like that. I don't have much time for exercise (full time work, full time school, 5 kids) so this is going to get tougher.

When I saw this thread, I just had to stop in and share my story!

I grew up as an overweight kid, and that's really tough emotionally getting teased and stuff in school. Fast forward to being an overweight 20-something.

I saw Turbo Jam on an infomercial, and despite my better judgement on infomercial products, I went ahead and ordered it. BEST Decision of my life! Turbo Jam is a little bit of kickboxing, a little dance, sports drills and more set to ROCKING music! It was just the motivation I needed, and it's the only time I'd ever thought exercising was fun.

After cutting out the junk food, I really started dropping the weight. I guess it took me about 5 or 6 months, but I've lost about 55 lbs to date just by doing Turbo Jam and staying away from junk food.

If anyone wants to see my before/after pic, you can see it on my blog at turbolife.org .

Best wishes to everyone on your journey, I know it can be tough at some times, but the key is to find what motivates you and run with it!

;-) Michael

Gah, I'd like to gain weight. I've lost an insane amount of weight this February, and I'm naturally a very thin girl to begin with. There isn't really a perfectly scientific explanation for my recent looking like a living skeleton. I came close to having to be put on feeding tubes last month, and thus I'm pretty darn grateful that I was able to gain enough to avoid this. (I won't mention my actual weight. It's exceptionally low, especially in regards to my tall height.)
I was told yesterday that I should have karyotype testing done. I'm not clueless when it comes to biology; I know why. My frame and height are not inherited, not really/exactly/precisely.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_X_syndrome
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_X_syndrome#Symptoms

I've suspected this to be my case for years, but I truly hate labels - especially ones not needed in the least little bit - so I've never mentioned it. Triple X isn't exceptionally rare, especially not in the United States (though I was European born), but a very rare percentage of Triple X females have... well, as much success as I have had. The smallest percentage have high IQ scores, and I -do- have a high IQ score, though I think IQ doesn't matter in a number of practical respects. If the karyotype testing shows that my suspicions have been right, then I am in the minority of Triple Xs.

Point is, a thin frame isn't necessarily a good thing. My apologies for rambling on about this, but things are a bit insane right now.

All of that does, respectfully, tie into goals. I certainly have a lot of goals, probably an abnormal amount. I plan to graduate from university with my master's degree at the age of twenty years, although I could graduate at age nineteen if I sacrifice all my free time (which would be fine if I actually didn't want a life, but that's not the case). My double majors are business supervision and education, and my minor is theatre. I plan on leaping full-force into career life after graduation, and that has been my plan since elementary school! (Simply because I wanted to, and admittedly also because of psychological reasons, I have been a working girl since those childhood years.)

Once my work life is securely established enough, I plan on adopting a little girl from Kazakhstan. :)

Alright, so these goals really, really do not have a thing to do with weight. To add little somethings to make it on-topic:
Exercise your friend. Dancing is fun. So is cheerleading. ;) (I've never been a flyer cheerleader, though. I was a base cheerleader throughout my cheer years.)

I've lost 20lbs since I started my diet, more out of concern for my health than anything else as I am well on my way to becoming a diabetic. Nothing new to add since i sounds like most everyone is doing the same kind of thing but Its amazing how much weight I lost within 1 week of cutting out all soft drinks....

^ I agree about that Pruedence

My goals have changed somewhat. My family's announced they're going on vacation down to Leavenworth WA, and they booked a room for my Mom and myself. However there's a large thing keeping me from going, I'm pretty sure I have Agoraphobia, so basically until I can get comfortable being outside a lot more chances are I'll end up here at home while they have fun :(

So, I plan on going for a walk each day, each week I'll extend the duration by a half hour to an hour. Hopefully by April I'll be able to visit Vancouver at least for a few days, after that Leavenworth in July.

Aside from that, I want to continue adding weight on as well as getting more fit. The walking will help with that, but I plan on doing Yoga as well as various excersize tapes we have.

Here's an odd non Health related goal, I want to try writing a book series soon, I've started the research so hopefully it gets on track soon :)

I am also 6'6". At the beginning of the new year I weighed about 255. I am down 20 pounds to 235 and want to drop another 25 pounds to get to 210.

I am in the Army National Guard and have begun officer training. That has helped me lose weight. When I go this summer for 8 weeks straight I think I will come home at my goal weight. Right now I am at the Army's max weight for my age (32) and height.

It may sound stupid but I have to lose 3-4 pounds to fit into my prom dress .
I can close the zipper but if I do I can't really breathe or sit. I feel like Scarlett O'Hara on the day of the Wilke's barbecue party.
