I pre-ordered my copy yesterday for the Blu-Ray version when I went to pick up 101 Dalmatians. While I like getting the lithographs, I have at least 40 of them and have yet to make use for them. I one day would like to have a room full of them in professionally done frames. What I don't like is the background images they used on the recent sets - such as 101 Dalmatians and Enchanted - I mean, they are alright, but I prefer no border that takes up most of the picture. Some of the older lithographs i've gotten from the Disney Store actually came with mats for them - that was nice - of course, that's when you only got one litho...so...

What... is that. lol A journal? I know this is supposed to be a kids' movie, but this is just a little ridiculous. If they could add that to the set, why couldn't they include they special BluRay game?

I do like the journal, but since I want widescreen (which disney store is not offering), i'll keep that option open. But i'll wait to see who has the best item with the film at the best price.

Went to wal-mart tonight. It's a diary, monthly calender, a sheet of stickers, i think address book and an exclusive back cover all inside the journal. Maybe more, I would have looked closer, but my parents were rushing to get out of there.

Has anyone else read the novelization of the movie?

I bought the book two weeks ago, but just read it now and it's really
good. The author basically took the screenplay and put it in book form. It was a nice read, and I highly recommend it!!

SPOILERS:

There is a scene in the book that I don't remember in the movie, but it involves Nancy at her studio talking to her assistant about Robert. I don't think this was in the movie.

Also, the battle scene in the book seems longer; and in the book, Giselle's shoes at the ball were made of glass, and she doesn't drop it, but she removes them when she wants to fight the dragon (beast as it's called in the book).

One more thing...the epilogue in the book is more detailed than what is shown in the movie.

Apparently, Nancy & Edward get married the next day, and soon Edward becomes King, and spends happy days fighting off trolls and governing the people, while Nancy is known as Queen Nancy the Kind because she spends her days helping the peasants, especially the children.

As for Giselle & Robert, well they get married (which the movie really didn't tell us that they got married), and Morgan was a flower girl at the wedding. Giselle then took over Nancy's old studio. Furthermore, there is a picture in the book with Robert & Giselle (wearing the clothes from the very last scene in the movie), and instead of running around the apartment, they are with Morgan in her bed and it looks like they are a nice, happy family.

Maybe Nancy & Edward's epilogue was the song that was deleted in the end, and maybe the aftermath of Robert, Giselle, and Morgan is an alternate ending?

Thanks for telling us there is a scene about Nancy in her studio in the DS game-
Nancy walks angry and her assistant asks her if it's Robert that she's angry about and she says somehing like "I"m one of those girls who's waiting their whole life for a prince".
The part about Nancy and Edward sounds neat i"m also glad Nancy dosn't replace Giselle.

I received the novelization as a Christmas present. A good number of small, explanatory scenes are added to the book that were not in the movie.

You are all welcome. I got it from Books-A-Million, but I am certain you can find it at other major bookstores. I know for a fact that Barnes & Nobles have it, and so does Borders.

Forgot to mention it was a Junior novelization, but the words in the book are word-for-word with what is said in the movie. The author also does a good job in describing how the characters feel in certain scenes.

SPOILERS

The book goes a little in-depth with minor characters, like Mr. & Mrs. Banks, whose names are actually Ethan and Phobe.

Morgan likes Nancy but really doesn't want her for a stepmother, which we really don't see in the movie in my opinion.

Nancy is given more character development, but she comes off as a subtle witch sometimes, but it's toatally understandable because she's frustrated with Robert's behavior sometimes.

The movie does a better job of showing how Giselle and Robert fell in love, but the book does a better job showing how Nancy and Edward fell in love and I kind of understand why she made the split-second decision of returning to Andalasia with him.

Some innuendo in the film isn't found in the book. For example, the scene where Giselle touches Robert's chest is written differently. In the book, Robert touches her gently after she gets angry, and they look into each other's eyes.

Also, the scene where Morgan and Giselle go shopping and getting made-over is written differently. in the movie, we just think Morgan is at the house by herself when Giselle arrives and gets the credit card. In the book, Morgan is being watched by a babysitter and she and Giselle sneak out when the babysitter is asleep in front of the tv.

Furthermore, the scene in where Giselle and Morgan are talking about what men really want from women is changed in the book in that Morgan and Giselle talk about daughters shopping with their mothers, then they talk about stepmothers with Giselle trying to convince Morgan (with no avail) that stepmothers aren't all that bad.

Narissa's demise is different in that before the beats dies, it changes back to Narissa, and she slips from the tower and falls to her death.

In the book, you really feel sorry for Nathaniel. His epilogue is that he becomes a sel-help author. His book becomes a best-seller and he helped thousands of unhappy men find the strength to like themselves.

As for Pip, he found fame in Andalasia, where he finally gets the respect he deserves. He writes his autobiography about his adventures in NYC, and the book turns out to be a perfect cautionary tale to all the extroverted sidekicks out there, warning them to stay away from magical wells and evil hags.

I liked the review, it was pretty exciting to see a sneak preview of the picture quality, the menu, especially. The Pip story or whatever... doesn't look too exciting. But oh well. lol

By the way, on the DVD site, there's a lot of extra videos, including four clips from the film itself, and two clips from the DVD, including a "making of" clip, and an excerpt from the blooper reel.

I really enjoyed the "making of" clip, it was really fun to watch. I especially liked the Cinderella ballroom scene and Pip overlooking the wedding scene comparison, I never even thought about that one before. This is very exciting. lol

I was just wondering, do you guys think Disney will release a 2-Disc DVD? I was looking at the past DVDs from resent live-action Disney films, and it seems that most of them have 2 different DVD releases, and I'm scared that in a few months, another DVD version of Enchanted would be released.

The UK will be getting an HMV-exclusive bonus disc with a half-hour documentary, "Becoming Enchanted: A New Classic Comes True". It's unknown if any US store will carry it, though I have a feeling it will be either Circuit City or Target (and leaning more towards Target), since we know what the bonuses are for Wal-Mart and BestBuy.

I'm a bit mad at myself now, I saw a copy at a local mom&pop video store and bought & opened it already. So now if there is indeed a store-exclusive bonus disc, I'll have to rebuy the film for it since I opened my first one. I'm also disappointed that the "Back to Roots" featurette that's on the website isn't included on the DVD (perhaps even another sign that a double-disc double-dip is on the way). The three featurettes on the DVD are okay for what they are (and have a lot of nice BTS footage, rehearals, and storyboards-to-rough-CGI-to-original-dailies-to-finished-shot comparisons), but I really wanted to know more about the animation.

And it's interesting to note that the BBFC passed seven deleted scenes, but only six are on the DVD. The final one, which runs about 3:16 is probably the deleted song "Enchanted" (which Menken said would appear on the DVD...), but I'm guessing it'll now just appear only on the Blu-Ray
