Or how about a (non-Treasures) Annette Funicello box set like TCM does, including Shaggy Dog, Babes in Toyland (both in the right aspect ratio), The Horsemasters, , Escapade in Florence, Merlin Jones, Monkey's Uncle, the Zorro episodes, Backstage Party, Golden Horseshoe, Disneyland After Dark, the MMC Annette serial and Disney Family Album with Annette.

Merlin, I think thats a great idea! I would love to see that. I wrote Leonard Maltin a year or so ago and suggested something like the above for the Treasures series and he said he would LOVE to do a Annette Funicello centric edition for the collection. I specifically asked for the Golden Horseshoe Revue in my request and I was so happy to see it included in the Disneyland Secrets Stories and Magic edition. Most of you pry already know you can contact Leonard Maltin thru his website.

Hopefully someday...somehow we will see the Annette movies mentioned in Merlins list available again.

Yea Kurt Russel, Fred McMurray, and Hayley Mills sets would be great as well! I would buy them all!

^Reading any post is much easier if it is in regular print. Bolding, italicizing, or coloring the entire post makes it more difficult to read and it defeats the purpose of doing so to a word or phrase for emphasis.

If there is an Annette Funicello set in the Treasures series, it will be the MMC serial "Annette" plus extras, more than likely it will be programs or episodes of Disney shows that feature her as a guest role or something.

What does Ten Who Dared have to do with The Monkey's Uncle, Song of the South, So Dear to My Heart, Prince and the Pauper, Sign of Zorro, The Incredible Journey, Sammy the Way Out Seal, Escapade in Florence, The Horsemasters, The Light in the Forest, Sword and the Rose, Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color, Disneyland, Walt Disney Presents, etc.?

Movies and TV shows are not just cookie-cutter product based on age, they are individual entities, works of popular culture (and sometimes art) that should be judged each for their own merits.

I agree wholeheartedly that each movie should be judged on their own merits. However, my sarcastic rhetorical question does have everything to do with the other films you listed above. They are unreleased catalogue titles that Disney seems to have forgotten about. An unreleased catalogue film can't be judged on its own merits if it is largely unavailable to the public. Disney released Ten Who Dared on VHS very early on, but it has been unavailable for about twenty years. Frankly, I just enjoy kicking it when it's down.

How about a couple of Annette/Tommy two-packs in the pipeline?

"The Misadventures of Merlin Jones" with "The Monkey's Uncle" - and "The Horsemasters" with "Escapade in Florence" (both restored theatrical cuts). I'd buy 'em in a second.

Each film has great Annette musical numbers.

If only the marketers at Walt Disney Home Video were as sharp. They could be benefitting from incremental sales increases if they actually tried to build demand for the classic Walt Disney film and TV library material.

But apparrently it takes some vision see beyond the low-hanging fruit.

I hope that Monkey's Uncle eventually recieves a dvd release but i doubt it will be released anytime soon but you never know.

Also would love to see Escapade in Florence & The Horsemasters out on dvd.

There for a while on Disneys website you could vote for the movies you would like to see come to DVD. Is that still there? How can we suggest these titles be released????

I was thinking today, if a petition got Disney to put out Newsies on DVD, can one for The Monkey's Uncle work? I just wish Disney would find some way (NOT the Disney movie club) of releasing these older films. I'm dying to see this, The Fighting Prince of Donegal, Westward Ho the Wagons (you even gave it a soundtrack release on the itunes store Disney), The Sword and the Rose, So Dear to My Heart, The Incredible Journey, Emil and the Detectives etc. out in real stores where I can go and purchase them.

Can someone make an online petition?

I can't even imagine how horribly long Disney will make us wait for even some basic, recent live action titles on Blu-ray like Hocus Pocus and The Rocketeer. never mind The Happiest Millionaire or The Black Hole.

I just checked amazon and apparently Rob Roy the Highland Rouge, The Fighting Prince of Donegal and the Treasure of Matecumbe were all released in 2007 as part of the Disney Movie Club. I wouldn't be surprised if The Monkey's Uncle was put out soon to the club. Of course this means none are in widescreen have any good bonus features (not even chapter stops!) or any kind of quality restoration or can be bought or rented from a video store.

I have The Fighting Prince of Donegal and Treasure of Matecumbe, and both have actually undergone restoration. They are really good transfers that are better than any available quality (including laserdisc transfers). Now, they don't compare to the vault disney line (i.e. The Parent Trap, Swiss Family Robinson, etc.), but have obviously undergone restoration. Also, they DO have chapter stops (only the first few waves of DMC exclusives were without chapter stops). The only problem, is that they ARE fullscreen, however they are open matte transfers.

In short, these are actually pretty good discs. I'd gladly purchase The Monkeys Uncle if offered in the club.

On a side note, I just picked up "Ducktales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp" from the club the other day and I must say that I was really impressed with the disc. It is widescreen with animated menus (yes, including a chapters menu) and an awesome transfer and even has a bonus feature. Oh, the memories came flooding back when I watched it

I don't believe either of those was ever available on laserdisc, but it's nice that they look okay.

According to Wikipedia "So Dear to My Heart" will be released to DVD on May 13 of this year and it will be a 2-Disc special edition. I'll believe that when I see it.
