Guys, the preview IS THERE! Just click "sneak peek" to watch it. It's not the musical sneak peak we've seen before. It's a 5 minute long preview of the movie.

AND GUESS WHAT!?

WE CAN SEE ARIEL'S MOTHER!

*_*

and btw, Marina Del Rey's animation looks spectacular...and she looks a hell of a lot like Ursula, if she were younger and if she were a mermaid. Same hair, make-up...hmmm...makes me wonder heheheh ;P

enjoy!

Oh. My god.

That was probably the most lengthy preview of an upcoming Disney direct-to-video sequel I have ever seen in my entire life, and I'm so glad it was. They showed everything that's been kept in the dark for the past two YEARS, and I LOVED that they did.

I think the main thing that bothers me, more than anything, is how much Ariel's mother looks like her, it looks like incest or something.. but I love how they really set up the introduction. That was great. I wonder what happened to her mother? Died while saving Ariel? I guess that would make the most sense, she died so Triton outlawed music... hmm... maybe not. lol

I don't like the redone musical scene... the music is a lot weaker, and the animation is a little off, but at least now we understand why she did that ridiculous wave, and made all those fcuked up faces. lol

I LOVED the scene with Ariel's sisters. It's about time they got an introduction, or at least some more lines. lol By the way, did the first opening shot remind anyone else of Peter Pan? I loved it.

This prequel looks very promising. Thanks so much for letting us know about the update, caioloki! :D

edit: I forgot to talk about Marina del Ray!

I was honestly expecting her to be a stingray. I mean, doesn't that make sense? Marina del Ray is a stingray, like Ms. Potts was a pot, or Lumiére was a lightstick? Hm... well, it makes sense to me. lol

I like Sally Field for this part. I know her best for her role in Ms. Doubtfire, so it's interesting to see her change characters and be the villain, rather than the responsible mother, y'know?

I do get what caioloki said about the similarity in appearances. I guess it makes more sense for Marina to be a mermaid rather than a squid like Ursula or Morgana (and don't you correct me and say she's an octopus, or I'll get Pat Carrol herself to beat you up. lmfao ;)). Again, this looks very promising, and I'm glad Disney decided to put the extra effort into it.

interesting. The mermaid got owned by Pirates. Ariel's mom look too similar to Ariel. Well I did think she'd get red hair but not the same hair style though.

The banning music make sense now.

I'm not fond of Marina Del Ray's look. Too boring imo.

OH. MY. GOD. ahhhhhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhhh!!!! Sorry I just had to let it all out! I'm am thrilled to see this.

Wow, what an amazing preview! I shouldn’t have watched it, because now I have to wait until August to see the rest. Wow, I'm just so thrilled right now. That was simply an amazing preview. We finally get answers, to what I have always thought of as the, biggest Disney animated classic mystery of all time.

I love how the preview begins. Ariel's mom looks way to similar to Ariel. It conjures up bad thoughts; they just look to similar. But I suppose that's the purpose. Having pirates dispose of Ariel's mom is interesting. It shows, in a way, that there are good humans and bad humans. Eric and his crew would be an example of good humans, while those pirates would be an example of bad humans. Triton hates all humans, and he has every right to. It looked like the mer people were living in peace, maybe even alongside the humans, until the pirates came. I can't think of any other reason to explain why the mer people were so happy and care free above the water. I'm also going to assume that Triton lost the music box. He decided to ban music because it reminded him of his wife. Like all illegal things, people, and even sea creatures, will find a way to bend the rules.

It's also very interesting that all the sea creatures know about the club, expect for the mer people. Did anyone else notice that King Triton has a different voice? He sounds like his voice work is being done by Jim Cummings. I also enjoyed seeing more of the sisters. It would also seem that Ariel is the only one who doesn’t remember what happened on the day her mother died. In the throne room, Ariel is pushing the issue and her sisters tell her to "let it go". This film seems very interesting.

Marina seems very interesting. She looks allot like Madame Medusa. I'm very curious to find out her story. She seems to be the babysitter to the princesses. But who is she? How did she get that title? Why is she mad? I'm very interested to hear her story.

What also puzzles me is the lack of Ursula. I find it very, very odd that a film like this, which seems to answers many questions, neglects to answer the biggest question of all: What is with Ursula? What did she mean, in the first film, by saying “I remember my days in the palace"? Why was she banished? It seems very odd that Disney would neglect this. I feel there's allot more to this tale. What's also odd is the use of electric eels as villains. The eels are obviously locked up, banned from the rest of the sea. Flotsam and Jetsam, anyone? I feel that all the dots connect in one way or another. Unfortunately we'll have to wait until August 26 (the fcukin end of August) to find out more!

Thoughts anyone?

The lack of Ursula could be that she was banished even before this movie. hence why we don't see her. I dunno. I could be wrong.

Disney Villain-that's Attina,she is Ariel's sisters.
Wow,wow,wow,wow :o :jawdrop: this amazing.
Image
I looked exactly like Ariel in the picture when i watched the trailer .
Ariel's mom (Athena) look exactly like Ariel,i didn't saw that coming but that's wonderful :D,so she was killed by humans!,the pirates captured her?.
I think Ursula's banishing story is different a different one,i don't there's something special about it but maybe Disney will explain it :D.
Wow,Marina Del Ray reminds me of Ursula and Madusa :o she looks like Ursula in the gallery of the PE,i didn't thought she's going to be a mermaid, just some evil fish or other sea creature (like the Glowfish from the series).
So the Music Club scene is re-draw,i loved when Ariel and Flounder were there,i guess the scene is different :D.
The eels that chased them were werid.
This is amazing! :jawdrop: this will be even better then Cinderella III :D.
Thanks :D :D :D.
Anyone noticed that Ariel was holding the music box when the eels chased them?.
Also dosn't the palace have merpeople as guards? why swordfishes?.

I can tell you what they said if you want :D.
Did anyone noticed that they keep reminding that Ariel is a princess? ("The Princess didn't played music..." "Princess Ariel!!!" "Those spoiled princesses" and etc.),i know why they're doing this (the Princess franchise) but still,in the film did they said she's a princess more then once?.

The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning

Post by Disney Duster »

Disney Villain wrote:Question: who is that next to Ariel's mom?
It looks like Ariel's sister, but she’s older, and we saw that sister jump in the sea as a child. :? Though it could be a result of the clip's editing.
The mermaid thrown into the air was Ariel. One of her sisters is sitting on the rock next to Ariel's mom. Ariel is the youngest sister, so all her sisters would already be born and older than her.

The sneak peek finally makes sense out of the old trailer. The ship sailing, the locket falling into the sea. That was supposed to be the pirate ship sailing and the music box falling into the sea. The only question is who's eyes were those that flashed when the storm came? Marina's? I wonder if Marina Del Ray made a storm explode the ship, killing Ariel's mother and making the music box fall.

The only good thing about this was the beginning, because we now see Ariel's mother and what happened to her and a better explanation for why Triton banned music. But the story still sucks because it's about music being banned and a secret music club and no Ursula. Only the storyline about Ariel's mother doesn't suck. And even then, it's ripped off from The Sound of Music, a man bans music after his wife's death because it has to do with her.

Something you should look at is Marina Del Ray's tail changes. It was purple once, then pink. Is it just a costume change? Or can Marina magically change her own tail...meaning she can change her whole form?

The swordfish who chase Ariel are probably Jag and Pierre.

I definately have mixed feelings about the sneak peek:I hat eTriton's new voie! Some of Ariel's animation id totally whacked, and the plot seems way too simple/lame. However i enjoyed the little prolouge with Ariel's mother and Sally field does a surprisingly well job as part of the voice cast. :( :? :)

That sister is Attina :).
I"m sure that Marina has something to do with Triton's hate for music and she's using the death of Ariel's mom to control him, maybe she is responsible for that and it's all her plan to take over Atlantica.
I noticed her flipper, maybe she can change (she's a sea witch).
I had a feeling it's them :D.
Anyone noticed that there's swordfishes as guards insted of merpeople? maybe it's a part of the spell to make Triton aggressive? and when Ariel bring the music box she breaks the spell?.
Marina reminds me of Ursula's mermaid version from the Platinum Edition's gallery.
