I loved Amy's performance, and she looked gorgeous. Though, yeah, considering the type of song, it would have been even better if they'd done it as a big production. I wonder why they used Chenoweth for "That's How You Know"? I thought that was the worst, and yet it's my fave song from that film and the one I hoped would win.

Usually when the Acadamy nominates several songs from the same film, it's almost as if they're apologizing in advance not giving the film an award. That's what happened with Dreamgirls last year.
Exactly, it's as if they all cancel one another out or something. I wasn't too hopeful for a win for Enchanted either. Like you said, they did it to Dreamgirls last year, and they did it this year to Enchanted.
That must be a new unofficial rule. Several songs of both Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King got nominated for best song and they DIDN'T cancel eachother out.

By the way: I did not have the opportunite to watch the Oscar ceremony (it used to be broadcasted on BBC2, but now it's only on a paid channel you have to subscribe to especially - just fo Oscar night they 'openen up' for non- subscribers, but only for those with digital TV, which I don't have)
So my questions: is there some internetadress (on Youtube for instance) where I can watch bits and pieces of the ceremony?
Thanks!

If I remember rightly, the original song category is notorious for normally not getting enough nominations. I'm pretty sure Enchanted (and Dreamgirls) got more than one song nominated because they had more songs to nominate in the first place.

However, I do think it is possible that as a result of having multiple songs nominated, the voting was split.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Is it just me or the people (the old people, the brides and groomes and etc.) in That's How You Know are the same people from the film?.
Agree with Poody, the Happy Working Song was performed very poorly :?,Amy is very cute :D but she's just standing on an empty stage with a simple black dress.

I watched them all again and saw all of "That's How You Know." Kristin did an ok job, but I thought she could pull off a better Giselle. She seemed to be trying to make the song her own.

Jon McLaughlin on the other hand looked pretty damn cute.... :P

I was really disappointed. I sat through the entire awards show, watched all the performances, listened to all the bad jokes, and for what? Enchanted didn't win anything. UGH.

Amy did a good job on Happy Working Song, although it's just not the same with her acting to air, and without her wedding dress. lol I didn't really like That's How You Know. Marlon Saunders messed up several times in the song, and I did not like Kristen Chenoweth's interpretation of Giselle. :(

Jon did a wonderful job in So Close. His voice was rather shaky, though but the performance was really wonderful, I was impressed how they got almost all of the dancing right, and they even added the famous chandelier. That was a very nice touch. And I didn't expect to see John Travolta pop out of the dancers. lol

I thought Amy was wonderful !

She is getting praise all round for her performance ... :

- Los Angeles Times
It must be noted that Amy Adams may be eligible for a Medal of Honor; singing "A Happy Little Working Song" in front of all those movie stars without the support of her cockroach, rat and pigeon kickline was one of the bravest acts I personally have ever witnessed.

- Detroit news
There were some highpoints. Amy Adams sang "Happy Working Song," one of three numbers she sang in "Enchanted" that scored a best song nomination. Notably, she sang it all alone onstage, with no flashy choreography or dancers, just like an old-fashioned movie star with actual talent.

She has also been named one of the best performers of the night as well. Go Amy !

But, Enchanted was utterly ROBBED ! ! ! Who the heck knows of the song that won? And think of all the millions of people who know and love the songs from 'Enchanted' ?

I guess Alan, Steven, and Amy can draw comfort from the fact that their songs will be beloved by people and families for generations to come.

Here is Amy in better quality as well:

Disney's Enchanted

Post by Disney Duster »

I wish everyone would stop saying Kristin Chenoweth was a bad Giselle or too different from Giselle. She was obviously deliberately not trying to be Giselle. She did it operatic sometimes, and then twangy and Southern accented other times, all her own. Just listen to the way she characteristically did, "Everybody wants to live happily ever after". She was definately trying to do her own thing, it all sounded like how she acts and sings. If you wanted Giselle...you already got her in "Happy Working Song"!

Atlanticaunderthesea, thank you for all that information. So heartwarming, so kind of those people to say those things about her performance when she was so scared and nervous and didn't do it perfectly. But the way she handled it was great. Also, thanks for the better quality video. Poor Amy really does look so scared. This is why she didn't want to perform twice, folks.

But Atlantica, I would like to say a lot of people found the song that won be sincere and delightful, and it was actually from a film that didn't get much notice, so it's a good thing it got such recognition. I'm actually fine that no Enchanted songs won. The songs came from people who already won many awards, and the songs all totaled three nominations and performances from that team and that film, and obviously people love those songs, too.

Exactly!! Kristin is Kristin and she never tried to be Giselle and did her own thing, that's why it's called singing technique and Kristin definitely has that!
She was performing the song and a song changes everytime somebody else performs it.

I was really disappointed none of the Enchanted songs won, but I expected it since it was the same situation like Dreamgirls last year.

I thought Kristin did a wonderful job! I still don't quite understand why Amy Adams didn't perform the number herself, but I thought Kristin was great, as usual!

Kristin did a beautiful job, but I didn't like the operatic moments during the song much. Otherwise, it was great.

Amy Adams... Amy Adams... I felt so sorry for her. She looked so nervous, but she did it anyway, and she did it well. Very cute!

I didn't watch all of "So Close" but, I thought the set was amazing.

I think "Enchanted" was robbed. I never would have even heard of the movie from which the song came from if it wasn't for one of Leonard Maltin's shows. Anyway, we can take in comfort that all three Enchanted songs were fantastic, anyway. What are Oscars anyway? Just somebody's opinions melted into a gold statue.

It's not necessarily whether or not you've heard of the movie, it's about the song in the movie, and what it does for the movie. Granted, I was a big fan of Enchanted and would have like to see it win the award for one of the songs. However, the song that DID win was a beautiful song and I do believe that it was deserving.

Well, I didn't mean it didn't deserve to win, but I think Enchanted may have been just as deserving, I just meant that I wouldn't have heard of it for not a random TV show I watched.

And to be truthful, I did skip over the song. It looked boring. In the morning you don't want to watch boring.

Anyway, like I said, Oscars are just somebody's opinions melted into a statue. I mean if I handed out golden Umbrellas and called the progam the Academy of UmbrellaFish Awards and had been doing it for 80 years, people would think it was prestigious, too. I didn't know much about the academy, and to be truthful, I was surprised that people in the movie buisness could be members. That doesn't sound fair to me.

I was a little let down Enchanted didn't win best original song, however I am not surprised. I knew this would happen from the start.

Thank you so much for posting the videos, akhenaten and atlanticaunderthesea!!!!!!!! I thought that both Kristin and Amy did absolutely wonderful! It's a shame that Amy couldn't have had a movie screen behind her to show footage from the film of the animals cleaning up. I liked how she still acted the part, though.

What song did win for Best Song?

It is TRULY, when they have returned to their roots, sad that Disney does not get a win for 'Best Original Song'.
Man has a dream
And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true
For you and me!
