Surely Neville Chamberlain's "I have in my hands a piece of paper" press release was the most embarrasing of all time (in retrospect)?Mr. Toad wrote:No announcement yet, but they have removed HD-DVD Sweeney Todd from the schedule after Tuesday's contribution to most embarrasing press releases of all time announcing that and two other titles as coming to HD-DVD.

I don't know what type of gamer you are, but I think the PS3 is a much better system in my opinion. But I am not hear to bash any other systems. I now really do think that the PS3 has it all (since Blu-Ray won format war). Thing like Playstation Home are going to be awesome, and others throughout the year. You can get good deals on PS3. i know Target had something if you buy a system you get a $40 gift card (with that you can buy the Blu-Ray remote, or just use the controller since its wireless anyways), or buy a game of your choice with $20 more. It's up to you though.Mr. Toad wrote:By the time you get all the add ons like the necessary remote control though its over $400. And I have come close on multiple occaisions to buying one. I guess the only thing stopping me is my WII. Dont want two systems but I guess that is irrelevant if I dont buy any games(except Justice League Heroes)MICKEYMOUSE wrote:^^ Ummm it is called a PS3. For $399.99 you get the best Blu-Ray player out on the market, it can also plays games, has a hard drive, can go on the internet (surf web), and can be updated via the internet (Firmware updates).

I'm sort of the same with the PS3... I was almost set to buy one since Blu-ray has won, but now I'm starting to change my mind. The reason is I'm really not sure how much I would use it for anything other than Blu-rays.
I will agree that right now it is the best choice for a player, but the new Profile 1.1/2.0 players coming later this year will probably change that. Several are priced cheaper than the PS3, and if they have similar or better performance I'll probably go that route instead of the PS3.
Some HD DVD news... The fire sales are starting for HD DVD owners. CostCo has lowered the HD-D3 (their version of the HD-A3) to $79. You get the first two Bourne movies in the box and 5 free from Toshiba (until the end of Feb). While HD DVD is dead, this is still a good deal on a good upconverting player. Also a good deal for current HD DVD owners to pickup a spare player. HD DVDs are getting clearanced at a lot of places as well.

A word of caution, I have seen in a least two places that Toshiba has stopped honoring the five free discs. That being said, you are buying a great SD-DVD player with two really good movies for $80.DarthPrime wrote:Some HD DVD news... The fire sales are starting for HD DVD owners.
