Welcome to the forum, Stitch_the_blue_dude!!! :stitch:

I'm a big fan of Lilo and Stitch too, as many of the board members can testify

If you haven't got the DVD yet, I suggest you wait until next year when the Special Edition will be coming out to coincide with the theatrical release of Lilo & Stitch 2 :)

Hi everyone,

I just joined after finding out about the site when researching aspect ratios for Disney animated DVD's.

I am 39 years old, and I just started building my DVD collection. I never owned DVD's or VHS's, because I was never motivated to watch most movies a second time (or so I thought at least within a 1-2 year period of time after seeing it the first time). I decided that I loved the magic of animated movies so much that I could watch many of those more than once in a 1-2 year period. So, I set out to collect animated DVD's that I felt were so special that I would be motivated to watch more than once (if even for just the incredible animation - as opposed to an overrall great movie). Here is what I have so far:

=========================================
A. 2-D animation
=========================================
[Disney]

Welcome to the board, sbondi.

You've certainly got a great collection there, in keeping with your aim of collecting quality animation. Good to see the Creature Comforts on there :)

One question though....what happened to E and F ? :?

The mystery of "E" through "F"

Post by sbondi »

Hey Loomis,

Oops, when I originally composed the list, I had more categories:

A. 2-D animation
B. 3-D computer animation
C. 3-D stop-motion animation
D. 2-D animation with live-action
E. 3-D computer animation with live-action
F. 3-D stop-motion animation with live-action
G. Purchased then given away after viewed
H. Plan to purchase

I consolidated "D", "E", and "F" into one ("D"), and forgot to reletter the remaining two categories :(

Technically, there are many special sub-categories under these categories when you consider movies like "The Iron Giant" that have a 3-D computer-generated main character (made to look more 2-D), "Spirit" using many computer-generated shots for its main character, and "Dinosaur" using 3-D computer-generated characters with mostly live-action backgrounds - to name a few ;)

Regards :)

Ok, that makes sense.
The longer you stay at the board, you'll see that it is not wise to confuse the Loomis unduly. He gets all wacky. And spins.

Without pants.

It all goes pear-shaped after that...

Um, actually, I just realized recently how much I love Disney. I used to like Japanese animation, but, ah...Americans are way better at drawing and story telling.

Anyway, my favorite Disney movie has always been Aladdin. I remember seeing it, like a million times in the theater, and not just for the Genie either. Now, I buy all sorts of Disney merchandise wherever I go(I have this really cool Aladdin memo pad that I got while in DisneySea!). Yup, yup. Fun, fun, fun.

Oh, and Eisner sucks. :)

I don't hate anime and manga; I just don't like it as much as I used to. I used to really like Cardcaptor Sakura, Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon, and Kaitou Saint Tail. All of the ones you were mentioned are great! Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service are also good, and so is Hime-chan no Ribon and Furikuri(FLCL is messed up, though...reminds me of Loomis).

Blah, enough about that, though.

It's funny, I've been on this forum since New Years 2004 and I'm finally posting my Disney story. I should be doing my homework, but I know I'll never post my story if I don’t do it now.

So where to begin, but the beginning?
It was a cold November morning when Mother arrived at the hospital...lol, jk  ! Anyhow, the earliest Disney memories I have are when me and Escapay and my sister (who happens to be working and living at WDW this very minute unless you're reading this after August 2004) used to dance to Disney records and watch the Sing-a-long song videos when we were kids. The Heigh Ho tape had "Pirates of the Caribbean" and it scared the heck out of me, so I ran off when that sing-a-long came on. I ran off to the outside deck and played with Escapay's Disneyland train set until the video was finished. After that I recall watching Cinderella when it came out on video for the very very very first time in the 1980's.

My first Disney movie in the theatres was Aladdin, which was also my first movie theatre movie. We watched it 5 times :D ! Other memories include seeing Lion King and Mulan in theatres and watching Disney Afternoon and getting Disney toys from McDonalds. We even had a Mickey Mouse bathroom. Let’s just say the whole family loved Disney (me loving it the most). The 25th Anniversary of WDW suddenly got me to research anything Disney. From reading tour books, biographies, and magazines, I tried to absorb almost everything Disney (I can’t stand Pooh. His ride is awesome, but I still can’t stand what he’s become). Every school year when we learn about stocks in math or history, I always always choose DISN as one of them. I’ve done 2 or 3 biographies on Walt Disney for school and just this year my thesis paper was on the influence of Walt Disney on American culture. It turned out really good and I was sad that there was an 8 page limit.

I love Walt Disney World and all Disney theme parks (life goal: visit all of them, including the new Hong Kong one opening sometime next year :D ) and I want to live there and work there! Even if I just end up selling t-shirts and pins (another collection besides DVDs), I’ll still feel like my life has been somewhat fulfilled.

I found this wonderful site last summer, which was my Harry Potter summer (heck, just remembered I love that too. I even combined HP with Disney in a very long, cheesy, unfinished fanfiction “Harry Potter Goes to Walt Disney World”), and got the most wonderful news and reviews and previews from UltimateDisney ( :D Thank you Luke!)! Now I’m 17 and I still love Disney. My room is filled with Disney posters and my music collection is comprised mostly of Disney CDs. People at school know I’ll occasionally make a Disney reference or will ask me about something Disney. My DVD collection continues to grow and my Wish List is growing too. I’m still having trouble getting some b/c my Dad has this philosophy that the DVD’s not worth getting if we already have it on VHS  .

Disney is very special to me and I see it as my Happy place :P ! All in all, I know I’m forgetting some experiences, but that’s the cliff notes version of my Disney story.

p.s. Just remembered something silly! Everytime we watched Sleeping Beauty when we were little, me and my bro and sis would act out the parts of the fairies. My brother was Flora, my sister was Fauna, and I got the most fun part of Merryweather. Lol, we used unsharpened pencils as magic wands  .

I am KAI. I am 15 yrs and my favorite Disney movie is The Jungle Book.
It all started when I was about 3-4 I started watching Disney Afternoon(Talespin, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, Gummie Bears, etc..) I live in CA and I've been to Disneyland about 12 times! :P
Anyways when I was 8-9 yrs. I stayed with my grandma and small sister everyday in the summer cuz of vaction and everyone else worked. I was bored so evey day my sister and me got into trouble outside(breaking windows, walking around the block, etc.....) so my grandma made us stay inside. We watched Jungle Book and Petes Dragon everyday and I mean everyday! I started my Disney DVD obsession when I wanted to own a piece of magic. I have so many Disny memories. I even remember meeting the Gummi Bears at DL, and one took my pacifire away and i hated the purple granfatherie gummie bear for awhile.(He took it away because my mom wanted me 2 get rid of it , Iwas 4 and years old, later(years later) she told me, she asked him to take it away...evil
I hope to work and DL when I am an adult, maybe an artist(I'm good at drawing) and in college I hope to be a Disney character at Dl to make kids and grown-up fans of disney happy. I hope to be King Louie, Baloo, Brer Bear, I dont really care cuz it will be a fun job.
MyDisney DVD collection is as follow:

Jungle Book 2
Tex
Alice in Wonderland (masterpiece addition)
That Darn Cat
Lion King
Robin Hood
Who framed Roger Rabbit?

Soon to buy :
Jungle Book (2005)
Boy Meets World 1st season
Rescuers Down Under
etc........

You have me curious now.
What is this FLCL you speak of, and how does it remind you of me? :D

I'm also curious because I really like the other Ghibli films you mentioned there...
