a new thought about the series and movies 1,2,3,
if they leave out stuff and make up a whole new
childhood for ariel which they are doing, there will be
a lot of conflicting scenes...
like if you decide watch the series then movies 1,2,3,
you would be very confused! as it wont run smoothly at all.
continuity goes out the window!
yay i have TLM DVD!

man, I really hate it when companies use that photoshop effect to lazily add 3dness to everything. its distracting and doesnt look good at all. if you cant spend the time to add shading frame by frame to make it look good you shouldnt do it at all. when will they learn that automated shading techniquques just dont look right? it makes everyhing look blobby.

sorry, but I just had to vent.

well, it's not the first time sequels and series have conflicted stories.. for example.. Timon and Pumbaa's first meeting was different than TLK 1 1/2 , there was an episode in Dalmatians where Lucky finds out that Thunderbolt doesn't do his own stunts (or something to that effect). and an episode where Stitch reverts (thanks to Hamersterviel) back to his bad side.. though in the Timon and Pumbaa first meeting was handled better in TLK 1 1/2 ..

Also, in the original "Lion King" Timon said "Who's the monkey?" when Rafiki showed up to tell TImon, Pumbaa and Nala that Simba went back to pride rock, while in TLK 1 1/2 he met Rafiki earlier...

But let's get back to talking about TLM III ;)

Well, color me disappointed. Not to mean I won't buy the movie when it comes out (please, I've bought worse), but it doesn't appear as if it'll be that interesting. The animation isn't horrible, but it's far from eye-catching (not that there would be that many flashy scenes in this film; Ursula provided most of them in the original). And the story (or what we know of it)? More fluff, less substance. Still, I wasn't expecting much from Bambi II, but I was pleasantly surprised with that too.

I think there is definately a secret about the story, something that has to with Ariel's mom and I guess it's a good think they keep it a secret.

That's a good thought. Is this the first Direct-to-Video they've ever been so vague about? Maybe it's just the excitement, but could Disney be giving us the cold shoulder for a reason?

Don't worry, Vermin Friends has told you incorrectly. This is a prequel tto the first film, and is set before Ariel ever meets Eric. So, Eric will not be in this film. TLMIII is, I think, about how Triton, for some reason, banned music and Ariel plans to do something about it. That is probably the most basic way of saying it, but that is the best way for me to say since I really don't know if this is correct or not. If you are unsure, I'm sure there are many posts about the plot and I'm sure with a little investigating you can easily find your answer.
According to the storyboard Disney Duster found (which was added to the first post), this film will be in story-telling format, similar to Cinderella 2's format. It's a midquel, set in between the first and second film, but it tells a story, which is a prequel.

Also, I'm hoping Disney is being a little more secretive about it for a reason, too. Maybe they'll do something that'll blow our minds and make us fall in love with Disney all over again. Here's hoping! :)

Hope so, although I'm still wondering why they took Sally Field out of Ariel's mother's role and have her play Marina Del Rey.

Unless there was a solid press release stating that Sally Field was to play Ariel's mother ("Athena"), I'm probably going to have to say that that was just an assumption. Someone probably knew about Ariel's mother's character, and probably about the fact that Sally Field was joining the returning cast, so this person most likely just put the pieces together.

I took a look at the storyboards, and I can read it or a bulk of it at least........ I'll leave ____ for words I can't make out as well, or am not sure of. I'll stick to dialogue the most instead of camera angles etc.

I'll start from the second row, since thats where the dialogue starts, the rest is just Camera Angles, pans, shots etc. The womans name is Magda, unless that's been covered already.

#1: A Splendid day at sea

#2: Eh my dear?

#3: Oh lowrey (or lordy) I can hardly contain myself

#3: "umph"

#4: Dis is hopeless (this is the picture of Ariel beside the Umph)

#5:-11: Is mostly Sebastien talking about them looking for a white whale with one horn. I found that odd since whales don't have horns......at least not to my knowledge

The last two with Eric, is him asking if someones crabby, and then saying sorry I hit a sore subject.

I might have just repeated what other people have said, but honestly I wasn't about to search through all 50 pages to check :P

Wow... 3 things....

1.) Chernabog_Rocks, how did you see storyboards!?!?!?! And why havn't you told us about this crazy access sooner!?!

2.) I have no clue what this scene could possible be about, what do all the pictures look like?

3.) Who's to say that Marina Del Rey and Ariel's Mother aren't the same person? (add gasps and lots of dramatic music here)

There's a link to it on the first post, but I have a link that shows a bit larger image I think.

I stand corrected :P

Thanks Old Fish Tale, for bringing up Narwhals. However, I wonder why they would be looking for a Narwhal (if they are) because they live in cold climates, Hudson Bay, Russia, Greenland, Baffin Bay etc. I always assumed The Little Mermaid takes place father south than those areas, of course being Disney they probably dont' care about an animals population distribution.

Although TLM did originate in Denmark which is considered a scandinavian country....

You know,i think thi storyboard was made for The Little Mermaid II and got deleted, not for Ariel's Beginning, this website has also a storyboard for Little Mermaid II (and for Tarzan II and 2 that looks like sequels for Arsitocats and Chicken Little).

No it's clearly stated [Disney Duster proved this] that this was some leaked Storyboard for Mermaid III. Whether it will be used for Ariel's Beginning or not is clearly up for debate. As It can be scrapped. But that was or still is, a storyboard for Mermaid III.

I really hope Eric is not in this. I think it would ruin the movie. It would end up like Cinderella II, with the mice telling the story.

i hope that scene gets scrapped.
