So, why is The Breakfast Club so compulsively watchable?

I don't get it...I've seen the movie twice in its entirely (once for scholastic reasons and once for enjoyment) and it was on TV Land tonight...and I couldnt help myself but watch what was left of it when I turned it on...

Is something wrong with me?

No.

I've seen the film more times than I can remember and it doesn't matter how early on in the film it is or how near to the end it is, I'll stop whatever I'm doing and watch.

It's an addictive lazy-Saturday film. And it should get better treatment on DVD. There's a 2.5 hour version that John Hughes owns, as well as the theatrical and television versions. Would be great to have all three, along with a cast commentary, making of documentary, and theatrical trailer.

Another thing................all of us, no matter where we are in life, can relate to being in detention at one time or another like these kids. It is just the perfect movie, with a great cast, and great music, and John Hughes hit his high point with this film. The watchability factor is very high - on a scale of 1-10, I would give this one at minimum at big fat 11!!!!

A lot of kids never got detention. I was not the best of lads, but I never got it.

Personally, the only films from the "Brat Pack" and members of that group that I really like are "Sixteen Candles" and "Weird Science".

They always showed this movie to us on the last day of school. Atleast like 3 years in a row or something. Haha

The Breakfast Club is a really great movie and the good thing about it was that I got it for $7 at BB last year when it was on sale.
Another two films from John Hughes that are great are 16 Candles and Pretty in Pink. Nope not really a Weird Science fan but it's still a good film to see.

John Hughes made some great movies; with a cozy and comfortable feeling which makes them very watchable.

Kids of the 80's took this movie into the new century. It's one of the all-time greats.

I think everyone has at least 1 movie that they'll end up watching whenever it's on. Whether it's on TV or someone you know is watching the DVD/VHS. Whether it's edited on TBS / AMC, or not.

This is that movie for a lot of people. The 1980's was a great decade for movies. No doubt about that.
