The Forum vs. Hannah Montana

Post by Big Disney Fan »

This, my friends, is where you can do all your knocking of Hannah Montanna, which I despise that show as much as the next guy, but Disney just seems to LOVE. I don't know why. I don't know why "Hannah Montana" is so popular. Anyway, here is where you can do all the attacks of that show you want. Have fun!

I like it too. :P

Still, even as a fan I can point out its shortcomings. For starters they have GOT to get a more realistic laugh track.

Also, they seem to have really downplayed the "Hannah Montana" portion, as most episodes I've seen in recent months focus more on Miley than on Miley as Hannah. That's not really a complaint, I always preferred the Miley stories over the Miley as Hannah ones. But still, I like a healthy balance between the two.

Can someone please get rid of Rico? He's more annoying than Jackson, and I only tolerate Jackson because he plays off well against Miley (the Jacksannah episode being a great, if overdone, example). Rico is about as useless as Amber & Ashley, who thankfully have been used less than they were before.

Oliver has been downgraded as far as appearances go, he never seems to be part of the A-story anymore, which is a pity. I think the best thing his character has done was his flour sack baby with the always environmentally-friendly Sarah was priceless. I'd like Sarah to become a contract character (replace Rico with her!) and let them further explore the Oliver/Sarah angle.

I miss Jake Ryan. Sure he was a bit of a creep when he first appeared, and a bit of a jerk when he returned, but he redeemed himself with his latest appearance. It'd be great to see his character's relationship with Miley develop further beyond the I-love-you-no-wait-I-only-like-you-but-I-really-love-you cycle.

And of course, Lilly is perhaps the best reason to watch the show. She's more talented, more entertaining, and more comedic than Miley/Hannah. Disney should really begin prepping a Lilly spin-off when Hannah Montana reaches its eventual end.

Thank You! I can't stand him, he just irks me so much! He's nothing but a little smartmouthed jerk(and a cheap one too)! I would much rather have Sarah in then him. I like Sarah a lot actually her character is cool, kinda quirky, but cool.

Anyways, for myself, I don't really have anything to attack the show with because I really like it...I actually like it a little more then The Suite life of Zach and Cody which used to be my favorite Disney Channel series.

Muhahamuhaha!
This is my kind of thread!

Let's start with the acting. Miley Cyrus is not a good actress. She tries, and maybe it time she'll get better. Jason Earls, I actually like him. He can act I think. Mitchell Muso is pretty good too, but like Escapay said, he's hardly used. Sometimes I wonder why Disney hasn't canceled his contract as he's been used so little. I've heard though, that a Hannah Montana episode will air about Oliver and diabetes. If it does happen, somehow Miley and Lilly will take the spotlight, though. That brings me to Emily Osment, whom, actually may be the best actor on the show. I actually, don't have a burning hatred for Rico, though. I guess I just like eccentric, annoying characters.

I can't stand this series except for the guest stars. Being a Tennessean and being one that's been to DollyWood at least twelve times, I have to say I enjoy the Dolly Parton guest spots. And being a Mama's Family fan, I also love Vicki Lawrence's apperances. Those are the only episodes I can bare to watch.

Miley's singing is... okay. Better than her acting, but one can only hear "Best of Both Worlds" only so many times. And it makes it worse that my youngest sister just got a Hannah Montana CD.

Now to the merchandise. Boy, does Disney know how to milk a cow. I went to Wal-Mart a couple nights back and they had this little chunk of the store devoted to Hannah Montana. They were dolls, wigs, cereals, CDs, DVDs, lotions, purses, hats, and all kinds of other junk. It's sickening. Even High School Musical wasn't that bad.

And now on to Miley Cyrus herself. I'm kinda concerned about the pictures. She is a role model, and that could be putting pressure on her. Disney needs to intervene. They've help ruin a lot of people, and they should try to prevent this. Not only would it be terrible for Disney if their golden girl messed her life up, but it would be terrible for Miley Cyrus's life too.

I have no intrest in this series, nothing to do with her-its just not my thing. Now I have been looking at people's ratings for this new movie of hers and there are many people giving it very low reviews. Why? It was a concert film by a 15 year old girl, what did they expect? It made $29 million by the way on only a little over 600 screens.

Emily Osment IS the only reason to watch this show, Escapay!

And the fact that I met her makes it even more entertaining! :P :)

I don't HATE Hannah Montana; she's a bit over-played but it's a decent show. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's better than Suite Life (I absolutely LOVE that show), but it's not terrible.

I, too, can't stand Rico. I think Jackson has a lot of funny moments and Oliver cracks me up even more. Lily is way better than Miley, but not as funny as Oliver or Jackson, in my opinion.

I love the episode when Lily made Miley a cake so she could go to the tennis match, then Oliver tells her she's pathetic and gives her a shirt with their faces and a rainbow on it.

Oh, and some of Hannah's songs are a bit catchy. xD

A bit off topic, but Wizards of Waverly place is also a decent show. I think it's way better than Cory in the House.

here's how i think i'd rank the current, running, disney channel live action shows:

1) cory in the house (not for cory, but i like newt, meena, sophie and the actors who portray them)
2) wizards of waverly place
3) the suite life (i loathe the sprouse twins, they are incredibly annoying and over-act, but i like brenda song and ashley tisdale)
4) hannah montanna

i just don't like hannah montanna. i like the guest appearences, but i just feel miley cyrus is a terrible actress. that's my opinion, it's not fact. i don't like her singing voice. she's pretty, though, prettier than selena gomez (again, that's my opinion). the show is unfunny, and annoying.. once more, say it with me, in my opinion.

don't even get me started on the sprouse twins.. but i do, as i said, really like ashley tisdale and brenda song. they're a breath of fresh air in an overacted sitcom.

i do really like cory in the house. the adult cast, (with the exception of the president's advisor lady) are annoying (i don't remember mr. baxter being so stupid on that's so raven..) and i'm not a fan of cory. jason dolley's a pretty good actor, so is maiara walsh, and i like meena and newt. plus, the writing's not that bad, and it's not as.. what's the word.. "silly" or overacted as most disney channel shows. i certainly see it's shortcomings, however.

I'm neutral. A number of the songs have grown on me, but I'm neutral to the series itself. I do not regularly watch it. Jackson and Rico are very annoying, yes.

this show is just absolute garbage!!!

i didn't know acting could get so bad, and i took acting classes with novices.
the first time i saw it i was amazed that the whole entire cast had such poor acting skills;
and how could THAT get so much ratings??? the jokes aren't even funny yet the laugh tracks make it seem like its hilarious.

Jackson is the only funny character in the whole show. other than that Hannah Montana is pure overrated fluff.

i seriously can't believe how any of any of thhose people have an acting job, i can belive how the show is succesful just because the concept is a
pretty good idea and all little girls want to be a pop star (heck i would love to have the best of both worlds), but then the script comes and it all
turned into crap, so now not only is the acting bad but also the stories are bad;but again its a really good concept, and sadly that's all i can say for
the quality of this show.

last month we had spirit week at my school and one of the days we got to dress up as our heroes and you would not believe how many little girls
were wearing blond wigs!!! is this really what it has come down to??? do people relly like garbage like this???

I hate this show. My sister watching this everyday doesn't help either.
Jackson is okay but still the jokes and stuff are too forced and crappy.

Emily Osment is only cute one I can stand looking at.

Nothing that comes out of the Disney Channel makes me laugh anymore. This show is just garbage and I really can't understand how anybody older than 4 or 5 can enjoy it at all (sorry to anybody older than 5 who likes this show, but that's just my opinion).

I have a 9 year old daughter. I am so glad my 9 year old could care less about Hannah Montana and many other shows like it. I kiss the ground for that gift.

1.) I don't have to listen/watch the show
2.) I don't have to listen to that music.
3.) I don't have to disappoint her because I refuse to pay that much money to see an actress sing songs.

I'm a huge Disney Channel fan, and I love all the shows. I pay more attention to the stories than to the acting, but I will admit that it isn't the best acting in the world. I really like Hannah's/Miley's music, and I think that that really adds to the show. I just saw Miley in concert, and she puts on a great show.

I like Rico & Jackson...I think that they're really funny. Granted, I'm easily amused, but I still say they're funny! I like Amber & Ashley less than I like Rico & Jackson, but I still like them. Disney should sign Shanica Knowles to Hollywood Records, if she would want a recording contract- she has an amazing singing voice!

Los Angeles (E! Online) - The Hannah Montana rule of economics: If you charge more money for your tickets than Jessica Alba, you can make more money.

And she did.

The 3D concert movie Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds topped the weekend box office with a record-setting $29 million, per studio estimates compiled Sunday by Exhibitor Relations.

Alba's new horror movie, The Eye, debuted in second, with $13 million.

The Eye played in your standard 2D theater, where the nationwide average ticket price is just under $7. Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus played at 683 specially equipped 3D moviehouses, where the average ticket price is $15, according to Exhibitor Relations' Jeff Bock.

"You're talking about a film opening in the low teens had it not been in 3D," Bock said Sunday.

Still, based on a guesstimate of admissions (dividing average ticket price by number of screens), Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus outsold The Eye 1.93 million tickets to 1.86 million.

Even more impressive, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus, according to Exhibitor Relations, is the first to open number one while exclusively playing at 3D theaters. (Other 3D movies, including Spy Kids 3D: Game Over and Jaws 3-D, have debuted at No. 1, too, but they played at regular, old 2D theaters.)

Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus, based on footage shot during the Disney Channel-spawned concert tour last summer, was only supposed to appear in theaters for one week. But strong ticket presales and big business have extended the run at least another week.

If the movie hangs around much longer, Bock said, U2's new self-titled 3D concert film, currently in limited release, where it made another $762,049 this weekend, for a two-week take of $2.2 million, will have trouble finding available screens and thus troubling breaking wide.

Given Ms. Montana's muscle, Bono would be advised to avoid a tussle.
Some of you may not like it.... but Miss Miley has style...

I saw it.. I guess they did a thing on the a Saint Louis Radio Station contest to win backstage passes plus tickets to the conecter when it hit saint louis MO...they had Dads run a derby... a Dads IN High Heels Derby and the winner would win the above stated...That part made me laugh...

I had no idea Radio Stations in Saint Louis MO still did crazy contests like that... as oppose to we will take caller number 15

. Although its now being exteneded another week.... according to the article

He's voicing a supporting character on "Phineas & Ferb" now.

Furthermore, it's not like Disney to outright cancel an actor's contract unless said actor has actually done something to merit it.

According to imdb, Muso will be 17 this year. Most Disney Channel regulars have practically dropped into obscurity after they turned 18. And if I were a betting man, I'd bet that his contract is set to expire in 2009.
And now on to Miley Cyrus herself. I'm kinda concerned about the pictures. She is a role model, and that could be putting pressure on her. Disney needs to intervene. Disney doesn't need to intervene. They've already intervened enough by marketing the @#$% out of Miley/Hanna.

Besides, her dad (Billy Ray "Achy Breaky Heart" Cyrus) is a case study in rapid risers to fame and he came out of it just fine. With that kind of strong support in her life, I just don't think Miley will burn out and ruin her life like other teen celebrities have.

Miley may not be that great of a singer (her music is very production-heavy and her vocals sound processed), but I predict that after Hanna Montana's popularity has ended, Miley will go on to release a couple country albums, have a brief career as a film star, and then get married, and have babies and settle down to a nice quiet country life.
