Disney Store PVC sets
Disney Store PVC sets
Can anyone tell me if these PVC sets are new to the Disney Store or something older as they were not there whan I last visited a Disney Store last spring:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Disney-PVC-Beau ... p1638.m118

Since I asked last year and was offered some help I thought someone here might help me again. I'm really excited that Ariel's sister and Phillipe are now PVCs. Are there any variant sets on Beauty and the Beast like some other sets have? I was hoping for a Maurice and LeFou.
Many thanks in advance!!

I'm pretty sure these are fairly new. They came to a Disney Store near me sometime before Christmas and after Thanksgiving. That's when I noticed them anyway. I don't like the Ariel and her sisters one though. It has a weird artistic look to them all, like the weird dolls they created for them. I would've prefered if they would've just kept them closer to model like the other sets do.
Are both Little Mermaid and sisters sets readily available or has one replaced the other? When I was at the Disney Store last spring they didn't have both Cinderella sets and ebay sellers want more than double for any PVC set so I still haven't got that yet. Why does the Disney Store put out 2 PVC sets with overlap duplicate figures instead of a really strong set with all the characters? It makes it hard for people like me who don't get to a Disney Store that often.
When will Mulan be released? I'm planning another trip this spring. With gas being what it is and the closest Disney Store to me being over 3 hours away I don't get to one very often. We used to have one a few miles from me but they closed it in 2003 or 2002 and without warning. I literally was there on a Wed. and returned Friday to buy something I saw and it was gone. I complained to Disney about how fast it vanished and they blew me off. Anyway, are there any other upcoming PVC sets? Who will be in the Mulan set? Did Enchanted get a set? What I love about the new Disney Store PVC sets is that they often contain characters never done as PVCs before. Mulan will probably be a prime case for that since there really wasn't much of a Mulan PVC set in 1998.

Do you know what all has been released up to now? I know of:
2 Cars
3 Cinderellas
2 Pirates
1 Peter Pan
3 Princess
1 Fairies
1 Nightmare Before Christmas
1 Robinsons
1 Mickey and Friends
2 Jungle Book
1 Narnia
3 Little Mermaid
1 Beauty and the Beast
1 Aladdin
and I assume 1 Ratatoullie.
What else is there? And I know about the reissued Lilo and Nemo in this format.

The Sleeping Beauty set is fairly new, having come out just last year sometime. I can't recall the exact month in which we received it. Other PVC sets not mentioned yet are Bambi and The Lion King. We get very small shipments of the Bambi set, every few months and they sell out pretty quickly, so around here it's a hard set to find. I'm sure we'll be seeing an Aristocats set in the near future with the DVD being released in Feb. The Ariel and her sisters set is not replacing the Little Mermaid set, it's just a new line of toys. As for the PVC sets at Target, they are completely different because Disney Store merchandise is exclusive. You can't get it anywhere else.

On the Fairies PVC set--it's fairly new too. I also work for a Disney Store and have seen only 2 cases of the Fairies set one time in early December, and haven't received any since that I know of.
Here's a pic of that set:

And an amusing note on the new 101 Dalmatians set. I had a guest last week with her daughter (about 6-7 yrs old) who bought 2 of the sets. When I handed them to the girl, she announced, "Now I only need to get 12 more sets and I'll REALLY have 101 dalmatians!"
And there are actually 3 Cars PVC sets. The "deluxe" one is a 10-pc, but I forget which two characters are left out from the other two 6-pc sets.
And yes, there's a Ratatouille set too. If you can find it in stock at a Disney Store, it's probably on clearance for less than $5 currently.
Here's a link with a pic, along with photos of several other of the PVC sets:

And if you really want to be 100% complete, there are two Power Rangers PVC sets as well that are Disney Store exclusives. The first one for Operation Overdrive is currently on clearance, and the new set features Jungle Fury.

The Jungle Book set at Target has Disney Store PVCs in it because I got the playset online from the Disney Store site and the Baloo and Mowgli are they same. Target has a Princess set and a Cinderella set too. I thought it was strange myself but they are out there. On ebay there is a set with the girl and the elephant that replace some characters in the target set. I wish they'd just put all the characters in 1 set, charge a few dollars more and be done with it. It's hard trackingh down variants when you're Disney store-less.

Ah, they're just using the same mold for certain characters it seems. Well, the Disney Store pvc sets are exclusive, and have the logo right on the packaging. If you're just trying to collect the ones from Disney Store exclusively, I wouldn't bother with the Target (or any other stores that sell Disney product for that matter) sets, unless you want any Disney related pvc sets you can get your hands on.

But the Target PVCs even come packaged the same as the Disney Store ones, logo and all. (I have other PVC sets from the Disney store and they're the same packaging) That's why this is so weird. It's like the Disney Store is now putting their product out into other stores. So it's more than a case of just using the same mold.
The Cinderella set at Target is different than the set I have from the Disney Store. I haven't got that one yet. I'm not sure if the Princess set is the same but I think it is or has more Princesses in it than the one I got from the Disney Store. It sold out super fast.
I have around 2,000 Disney PVCs from all over the world so I'm not just your average Disney pvc collector. I'm quite impressed with the sculpts of the current Disney Store PVCs compared to their past efforts but the PVC is a cheaper grade and the paint is often sloppy. Still the sculpting has never been better.
Why don't you go to Target and check out for yourself? I'd like to know what the story on this is but I'm certain these Target versions come from the same factory, packaging and all, as the Disney Store ones.

I just helped open a new Disney Outlet Store this week, and one of the execs from the Corporate office was present and told our entire cast, "From this point on, all product carried by Disney Store will be exclusive to Disney Store."UncleEd wrote:But the Target PVCs even come packaged the same as the Disney Store ones, logo and all. Up until recently, Disney Store has actually been in competition with the Disney theme park and resort stores, and online as well. But no longer, according to what we were told this week.
However, I will confirm that UncleEd is correct in saying that both the Cinderella and Jungle Book PVC sets at least are indeed being sold in Target stores. You can see for yourself at target.com HERE and HERE.
Why Target is stocking these exclusive Disney Store PVCs, I have no clue. Must be some kind of arrangement with the vendor and/or distributor.
There is a princess set too.
Now up until recently the PVC sets weren't being sold on Disneystore.com. I hope they don't shut that off because it's the only way I can get them. Where did you open a Disney Store at? Tell them to open one in Erie Pennsylvania again. We had one from spring of 1994 until February of 2002 or 2003 then it just vanished. I REALLY miss my Disney store and if they were back I'd even get a job working for them. I love Disney and I bet the employee discount isn't too shabby either.
I also have a hard time seeing them cutting off the Theme Parks as well. That means Disney would have to do 2 versions of everything sold. I have a hard time seeing that happening and I doubt they lose any money "competing" with the theme parks. Remember, to compete you have to be in competition and these are just all part of the same big picture. The only way it's competition is if the Orlando or Burbank Disney Stores are losing out. But then they have Disney Stores that are part of the chain at each park or have those been closed down? They were there when Disney owned the stores.

Disney Store product has always been exclusive.
The reason so many of you lost your Disney Stores a few years ago is because Disney wasn't sure if they'd be selling the chain, or closing it for good. If a stores lease was going to be up soon, they'd just close the store instead of renewing when they didn't know where the stores were headed. That's when The Children's Place became the lucky new owners back in 2004, and are now opening up at least 600 new stores, including 3 in my stores district that were previously closed.
Disneyshopping.com is still owned by Disney, and that is the reason they stopped carrying Disney Store merchandise up until recently when they added a seperate Disney Store tab, with select Disney Store products. You can return anything from Disneyshopping, Disney Store, or Disney Outlet at a Disney Store location, for your convenience, whereas before you could not. For most people, this is all pretty confusing and silly, really. I have to explain it to guests constantly.
There are no 'Disney Stores' located at Disneyland. They have the World of Disney, which is not a part of the Disney Store chain. Disney Stores do take returns from Disneyland, again for your convenience, but nothing sold at Disneyland is the same as Disney Store. My store is only 45 minutes from Disneyland, and we get tons of returns.
I'm sure all of this has been said many, many times before, but it seems like not everyone fully understands the differences between Disney Store, Disneyshopping, and Disney parks.
I've been to Target many times and looked at the PVC sets, and never once thought that they looked exactly the same with the exception of the shape of the packaging. The ones in your link, voiceroy, are indeed not the exact same. Sure, some of the molds are, and the shape of the package, but the package design is completely different, and they do not say "Disney Store" with the white Mickey ear logo on them. It is very common to see similar products to the ones sold at the Disney Store. It is, after all, Disney.
UncleEd the discount is 30%.

So how do we get a Disney Store to return to a closed location? I've been to many malls that lost their DS only to have them return after the buy out. We have not been so lucky. Jamestown, NY would also be an ideal location for one at the Lakewood Mall and they have a couple of open spaces that could house a DS. It's a much cleaner and up to date mall than the one in Erie and just went over a major remodel.
Where are these Disney Outlet stores located at? I've heard about them many times but have never been to one.
I was last at Disney World in 1996 and at the time the Disney Village Market Place had a Disney Store that was part of the chain.
Could you show us what the Disney Store Jungle Book PVC set looks like? I have the Target one. I've seen 2 versions of a DS JB pvc set. One with the characters target has and one with the girl and the elephant. I just assume there are 2 versions like some of the other sets sold at the DS. When I put the packaging into my storage shed it was the same type as the Disney store sets and fit nicely in the box. The distribution location was the same and mine has that Mickey head logo on it. Could Target be selling other sets you haven't seen?
So will the Disney Store merchandise be dropped from the Disney.com site yet? I was going to get the Mulan and Aladdin sets they have up next month. I want to get the Cinderella set with her in the work clothes but it's not online. Just the variant version with the step sisters and step mother, which I have. Why aren't both versions offered? It's insane to pay tripple on Ebay for something that can be had at a store. Do Disney Stores do mail order like that Delivears number does with park merchandise?
Thanks!
