Anyone see this yet? I saw it today. Fantastic movie! Yes, the camera movement is a bit dizzying at times, but so very effective. It does feel like you are watching something real, rather than a movie. Normally when I watch these kinds of movies (monster destroying city), I am simply enjoying it, but not really all that effective by it, other than thinking some explosion was really cool, lol. But this movie made me jump a couple of times, because you experience things as they do, rather than see it coming.

This movie is a piece of junk. All that hand-held camera jerking around made me car-sick. And the acting is horrible, and if I wanted to see a movie that is only 73 minutes long I can watch television. They offered nothing new, and nothing original, and the only thing really cool about this movie was the seemingly unending credit crawl at the end.

If I am going to pay good money for a movie, good or bad, they better give me my money's worth in length. 73-minutes!!!!! C'mon. Wait for the DVD, there has to be some extras they will add to this to make it worse.

Ugh!!!! I was so disappointed in this film.

I enjoyed this movie a lot! I know a lot of people won't like it because what they imagined in their head is "better" but really nothing the concept artists could create would live up to the hype.

And you feel like you got your money's worth for the 73 minutes?

I've seen it last night with my boyfriend. We both enjoyed it.

I love this kind of movie. I know it might be weird but I like each and every movie ever made that is about disasters... lol

BUT, I didn't really like the hand-held camera. I was so dizzy by the end! Even though I must admit that it brings a lot more emotions to the movie.

Like dvdjunkie said, it could have been longer. But I don't know what they could have added!

So overall, I enjoyed it but it won't be in my top-5-disasters-movie! :P

Also, I think this movie is definately made for theaters. It must be horrible on a small TV at home. I think the only way to appreciate it is to see it in theaters or on a big screen (42 and over) with a home theater system.

Yes I do. I wasn't expecting anything more, so I wasn't dissapointed. I think that if it had been any longer, it would have seemed to long and would have dragged too much. I don't think it needed to be longer.

I can honestly say that Cloverfield is my favorite movie of all time! That is all.
We need season sets of all DCOSs and all DCOMs on DVD! And Better Cover Art!

If length of a movie is such a huge issue with you, maybe you should look that up before you go. I knew how long it was before I went to see it. And I agree with lord-of-sith's comments. The movie was a perfect length for what it was....Let's remember, the premise of the movie is that it is filmed by a camcorder. Last I checked, camcorder tapes last an average of 60-90 minutes. If this was a three hour long movie it would require the camera man to use two tapes and then we'd only see half the movie, as the other tape would have been lost, be it chewed up, swallowed, or simply too damaged by monster spit. 73 minutes likely means it was on a 90 min tape. It kept with the realism that this movie was filmed from a camcorder.

Correction - made to look like it was filmed from a camcorder. It wasn't, don't kid yourself. You can't do all the CGI work that was done on a camcorder.

I just say this movie and thought it was way cool. However, there are certain things you should consider before seeing Cloverfield.

- if you get sick easily, you should take a supply of Dramamine.
- the film should be considered more of an experience or ride than an actual movie.
- don't go into the film with high intellectual expectations.

All in all, Cloverfield is an awesome ride.

...I am very interested to see what kind of DVD this film gets. I would need some really good features to make me want to watch that movie on a smaller screen.

I hope they explain more. Like tell us what the creature was, where it came from and why it was so pissed off

 Agreed.

Another thing I wanted to say was that I really liked the actors in this film. Who would've thought that Janis Ian (Lizzie Caplan/Marlena) would one day explode from a monster bite??

Oh, my friend told me this bit of cool news after I walked out of the theater: If you watch carefully at the very end of the movie, when the tape cuts back to Rob and Beth's day together, you'll see Rob take the camera and pan the beach. Watch closely, and you'll be able to see a "something" drop into the water from one of the ships in the distance. Hmm...

I really liked this movie also, but I wish they would have explained more about the monster, and where can I get a camcorder like that with such a long battery life. I expect to see a sequal of this moviewhere it is not suppose to be seen through a camcorder and for it to be more like a godzilla movie

JJ said if he does a sequel, it will be done from another group of people's point of view.

Personally, I think he should make it into a traditional movie too. Show the military fighting it more from their POV
