We were looking through the newspaper weekend circulars and I saw that this NEW game was on sale at Best Buy! I really want to get it. I was going to buy High School Musical Sing It since we already have SingStar microphones, but now I'd rather have this since it's more than High School Musical:


At first I thought it would have tracks from the new Non-Stop Dance Party remixes of High School Musical 2 and Hannah Montana, but actually, there are songs from various Disney Channel shows/movies plus some from the DDR library:

Tha Amazon review this songlist is from gave it an okay review, saying that this edition of DDR was more fun and silly than hardcore DDR, but the difficulty is the same as the other games. What I'm wondering though is if these are rerecorded like the original Disney DDR or if they are remixes of the original songs.

ok,i really think they're running out of ideas on what to make.
i had read about this, but i didn't kknow the tracks included, they really should have put a lot more songs from the shows that only include theme songs for; like That's So Raven and Kim Possible, i mean they spent years making songs, music videos, and soundtracks, why not putting those into use???
also High School Musical, The Cheetah Girls, and Hannah Montana have dozens of songs out there, why only include so little???

but i guess iin a year there will be a "2nd Edition" and parents will be obligated to buy that one too.

Does this include a dance mat? Also, I wonder if this edition will come on Wii as well. Hope so.

it surprised me not to see a Wii edition; it would be a smart choice, but i don't know how all those sales went with the HSM and Hannah Montana video gamed went, so i don't know for sure if its the smartest choice.

Stupid Question time Why would it come out for the Wii if it's a game where you need a Dance Mat to play? Seems pointless unless I'm missing something here.

I'm assuming all of those non-Disney songs are there because this is being put out as DDR so therfore Konami does get to put some of their songs in if it's being released under their name or w/e.

I'll buy it if/when it comes down in price since I don't play DDR too often anymore, but I would like to try and get it eventually.

I meant to post about this a while ago, but I got the game last Sunday. My sister and I were playing DDR Supernova or whatever the newest one is and we decided we really wanted to play the Disney Channel version. We went to Wal-Mart to buy Disney DDR and a sack of potatoes.

The game is pretty good, but still just okay...I would have to say it is the best choice for people just starting to get into the DDR craze. We felt the speed of the arrows and some of music was a little slow. We kept getting bad scores because we hit the arrows too soon (or perhaps we're just bad DDR players ). Also, the combo counter is moved to the bottom of the screen in red text, so it's hard to see how many you're getting without missing a few steps.

Part of the problems with this game is the music itself. The Disney Channel songs are great, but the beat just isn't fast enough for a proper DDR dance sequence. I felt most of the High School Musical songs were hard to get into and find the beat to go with the steps. Also, another disappointment is that they rerecorded all the Disney Channel songs with sound-alikes. You'd think with the rerecordings, they'd at least remix the slower songs with a faster beat like the remixes of the Disneymania, Hannah Montana, and HSM2 albums. I don't know why Disney didn't allow the game to have the original recordings or remixes of them.

On the positive side, there are lots of fun things about this version of DDR. Even though some of the music is slow, the steps weren't toned down! Difficult is still quite difficult and advanced is definitely for advanced players. Also, the original DDRs had random characters or you would select them from the options/settings menu. The Disney Channel version makes it easier and has you choose a CGI-ified version of their popular characters from the shows and DCOMs. You can choose from:
Kim Possible, Troy or Gabriella (HSM), Maddie or Zack or Cody (Sweet Life...), Izzy (Jump In), Hannah or Lilly (Hannah Montana), Chanel or Aqua or Dorinda (Cheetah Girls), Eddie or Corey (That's So Raven)

The "Magic Mode" is an awesome battle like version where you and a friend or the computer battle out and sabatoge each other's dance sequences depending on who well you do. The more combos you get, the higher your gauge goes up and releases some sort of attack on the other player. You can either make the hollow arrows on top disapppear or rearrange or move down a beat; Also they can make the moving arrows move super fast or super slow or add more arrows. It's so difficult when the hollow arrows rearrange and change places because your brain gets so confused and fights with your feet and sense of direction! If you battle the computer in Magic Mode, you can unlock different outfits for the characters (yeah...kind of lame).

Overall, the Disney Channel version of DDR is lacking in some areas like music speed and such, but it is still a lot of fun like the other DDR games and can be quite challenging at times. We've found the theme song for Suite Life of Zack and Cody is one of the best for DDR!
