Haven't posted in here for a bit, but I've received a few in the post recently.
Just before Xmas my Treasures arrived, along with some other stuff, but I didn't pick them up from my mailing address until Xmas Day, so I got myself a Xmas present essentially.
They were, of course:
WDT: Disneyland: Secrets, Stories & Magic
WDT: The Chronological Donald, Volume Three
WDT: The Adventures of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
as well as...
The Wire - The Complete Fourth Season (for my girlfriend, mainly)
Of the Treasures, the Disneyland is the only one I have watched significant parts of as yet. I'm quite impressed so far, and the documentary was a fascinating portrait. I also particularly enjoyed all the time-lapse footage in the bonus features on Disc 2. The fact that several WDI people have taken the time to add commentary to this (as well as People and Places) was very welcome. I'm yet to see the rest of the content on Disc 2, but I tend to lap that stuff up. Oswald hasn't been touched yet, but I suspect there will be some barnyard animals; skeletons and perhaps rubber-banding....
Just this very day, I have picked up my copy of...
Blade Runner (Five-Disc Complete Collector's Edition) [Blu-ray]
The set I've been waiting for since I bought my first DVD player almost a decade ago (!). Have only had a chance to pop the first and last discs in to preview them at the moment, and I was completely blown away by the opening. After sitting through a torturous few minutes of pristine white text on a black-as-night background, we finally got to that opening shot of the Tyrell Corporation...I felt as though I'd never seen it before. It truly was a day-and-night improvement over the DVD copy I have. Looking forward to sitting down with a glass of red tonight and watching it through...
That should be it for a while, unless I cave and pick up the Highlander TV Series box at the end of January.
