UltimateDisney/DVDizzy Movie Awards 2008 - Nominations

Post by AwallaceUNC »

<center>Image</center>

Welcome to the Fourth Annual UltimateDisney.com/DVDizzy.com Movie Awards - 2008! I hope you will all join me in following in Jack Seiley's footsteps and honoring the best of 2007 in the world of film!

This is the first stage, in which you all get to nominate films in the following categories (and those categories only). You may nominate up to 5 films in each category (you may nominate less than 5, but no more than that). Please only nominate movies that you have actually seen. Nominations must come from films released in 2007 (IMDb dates will be used as the final authority). Yes, it's the 2008 Awards because that's when it takes place, but the films must come from 2007! The same film can be submitted for multiple categories. Though these awards may resemble the Academy Awards and we may look to the Academy's rules for guidance, those rules are not necessarily binding here and where there is any difference, the UD/DVDizzy Awards rules govern. Nominations for ineligible titles in any category will be disregarded.

You have until 11:59pm (eastern time) on Thursday, January 31 to submit your nominees. You may edit your votes up until that point but not after. Any posts edited after that time will have to be disqualified. The finalists will be announced shortly afterwards.

To browse through 2007 films by their US wide release date, go here: http://www.joblo.com/releases.php?mode= ... &year=2007

There have been a few changes made in the categories for this year; some have been dropped and some have been added. The categories are below:

Best Short Film
Best Sequel
Best Villain
Best Opening and/or Closing Credits
Best DVD Release of a Film
*
Best Direct-to-Video Movie of the Year**
Best Performance in a Bad Movie
Worst Film of the Year

* The DVD must have been released during 2007 but the film itself may come from any year.
** The movie itself must have made its debut during 2007 and must not have previously been released to theaters. A 2007 re-release of a movie that first received a wide release on a home video format prior to 2007 will not be eligible.

Thanks to all who participate! :)

Stay tuned... I will be posting the Third Annual UltimateDisney.com Media Awards Soon. As in years past, the nomination and voting processes for the two awards will be kept separate but they will be presented as part of the same ceremony.

I accidentally left out one category (Best Performance in a Bad Movie) when I first posted them. It's been added now. PeterPanfan, you posted before I added it, so you can add in that category to your nominees if you wish.

<i>Sweeney Todd</i>'s score is adapted from the original Broadway score and is therefore ineligible for the Best Original Score category.
TheSequelOfDisney wrote: <b><u>Best Original Song </u></b>
"I Can Wait" (performed by Nikki Blonsky; deleted scene section of Deleted Scenes) from "Hairspray"
To be eligible, a song must have actually been in the movie. Songs from deleted scenes or DVD bonus features aren't eligible. Sorry.

I have added a category: Best Short Film. At this time, I'm not going to create a separate category for animated and live-action, so feel free to include both in your nominations. Not sure how this category went overlooked for so long. I apologize for the inconvenience. If you have already posted nominations but want to nominate short films, please edit your post rather than making a new one.
