Masters of Horror: Family (2006)
Unfortunately, after this, I have zero hope for the second season of Masters of Horror. This is the second film / episode I made an effort to see, and along with The Screwfly Solution, was the second best reviewed episode of the season. Plus, shockingly, Landis's Deer Woman was more enjoyable and had more to offer. The only really good things about it were George Wendt's performance and a few of Meredith Monroe's little character quirks. By the time each of the sit-down dialogue scenes were finished, you would think the movie was improving. But, just like writer Brent Hanley's other F-horror movie, Frailty, this was pretty much doomed from the start. This is really just a tired cross between Psycho and The Last House on the Left.

Ballet Shoes (yes, the one with Hermione from the Potter movies and her eyebrows)
Absolutely adorable movie. The story is very nice and the three girls so different and just fantastic that it is a joy to watch.
The setting in the 1930's is different and as far as I can tell done very well, and the music is nice too.
It's definitely a chick flick or family movie, but lovely and fun.

I just watched No Country for Old Men.
Despite all the oscar/awards hubub I had low expectations for this movie. It just didn't look like my cup of tea.
It started off slow but got really good after a while.
Not my favorite movie, but a good one nonetheless.
Best Picture of the Year? maybe. but not my favorite.
B+
