Well, there's many necks cut; one neck sort of stabbed; some bodies sort of, uh, splatter when dropped down a hatch; remnants of human bodies found in a bakehouse... I think that's about it.

Sounds like a lot of fun.
I've been a fan of Johnny Depp before he became so immensly popular with the Pirates franchise, so seeing him return to work with Tim Burton is great and he does have a lovely singing voice, so the movie should definitely rock despite all the gore and blood that if tastefully done which I expect from Burton can only be good for the movie. I so can't wait to finally see it.
I've listened to some bits of the soundtrack and liked it a lot, but I guess it's lot better with the pictures :D .

I loved the movie as well.

There were a few gripes I had in the things they cut out.

SPOILERS

like in the beginning in the stage version where his wife meets him right after he gets off the boat.

what bothered me the most was the elimination of all the chorus singing parts. I knew the ballad was cut (sadly imo) b/c of Johnny Depp's daughter falling sick. But they cut out the chorus parts in ALL the songs, even God That's Good!! I don't know if that was cut for the same reason but I was peeved b/c of that. This also made the end surprise that the beggar woman his wife less of a shock. By eliminating a lot of the other small roles the audience sees no purpose in the woman and knows there is something hidden about her.

They also cut out "Kiss Me", one of my favorite songs that establishes relationship between Anthony and Johanna (whose part was cut down measurably, sadly)

Besides this, I loved the movie. I was worried about Helena's portrayal of Mrs. Lovett seeing her much less zany, but I grew to like it in the end.

I just got back from my third viewing of Sweeney Todd (that's how much I love it), and I must say that it was the best viewing so far. It's crazy how much flies over your head with just one or two viewings.

I'm also thrilled to see that Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and the film as a whole are all nominated for Golden Globes, and rightfully so. Let's just hope it'll have the same luck at the Oscars.

And I don't know if it's just me, but Helena Bonham Carter is amazingly sexy. Yes, even when she's as pale as a corpse. :P I'm not sure what it is, but something about her disheveled hair and make-up is just so ridiculously hot!

THANK YOU! Glad to know I'm not the only one! Yeah I can't exactly pin point it, but there's something about her that just is so sexy. But I also thought she was sexy in HP5 too, maybe even more so...

The movie has now made $26.7 million so far. A big jump since last weekend and I'm sure it will make a decent amount a the box office.

Let me just say this completely met my expectations. Magnificent, and second only to Atonement in my top list. Loved everything about it and I consider it to be the only other "perfect" film I've seen all year.

I think the exact same thing about Johnny Depp! I couldn't believe it, but on my second viewing I was just like "Wow..."

Not into horror flicks much, but this one has me interested because of all the publicity. It can't be much worse than Sleepy Hollow as far as the gore goes (I thought that was a good movie, actually.) :)

Quick questions:

Which company will distribute Sweeney? Dreamworks or Warner Bros?

I'm concerned because I would really like a Blu-ray of Sweeney, but only Warner Bros distributes Blu-ray. So, if anyone can answer, thanks.

I checked Blu-ray.com and no news was posted but I would think Warners would have more control over the distribution than Dreamworks. If Warrners did releaseit we could have an HD DVD of it too since they release stuff in both formats. I'll check every once and awhile to see if new news is posted.

If any one could help me, I'd be most appreciative. I've been searching everywhere, and if anyone might know where I would be able to buy this poster, please tell me.

To my knowledge, Dreamworks handles distribution in the US, Warner Bros. does it overseas. Methinks it will be an HD-DVD release unless Warner Bros. steps up.

To answer Sequel's question, I'd assume Sweeney'll be released on both HD-DVD and Blu-ray formats à la Dreamgirls.

Yay! The movie is still in the top 10 at the box office and has made $38.5 million. Even if the film doesn't make that much money in theatres I'm sure the soundtrack (which is selling really well right now) plus DVD sales will make it a financial success.

Thanks for all of the answers guys, I still hope that it will be released on Blu-ray, especially since Warner Bros. is now Blu-ray exclusive.

I still have yet to see the movie, but my dad has promised me that when it comes on PPV (Pay Per View) we'll watch it for $3.99. I hope it's as good as I think it will be. I have already listened to the soundtrack multiple times (especially "A Little Priest" and "Johanna") and I really want to get the whole "they're singing it during the movie, this is so cool"-vibe. Can't wait!!!

I was not expecting it to do too well, considering the material and Dreamwork's abysmal platform release, but I'm glad it's doing as well as it is. We also still have the foreign box office to account for.

finally watched this movie last wednesday!!!
i was so excited to see this, easily one of my favorite movies ever, and third best movie of 2007 in my opinion. i actually have the soundtrck playing all day long. it surprised so many people that it was a musical, even someone i went with asked me "its a musical?" and i just rolled my eyes. some people in the theater actually walked out in the first scene during "No Place Like London"...it disgusted me; but you know how ignorant most people are.

Yeah, I know. I have seen the trailer and I guess those people either didn't or just missed the part in the trailer where Depp was singing. It seems to me that people are just clueless and should really look up what there are going to see before they go and see it. They probably just thought that it was either a remake of the non-musical film (which I think there was one, not sure) or just a regular Burton/Depp colaboration. Still, that surprises me how dumb America is really becoming. Great, in 30 years everyone will be dumb and fat. Thank you delicious Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers!

Well, I have been able to upload two very poor quality videos of our performance of ST:

"The Worst Pies in London"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11He1uXs6eQ
"Pretty Women"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdBry7K7B0g

The very poor quality makes it somewhat difficult to judge the quality of the singing, but it's only temporary, as I think one of my friends is going to put up better versions soon. Hope you like it!
