i didnt care for the actress playing Ursula. i mean she did a good performance and her costume was phenom, but it wasnt Ursula to me. Not enough power and depth to pull a Pat Caroll :P

Thank you supertalies!

Hey, is that musical only in that "fairy tale park"? The Efteling?

So, I guess this mermaid knows she used to be human? I thought the spell was cast when she was too youg to remember. I like the lyrics, especially about the sea of tears and not knowing herself or being her true self! I wish there was a bit more to them than just that and what you can do on land, but ah, well.

Thanks for the lyrics,supertalies :D.
It's good but it's sounds like she allready know that she's a human, and i liked the sea of tears.
And about this:
supertalies wrote: Sometimes I don’t feel like a mermaid
But as a normal human, a human with a fish tail,
In the Disney version merpeople are humans with fins.

Mermaids ARE humans with fins. Stop trying to make it look like it's copying Disney's version.

:headshake:
I didn't say it's copying Disney,i said that merpeople (merpeople, not mermaids, there are males merpeople, too (mermaid-a female,merman-a male)) Are humans with fins, and not some siren (like i thought that they are in this version) or... like the Harry Potter merpeople, they're humans with fins.
(And in the Disney version-when you're in the sea you're a merperson and when you're on land you're a human).

Yes it is in the Efteling!

No she doesn't know
She hates it to go under the sea and then she misses those things.
And she sees humans doing those things (dancing jumping running etc).

I apologize if this was mentioned already, but I went to see it (again) yesterday, and a man that works there told me that if you pre-order the soundtrack at the theatre, you get it mailed to your house February 5th. If you order it online, you get it February 26th.

Not sure how true this is or if anyone knows if this is correct, but I thought I'd share for those of you who are as eager as I am for the cast recording.

Probably true.

I tried to pre-order it when I was in Denver but was told they couldn't do international orders. I'll have to import it once it gets released.

I'm getting so excited to see this!!! I have 3 more days!!!

Watching the preview doesn't help, lol. I have one concern though, and that is sebastian. I don't think I like the guy's voice all that much. In the preview it seemed like he went off-beat a lot and didn't keep up with what was going on around him well. Maybe it'll be better for me seeing it live, but he was the person I leasst enjoyed in that video preview for sure.

And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true

Alright so i just got back today from my trip to NYC and The Little Mermaid is amazing!!!!!!! I'm not exagerating at all because it's disney or anything. Out of the 4 shows I saw over the past 2 days (Curtains, The Little Mermaid, Mama Mia!, and Wicked) TLM was by far the best. Sierra is perfect as Ariel and I got to meet her after the performance also! She is a incredibly sweet girl. We talked for a moment about Millikin and how she went there/I go there, she gave me a hug, we took a picture, and she signed my playbill! Omg, I almost died!

Some other things I noticed about seeing it live... Sebastian is soooooooooo much better live than in that preview. The set is simply amazing and is practically a player all in itself. Although I don't know how I feel about Sherie Renee Scott as Ursula, she has an amazing voice and a fantastic stage presence. sigh, i really loved this show!

On a side note. I noticed while watching Mama Mia! that one of the leads (Sophie, played by Carey Anderson) is also from Millikin, so I got to meet her as well and everything!

Judging from the preview, it looks good but I was rather disappointed with Sebastien and Ursula, the actress playing her just sounds a bit off to me, not enough emotions it's almost monotonous (sp?) to me she didn't impress me much. Same goes for Sebastien, he sounds like he's trying to put too much empthasis on the Jamaca accent, also it sounded like he was a bit out of breath at times during the Kiss the Girl part of the preview...might just be me though not hearing him well enough.

That video seriously disappointed me. Most of the time the stuff I have seen about this show, I am not impressed. It feels more like a glorified, over the top stage show from the theme park or the cruise ship. The music isn't bad certainly. Especially the Triton/Ariel/Eric part, that was beautiful. But the costumes, the set design, isn't really giving me the right feel. A lot of the costumes are just bad. The eels, dancers, Ursula, I'm just not liking it. I saw Beauty and the Beast and Lion King and from the first pictures to seeing them live, I fell in love with those Broadway shows. But TLM is just truly disappointing me. It looks tacky. But that's just my opinion. I can't help it if I don't agree with the masses here.

Siren, I concur with you, but then I've been shaking my head since this project was started.

For anyone who wants a laugh (or possibly a larf, if that's your thing), here's Broadway Abridged: The Little Mermaid. It's quite funny, as the Broadway Abridged series generally is.

XDDD:
SIERRA BOGGESS
Oh. I thought you were a homeless kid.
.
SOMETHING THAT LOOKS
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE
A SEAGULL
Hello, Ariel! Hello, Spongebob Squarepants!

LITTLE KID IN A YELLOW SHIRT
I am Flounder.

SOMETHING THAT LOOKS
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE
A SEAGULL
I bet you are!
GAY GUY FROM ALTAR BOYZ
We can help you, Ariel!

BLACK GUY FROM SPELLING BEE
Yesss, we can help you!

SIERRA BOGGESS
Why can two gay eels help me?
ARIEL
So you're representing a squid, but easily walking around on
dry land now.

GAY GUY FROM ALTAR BOYZ AND
BLACK GUY FROM SPELLING BEE
SO ARE WE, SOMEHOW!
SHERIE RENE SCOTT
Now, at last, I have you in my grasp Ariel! Ah ha ha ha!
(pause, to audience)
O YEA BTW THIS IS MY SHELL IF YOU DESTROY IT I DIE N STUF K?

PRINCE ERIC
Not so fast!

Prince Eric appears from above in his
ship...

And tries... drowning it underwater..
And crashing it into Ursula's
underwater lair?

SHERIE RENE SCOTT
Oh no I'm mildly distracted... Wait how did you get your ship
to plunge so many feet below sea level? Does it turn into a
submarine?

PRINCE ERIC
No.

SHERIE RENE SCOTT
Can you breathe underwater?

PRINCE ERIC
No.

ARIEL
While you were mildly distracted, I got your shell!
And now I'm throwing it to the ground!
(throws to ground)

SHERIE RENE SCOTT
AND NOW I'M DYING!
(pauses)
Wow, you'd think that if I could die that way, I'd be a bit
more careful about just leaving my shell around.
(dies)
PRINCE ERIC
(voice practically cracking)
Oh that girl, with the red hair and the voice and the
clamshell bra... how I long for her clamshell bra!
.
HEY LITTLE GIRLS
I GOT THIS PART
AND YOU DID NOT

I AM LIKE YOU
WHEN I WAS TWELVE
I WANTED TO BE ARIEL
NOW I *AM* HER
YOU ARE *NOT* HER
THAT'S WHY YOU'RE SAD!

SIERRA BOGGESS
UP WHERE THEY SING
UP WHERE THEY ACT
I'M NOT QUITE AS GOOD AS ALL THAT
I'M JUST OKAY
YOU HAVE NO CHOICE
I'M PART OF YOUR WORLD
SCENE: A WASTE OF TEN MINUTES THAT NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED
IF HOWARD ASHMAN WAS STILL ALIVE.

ARIEL'S SISTERS
(singing)
SHE'S IN LOVE
SHE'S IN LOVE
SHE'S IN LOVE
SHE'S IN LOVE
SHE'S IN LOVE WITH A WONDERFUL GUY!

SIERRA BOGGESS
(smiling, to audience)
See? Disney is concerned with role-models; they've cast some
of my sisters as NOT overly-thin girls. In fact, one of them
is downright big-boned!

AUDIENCE
Oh? Well how much do you weigh?

SIERRA BOGGESS
(small voice)
...sixty three pounds...

NORM LEWIS
ARIEL! You are far too skinny to go up to the surface alone!
Also something something something your mother's voice. The
human world is a dangerous place, where the sets are slightly
better and the costuming doesn't force you to guess!
.
XDDD i"m laughing really hard, everyone are asking me what's so funny XD.

All I have to say is give it a chance. I'm kind of shocked about all the negativity really. I mean it's not a perfect show, no show is perfect, but you just have to see it for yourself. The video preview is horrid compared to the actual show.

I do have to say that there were some things that I didn't like about the show like Ursula. I thought the character was made more into a Morgana from TLMII, which isn't what I wanted but it worked. On that note, TLM on stage is not the same as the original movie. They've made some adjustments to the story line, which for me gave some people (Eric) a better character.

I think it's too easy to be negative about things, and a lot of people on this board proove that all too well.

XD Oh, that thing was funny!

So, um... does she or doesn't she? Ursula, that is... singing the song just like the movie, that is. From what I can hear, she doesn't take the role in the way I would have liked. I don't want clone of the movie, but there are certain bits of the character I expect to be in there. I'm guessing, from that hilarity, that she both takes the character the wrong way in an attempt to own the role while also not owning the role at all. I'm confused.

Hm, I kind of wish Wasting Away was still there. I was watching the movie a little back and I pointed out the little musical bits from the soundtrack that became Wasting Away.

I just can't help but wonder what was the original concept of the show.

"Wasting Away" is just as good as "I Want The Good Times Back." I wonder why they changed it? Also, "Beyond My Wildest Dreams" was going to be a solo for Ariel, and now it isn't. The "Poor Unfortunate Souls" Reprise on the demo showed that Ursula was going to change to Vanessa, but that idea was scraped. "If Only" was going to be a duet between Eric and Ariel, and now it's a quartet with Sebastian and Triton added to the mix. I wanted so bad to know why Ariel had fainted (based on the demo). I would also give anything to know where "All Good Things Must End" was going to be placed. I still think it was Ursula's song, but some say it's Vanessa's. Also, based on the second reprise of "If Only," Ariel was not going to get her voice till the end of the show.

Then, extra songs that weren't on the original demo were released, and the original "The World Above" had lyrics that suggested Ariel had just discovered the human world for the first time when the story unfolded. Also, Triton and Sebastian had a duet called "That Oughtta Show Her," but the song was later scraped, and it had a good beat too.
