Thanks so much for the screencaps. I've never seen that one before. I guess they should put it on either YouTube or DailyMotion. I know it's a region 3 DVD, not a region 1 version. I know it's not the opening logo, it's a promo. I guess they should stick the 2001 Walt Disney Home Entertainment logo alone.

The whole purpose of a logo is to be simple, but unique and easily identified. The old Buena Vista castle was so much better for this purpose (and it could easily be modified - as indeed it was at the start of many films - and still remain easily identified).
I know you didn't like the new logo, the new logo is emotional, but it's pretty good, but they added fireworks to the mix. I love fireworks so much in real life, and so does the new opening logo. I like different versions of the Walt Disney Pictures logo, but the new one is much better for its time.

This past weekend, WPIX-TV (channel 11), a CW affiliate in New York City (for those of you are not in the NYC area) aired a Disney film "George of the Jungle", but it does have the original Walt Disney Pictures opening logo shown.

Was it really necessary to quote all those screencaps?

And it's on the R1 version as well.

I know that, the Region 1 DVD has the same promo as with the region 3 DVD. I just edit my post to remove the screencaps from its quotes.

That whole "Available on DVD and Blu-ray" thing is more than a little fishy to me... especially as the titles listed aren't even avaialble on just DVD at the moment. Isn't Nightmare Before Christmas OOP? It won't be back in print until near Halloween at least. 101 Dalmatians isn't out until March, and then there's no Blu-ray release scheduled. Disney have been pretty vocal about Sleeping Beauty coming in October 08, but nothing before then.

What's even more suspicious is you can't even pause the promo on Blu-ray. So they apparently don't want people analysing the titles that closely.

So I would take it as a statement of intent rather than fact.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I liked seeing the screencaps- thanks, akhenaten!

So, I noticed that the live-action "101 Dalmatians" was shown on that preview/ad. One word- YAY!!!!! I hope that both that and "102 Dalmatians" are rereleased when the "101 Dalmatians" Platinum Edition comes out. I really, really, really, really hope that they are...I really like those films.

I can see Disney pulling a "Cars" on "The Little Mermaid"- have the Blu-ray come out a little while after the DVD...if it comes out before the PE of TLM is in the Vault...or else they'd have to wait 5-10 years to put TLM on Blu-ray.

It's also interesting that "101 Dalmatians" is shown in the list- are they also referring to the animated version? If so, when will that Blu-ray come out, since the March PE will supposedly only be on DVD?

Looking at the list (on the screencap), I'm noticing that all of the live-action titles are recent movies...not that I buy Blu-ray movies yet, but I wonder when the older live-action films will go on Blu-ray.

Here is a promo for Disney Blu-Ray disc that akhenaten was posted according to the screencaps. It would be on both region 1 and region 3 versions of the DVD.

It is the Prince of thieves soundtrack. they have used it several times before on trailers and adverts. can't they come up with something original for once?

Yes! That music came from the movie "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves", and it was not a Disney movie, it was a WB movie. They later used the music for the Morgan Creek logo as its theme. Here is what it sounded similar.

I guess both the Morgan Creek logo music and the music from "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" does the same when it is now currently used for the promo for Disney's DVD/Blu-Ray titles.

No, that honor truly goes to Chicken Little. Terrible film.

Lawl. :D

I actually like that little promo, save the glamourous shots of CL (horrible!), Glory Road, Invincible and The Shaggy Dog (decent to really good films, but they're only there because they're recent). I even love the inclusion of the Prince of Thieves music. I had never noticed it being used in front of a Disney ad before.

Cheers,

You're both wrong. The worst and most insignificant film in the Disney canon is The Boatniks.

I do love the old Buena vista castle, but I am warming up to the new logo-
Enchanted incorporated it in fantastically (I got goosebumps when the camera panned over the walt disney logo and into the castle! I think perhaps, for a completely traditionally animated film, they should go for a different logo (but hey, it doesn't really matter)[/i]

I popped in the "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" DVD, I've seen just the promo for all of the Disney titles available on both DVD and Blu-Ray, but sadly, this DVD does not have the 2001 Walt Disney Home Entertainment logo. This was the same promo that wtanoto posted on YouTube.

The music for this promo as I mentioned was taken from "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and the famous Morgan Creek logo. It has clips from various Disney films put together to create a castle and it says "Disney" in river. Excellent promo, I wish they should put these on all Disney DVD and Blu-Ray titles for future use, no more 2001 WDHE logo. :(
