I arrange all the animated ones in alphabetical order...I haven't separated out Pixar ones or direct to video ones. That gets too confusing to me! I know where to find each one so it works for me. I do keep the sequels and stuff right next to the original too...(obviously like Lion King and Lion King 1 1/2 duh! haha) but like Lilo and Stitch and Stitch...even though not really a sequel, but you know what i mean.

Mine are organized like this:

all the animated movies together in chronological order

classic (Walt-era) live-action together in chronological order

current (after-Walt) live-action together in chronological order

... And the Anchor Bay releases of Disney movies are kept separate.. can't mix them in with the rest 'cause I want the spines to match. :P

I have a special Disney-shelf (well.. the Disneys share it with some other animation-dvd's anyway) with only the classics and all the dvd's on it are ordered in a chronological order. I have read a lot about the production of most of these films and have lived long enough to see all the films from 1980 on appear in the cinema, so it is much more 'recognisable' for me to see them ordered chronologicaly.

Btw: my other dvd's are organised by director (when I have more than 2 movies of a certain director), genre (drama, SF, horror, comedy, animation, music, world movies, documentaries) and within a genre on year of release.

Mine goes Walt: Man Behind the Myth first, then the Treasures then each Disney movie in order of release in theaters or on video/DVD in the case of the sequels. Not easy believe me finding out a lot of the dates. Oh and in the case of things like the box sets, ie. Fantasia Anthology or Ultimate Toy Box, it goes in the slot of the original release.

It's really a lot of fun to do actually. And if you ever want real fun, try watching things in chronological order. It's AMAZING to see things progress for Steamboat Willie to Snow White and beyond.

I have this great display for my Disney DVD:

Image

The two first rows are the Disney Classics. I have all of them, but the two Fantasia movies are at a friend of mine :)

Then there are my stock sertificate, and the next two are live action movies.

Then I have some other animation movies from other studios, and at the bottom I guess everybody can see the 7 Limited Tin boxes.
(I have two of one of the tins)

I have lots of other movies but they are in another and much bigger shelf.

I arrange all of my DVD's together in alphabetical order. I got the shelf at Bestbuy.com so I'd have a lot of room to expand my collecition. I cover up the empty shelves with the slip covers or boxes some of the dvd's come in.

I'm new, so I'll start by saying Hi. My DVD's are in alphabetical order, but my disney dvd's are seperated and in alphabetical order, for the most part. The exception are sequels, they are next to the originals, like Stitch The Movie is next to Lilo and Stitch.
