Your Favourite of the 'Fab 4'?

Post by Beast_enchantment »

Which Disney movie of the renowned 'Fab 4' is your favourite?
Mine would have to Beauty and the Beast! It truly is the ultimate Disney movie for me - it has romance, comedy, drama, action, adventure.
It is beautifully drawn and has a fantastic score, featuring memorable songs like "Be our Guest" and "Beauty and the beast". It also features one of the most memorable Disney moments on film - the Ballroom sequence truly is captivating and so symbolic to the story. The prgression of Belle's love for the Beast makes you laugh, makes you cry and ultimately conjours up that Disney magic that the company has seemed to forgotten lately.
Not to mention, Beauty and the Beast is the only Disney film, so far to recieve a Best Picture Academy Award nomination!
Finally, it is the only Disney film i can think of that teaches the importance of inner beauty and that love isn't merely based on physical attraction, which is why it is my most favourite of the 'Fab 4' and most favourite of any Disney movie! :D

Just because this is going to turn out to be a war between The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast I did my duty and voted for everyone's favourite mermaid. Otherwise maybe I would choose Aladdin, but because my no.1 Disney favourite is actually... both Aladdin and The Little Mermaid (:D ) that's why I don't feel I betrayed my good ol' pal, Al. I really love those two movies the same.

My favorite, and the one I picked, is The Little Mermaid. That's because Ursula is my favorite villain of those 4 movies. And I adore that "Poor Unfortunate Souls" scene. It is so devilish, dark, and actually sort of crosses into horror movie territory - in terms of style, that is. Because old horror movies were operatic. And on that level, the 'PUS' scene has the true dark, fantastic, and dramatic elements of old operatic horror movies. It's a real fishy monster-movie scene, with the 1980's flamboyant use of lit-up color + the theme of old spooky movies about selling your soul to the devil. And The Devil was a monster in old horror movies, as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, I did that to prove how the power of 1 scene will always make a movie legendary to those who see it and love it.

If we're going with which of those 4 movies is the best, I'd go with Aladdin.

I guess I was wrong! The mermaid isn't threatened by a Beast, but by a lion!

I say Aladdin as my absolute favorite, but all 4 are probably my 4 favorite Disney movies :D
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

I do not want to vote! I think it's weird that these 4 movies in particular should be singled out as the best of the Disney renaisance, as if everything that came after it was less worthy!
"Fab four" sounds nice because it reminds one of the Beatles, but I think it has become a cliche.
" Aladdin' is a fun movie with good songs, but a bit overrated IMO.

personally i would have included Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame but i knew alot of people would complain that they werent officially part of the Disney Renaissance period. even though i love the two movies named and conisder them my favourites (apart from beauty and the Beast :D ) i decided just to use the infamous "fab four" title as most people recognise this and it would prevent many arguments!

thanks for sticking up for them, though :) x

I voted for "Aladdin", seeing as how it's my 2nd favorite Disney film. I can't even tell you how often I would rewind and replay the "A Whole New World" scene...if I had to choose a favorite scene in a Disney film, that'd probably be it.

"The Little Mermaid" is my third favorite Disney film, though...and I really like "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King"...but I didn't vote for them. :P
