In the past few years a lot of DAC's have been re-released as Special Editions/Platium Editions with two disks. Here in holland we've had:
-Aladdin
-The Lion King
-Bambi
-Cinderella
- Tarzan
- Beauty and the Beast
-The Little Mermaid
- Mulan
- Lady and the Tramp
- Jungle Book
- Peter Pan
( I may have forgotten a title)
Strangely enough, while there was a double disk SE of 'Pocahontas'out in USA and the UK, all the Dutch market offers so far is a single disk edition. And now I also found out that 'Lilo and Stich' has a 2-disk edition, though when I bought it only a single disk version was available.
Pixar's "The incredibles" on it's first DVD release was a double disk SE with loads of extra's, but now 'Ratatouille' is out it's one disk again and the bonus features are very meagre. (But I believe this is also the case with the US- edition?)
I also know there once was a PE of Snow White available, but I couldn't lay my hands on it. Was it ever available in Holland? I did find a single-disk edition.
I do not understand this arbitrary policy of releasing a double disk edition of the same movie in one country and only a single disk edition in another.
Have you got a clue?
Question about 2 disk vs. 1 disk editions DVD's

It doesn't make any sense. Why should we in the Netherlands get The Lion King in DTS, while the US doesn't? The same goes for Finding Nemo. I guess it's we sometimes get lucky enough that we get the good versions from the UK (this would explain the 2-disc Lilo & Stitch), and sometimes we don't. But it's Buena Vista Entertaiment in America that decides everything (according to their Dutch department) down to the different dubs on the discs, and the height of the subtitles (not kidding).
Ratatouille actually has a 2-disc coming out in the UK, Germany and France. It has the following features on the second disc:
* Building Paris Featurette
* Character Profiles
* Behind the Scenes Progression Reel
* Deleted Scenes
* Remy's Incredible But Edible
* Ratatouille Trailers/TV Spots
From the titles, I guess it's still not as much as The Incredibles had on their second disc, but it's more than on the other versions.
Snow White was only released in The Netherlands in a 1-disc version, with a couple of features ported over from the 2-disc. For a comparison between the different versions, look here.
Hope this clarifies things a bit.
