It seems that wherever veu comes from, they have a low tolerence for that kind of thing. Which I find sad. Art and freedom of speech should govern movies, and like I said, artistically, real animals acting like real animals, however groos or awful it is, helps illustrate the difference between the fantasy where no one does anything gross and the reality we like to turn our faces away from. Of course, Kevin Lima should have made New York a little more realistic in other ways, too, but it probably wouldn't be appropriate for kids. Kids know about bathroom stuff, but not so much the other real, adult stuff.

Saw it last again last night. I think the two week wait between the previews and seeingit for a third time now its opened has only made this film even better.

I went with my girlfriend (again) and another friend who isn't really into Disney movies all that much and he walked out loving it and saying he was going to buy the soundtrack!

Does anyone else think the that in the opening when Giselle is sat in the window with Pip on her knee (just before the troll arrives) is a tribute to the early pictures of Rapunzel which showed her sat in a similar position with an squirrel on her knee?

I think last night was the first time I really appreciated the film's score having listened to the CD more. I love the way when Robert is saying goodbye to her in central park and again when she leaves with Edward there is a slow instrumental of "So Close" playing.

I saw the film today with my other half and our daughter and I'd just like to say I loved it.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come from Disney.

I finally got to see this film today. Unfortunately there was only about ten people in the audience and I think my wife and I are the only ones who laughed through most of the film. It was pure genius! I loved it and can't wait for the Blu-Ray disc!!

I just got back from my second viewing, and I absolutely loved this movie! This is probably my favorite live action Disney movie ever (and that is saying something). I was smiling and laughing the entire time. I never even looked at my phone for the time and was sad it was over (which almost never happens). Now I NEED the DVD! 2-Disc True Love's Kiss Edition!!! J/K!

I can't begin to read what is now a 60-page thread and I don't want to repeat what others have probably already said and I can't add to any lists of other Disney movie references since I have not seen as many as the rest of you, but this comment by Mutant sums it up nicely for me.

I just saw the movie (finally!); I was laughing and I was crying. The soundtrack still playing in my head- I will definitely pick up this soundtrack. It has to be my favorite next to Snow White. This movie really has HEART. The opening with the storybook was magnificent. This movie has everything, comedy, drama, its a musical; has an excellent story-line, top-notch acting performances. I hope it wins or is nominated - it would be well-deserved.
Actress playing Gizelle was amazing. I have to agree it is probably the best live action Disney movie I've seen since (well in my case, Mary Poppins). I think this could build into another princess franchise for them if the box office totals are strong enough.

It is unusual for Disney to have an employee screening a couple weeks into the release of a movie, but that is what they did. This tells me that the success was unexpected and that they are very happy with what they are seeing/hearing.

OK, carry on. I will go back and read some of the last few pages of critiques by all of you and then look for the box office totals.

Flanger-Hanger - where did you get your totals at? the website I was at said the film only made $83 million (I am assuming that is domestic take too).

I don't know if this is good or bad, but the fact that it hasn't been yanked out of my theater after several weeks, is a good sign. I guess we would have to know what they expected it to make vs. what it is making. I hope this film has legs! I certainly will do everything I can to encourage everyone I know to see it. Im just ecstatic about this film!

I agree with both of you guys! I loved the movie so so much I didn't want it to end. I want to see it again. This was the best Disney movie in a long time. The performances and music was wonderful. I too would like a 2 disc DVD packed with extras. I wanted to buy the soundtrack and even a poster of Giselle! And I'm 19 years old! I can't wait for the DVD.

I hope Disney is satisfied with the box office. Does anyone know what the budget for this movie was.

I saw this with the parents last night. It gets 3 out of 5 stars from me.

Like a couple of other posters, I found the two bathroom humor gags very distasteful and out of place in a charming fairy tale like this. The animated prologue was way too cheesy. I know that it was supposed to be, but they exaggerated it far beyond what any other Disney animated film has done. I was also not a big fan of the villain, Prince Edward, or the climax on the skyscraper.

What did work was the core romance between Giselle and Robert. Everything related to that story was joyful and/or funny. Nathaniel makes an excellent comic antagonist. My favorite scene was "That's How You Know" in the park. If that was available separately, then I would buy it.

Overall, I like the movie, but I don't want to buy it on DVD.

I was reading my favorite authors, Meg Cabot, blog and even she had something to say about the chipmunk poop scene in the film.

"And another thing. I don’t want to say anything bad about a movie that is currently in theaters, but I went to see Enchanted (don’t worry, I loved it, except the pooping chipmunk. I loved the chipmunk, but why did they have to make it poop? I do not want to see a pooping chipmunk, EVER—which is why I will not be seeing Alvin And The Chipmunks. Wasn't tortured? That scene had a deliberate reference to crucifixion. That is what I would call torture.
