Are There Tropical Beaches in Canada?

Post by Lazario »

And if anyone here lives in Canada or has been there, have you ever... been to one?

Consulting a world map would confirm that no part of Canada comes close to lying between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.

I live in the southern most, warmest point in Canada. It is currently 37 degrees farenheit.

We do have very good relations with Bermuda and once tried to take over the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Might seem like a stupid question at first but you have to look at it from a different perspective.
Do we have tropical islands here now? No.
Did we have tropical islands here sometime in the past? Yes, in prehistoric times, when dinosaurs were out and about.

"Are There Tropical Islands in Canada?" may be the dumbest question that has ever been asked. No offense Laz, but it just is.

Hmm, never thought about it before, but I don't think there are any tropical islands in Canada. They'd have to be in a warm climate.

In fact the only part of the US in the tropics is Hawaii, Florida does come darn close though. The tropic of Cancer is at 23 degrees, Canada 48 degrees.

Mr. Toad loves geography. Any more questions?

Ouch. We just got over like a week of temperatures like that. It's currently -19 here with a -25 wind chill. Well I suppose that's not much better eh?

We have Wetlands, Temperate Grasslands, Taiga and Tundra's, Mountains and Polar Regions but nothing Tropical. I live just up the island from Mr. Toad so it's generally the same up my way, it doesn't feel very tropical here since it's raining and cold....and windy :P

In university history asked why they made Henry the Ape King of England. That is stupider than the tropical question although certainly not as bad as the parade question.

A classic Scapsta. Did you read the Mouse Planet article that was all about that question? You probably have, what with being Scapsta and all.

As for the tropical island, don't tell anyone but there's one right behind my house. It's fun, but boy are those spiders big.

I guess it is. But I actually didn't know. Now that I think of it, I didn't actually mean to say- islands. How about beaches? (Toad, beaches? Of any kind?)

Some beaches on the west coast. The ones around Vancouver are protected and good for swimming. The ones on the the west coast of Vancouver Island feature some of the world's best surfing but are very cold. Really don't know about the east coast. Although given the Atlantic is way colder than the Pacific they may not be useable much of the year.

I've read the article before, and it really gave me a different perspective on my answer. Before, I'd simply say "Same time it was a year ago" and give a sort of snarky grin. After reading the article, I took the time to actually talk to the guests about it, and we'd always have a laugh about how 3 o'clock really isn't 3 o'clock. Then sometimes, that same guest would somehow find me at night to ask for a good spot to watch the fireworks, or whether or not to skip Spectro. Warms my heart to know they wanted to come to me for an answer. :D

(The next time I go to Disney, which may not be for awhile, I'll test some young castmembers and ask the question, then record their responses and offer my findings...)

There are a few beaches in the Toronto area as well. But the biggest selection of beaches in Ontario is about 90 minutes north of Toronto in the Georgian Bay area (where I live). My house is right on the beach and I have an incredible view of the Bay year round. It's a pretty big tourist area come summer, especially around Canada Day in July.

Here's the official website of the city that I live in:
