Tin Man - SciFi Channel Miniseries Discussion
So who watched the first episode here? What did you think?
Though its not a mind-blowing episode by any means, its still fun to watch. Seeing a different take on it. And the twists so far. Such as DG's lineage. I will talk more about it later, going to watch episode 2 now

I like the fact Tin Man is a metaphor. He gets tortured for months or years watching his family get beaten. He's cold, hard, bitter, and heart broken.
Glitch is great. And I so hope to see more of Cain and Glitch together. The straight/funny guy routine is great with them. Loved how Glitch told Cain about his masculinity being to high (or something like that). And I see Alan Cummings used his training as Nightcrawler for the fighting scenes. With what he was wearing, he looked very much like Kurt from the back.
Raw hasn't really had a lot of screen time yet. I hope to see more about his past as well.
Toto/Tutor...not too keen. That is one character that is just too much. When I heard Toto was a shapeshifter, I expected a dog that could turn into some other creature(s), not a human teacher. He is cute as a dog though. Thinking Yorkie/Chih mix.
Azkadela (sp?) is fantastic. Love her flying Mon-bats. And finding out where she went wrong, so sad. I love tragic villains.
DG is good, but not as colorful, which is kinda the point. Right now, we're pretty much just following her memories.

I liked Az a lot too, but she didn't really go "wrong," it was all D.G.'s fault, ha.
I would have preferred Toto as a dog all the time. Nothing against the actor though, and it was an interesting bit with wondering whether he was good or bad. But, one likes to see Toto as the cute animal sidekick and reliably good, like a Disney animal sidekick. Could have been a nice source of the familiar throughout the story. Yeah, he looks like a Yorkie mix. The original was a Cairn. They should have just gone with a Cairn, but this one was cute.
If you haven't seen part 3, I think you'll be very happy with it. Raw gets more screentime and we get more Cain/Glitch stuff too. I agree about D.G. and sometimes she was a little too dopey, but I adore Zooey so I'm cool with it. I liked it more and more with each installment, and the third was great. I was amazed at how small Richard Dreyfuss's role was. I was always expecting him to come back, especially when they were searching for a specific character in part 3. The Mo-Bats were cool, but all the CGI could have been a tad better. Hope this one gets a DVD release.
SPOILER
My little sister originally expected this to be something of a sequel to the original. I never thought that, and amazingly, it turned out it sorta was. Though, there are inconsistencies. Apparently, the lead character was a descendant of Dorothy Gale, but to me this only brought up a ton of questions that remained unanswered, and that is probably my biggest complaint, though I generally really enjoyed the whole thing.

I thought it was "meh" overall.
When I first heard about this movie, I thought it would be very futuristic or something. Like The OZ was a quadrant of space or something, and it would involve starships and whatnot.
So It wasn't what I expected. But the whole thing was filled with cliches. The ending was really anticlimactic in my opinion and kind of stupid considering the supposed dark overtone of the miniseries.
It could have been sooooo much better. I can't say I've wasted six hours of my life, but I was disappointed overall.

I need to watch it again, especially the third ep., but I got the impression that Dorothy was the ancestor on the mother's side, not Ahamo's.
I knew before hand that it was more of an other dimension than a space thing, and I'm really glad it was that way. More true to Oz that way, in my opinion. And yet, I still felt this film was closer to what I hoped the new "Flash Gordon" series would be like, ha. I lost interest after the first episode of that one.

I just finished watching it and absolutely lovd it. It was such a new take on the classic and very different. The way the plot and past story evolved was amazing and the dialogue was very good too.
It was kinda like a Indiana Jones meets Star Wars meets OZ.
The ending was lovely and all, alhtough kinda corny, but I like corny
Does anybody know if it's gonna be released to DVD?

I cant wait for this on DVD!! I was only able to catch the first episode, but I totally loved it. Especially since I've been on my Oz binge lately thanks to Wicked! lol

"Hip hop frightens you, doesn't it....Hmmm...Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate. Hate leads to endlessly posting threads about stupid white people. Hmmmmm....."
I love Siren!
