"A Disney Christmas Gift"

Post by musicradio77 »

Does anybody remembers a TV special called "A Disney Christmas Gift"? It was a TV special as it was shown on "Walt Disney" back in 1982 where it features clips from Disney animated films and shorts. I want you to enjoy this one in 5 parts.

Disney needs to release this and Disney's Halloween Treat and A Disney Halloween on DVD. These specials are really a treat for anyone who watches them.

Oh yes, they need to!
I remember there was Valentine type one too that had Bambi, Thumber, and Flowering being twitterpated, Daisy trying to get Donald interested in her (she laid on the sidewalk in his path and other stuff), a gentleman hat being in love with a lady hat, and a teenage couple ice-skating (the girl gets in a tiff because the boy thought her poor skating was funny).

EDIT:
Ohhh, cool! Someone had uploaded the Disney Valentine special on YouTube. <3

I don't think there was a Valentine Disney special but I could be wrong.

I do remember a Disney Valentine Special. I know one was DTV Doggone Valentine with all the music videos and I think there may have been another.

Maybe there was, I've only seen Disney's Halloween Treat. A Disney Christmas Gift didn't air on The Disney Channel in the early 90's. If it did I missed it, but I doubt since I was watching Disney, Nick, and CartoonNetwork from 91-97.

On the fourth link, there was an excerpt from "Cinderella", but this was the original stock version, but I wish they should restore the DVD footage from "Cinderella" on that special.

My prediction is that Disney needs to restore all of the DVD footage from several films to put "A Disney Christmas Gift" as a DVD with scenes from the films as well as shorts being restored along with footage from the 1982 special. That would be a great idea.

I have the whole special, but the audio and video quality was not all that great especially the end credits was cut off. It was from my uncle's VHS collection with all of the special taped off of TV years ago.

I am probably a few years older than you. I saw those specials first in the 1980s. Doggone Valentine deffinetly exists. I've seen it available on VHS on Ebay.

I don't remember Sword in the Stone in this. I know there was A Disney Channel Christmas and Disney's Christmas Gift but are there 2 versions of Christmas Gift? I remember Jimminey Cricket hosted one and another was cut together between shots of Christmas decorations.

And for those of us with dial up, just where does the Sword in the Stone clip start and where does it end? Someday I might just recreate this for myself with DVD footage.

A Disney Christmas Gift and A Disney Channel Christmas? Are they just like Disney's Halloween Treat and A Disney Halloween? Both Halloween specials had almost the same features in them, except for a few minior changes, for example, The Pumpkin Host, and Magic Mirror.

One of them took footage from the 50's "From All of Us to All of You" and used it to hook together shorts and animated feature footage. They also included the Fezziwig sequence from the then new Mickey's Christmas Carol. The other had clips of Christmas decorations with the Disney Channel singers singing songs. I think some Jimminy Cricket was in it also. I don't remember either having Sword in the Stone in it so I wonder if this was the version they put the Mickey's Christmas Carol footage over? I remember that one ends with all the characters coming out when Jimminey sings When You Wish Upon a Star. I'd love to see that sequence again.

I'm tellin' ya, Disney should just do a DVD with From All of Us to all of You, all the Christmas/winter time shorts, The Snall One, Mickey's Christmas Carol, and if it were a Tresures type release, the two Christmas shows. Add in a featurette about Disney and Christmas and you'd have a great Disney Christmas DVD set they could bring out every year like all the other Disney DVDs. They need to do this and allow for a complete Jim Henson Christmas DVD set to be made too. They made HIT cut Kermit out of Emmett Otter and this is probably why Christmas Toy hasn't been released yet. I bet this is why we won't see Muppet Family Christmas on DVD ever either. Disney could actually afford to put it out uncut too. It's a shame...

If Disney was to release it's Holiday specials, that would make my day. Especially the Halloween specials. :)

That was "A Disney Channel Christmas" from 1983. It has clips from an old Disney TV show called "Walt Disney Presents" in an episode called "From All of Us to All of You" from 1958. It was originally in black & white, but it was reshown in color from the 1960's as a rerun episode from "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color". They have footage of Christmas decorations from that 1982 special "A Disney Christmas Gift" added to the entire special. That special was produced by the Disney Channel for many years. The Jiminy Cricket narration was godawful, so they put clips from that TV show and ends with "When You Wish Upon a Star" from "Pinocchio" with some characters on it including Pluto, Alice (from "Alice in Wonderland") and a few others. After he finshed singing, Jiminy says his final words "From all of us, to all of you, Merry Christmas!" and closed the Christmas card and then a scene from the fireplace and then Tinkerbell waved her wand and turned into a bright star as the last chorus of that song from the ending of "Pinocchio" was played during the finale. That special that I remember these days since I was a kid, but I do missed that. I have it taped right off of Disney Channel years ago and it's in excellent quality.

You must be mistaken. I just searched there and it's not listed, even as sold out.
