The Martins and the Coys: Deleted Short from Make Mine Music

This was added to YouTube on October 14th. There is actually quite a bit of Disney stuff on YouTube. I don't know when the jerks at Disney's legal department will eventually bite them for it and have those videos removed... But in the meantime, someone should enjoy them since vid's like this deleted short from the Make Mine Music DVD were decided by the idiot company are not appropriate for the DVD.
I hope it's complete. It's the 7:13 version. So...

Although I personally don't think it's so bad, here are some reasons it may have been cut...
1.) The whole moonshine thing
2.) The two families kill each other with their guns (And it's taken lightly)
3.) The marital abuse is funny thing
4.) Hillbillie stereotypes
That's more reason to take it out that with Song of the South. lol

I remember that short when it was on the Disney Channel many years ago when "Vault Disney" ran a lost 1946 animated classic "Make Mine Music" in its entirety. I have a copy on my DVD-R, because it was originally recorded off VHS and the audio was not that good. The movie "Make Mine Music" taped off of Disney Channel has "The Martin and the Coys" intact.

For those purists, the company that is advertising "Song of the South" DVD, unedited, 2-disc edition, across the top of UD front page, includes this short complete and in a great digital mastering process. I reluctantly bought the DVD, but after asking Luke about it and he said they don't have any control over the advertising, I thought I would get it so I would have some ammunition to have them thrown off for false advertising, but NO!!!!!! they have included a prestine copy of "SotS", and on the second disc is seven cartoons, most of them are hard to find Warner Bros. 'toons including "Coal Black and the Sebben Dwarfs", and the Disney "Martin and the Coys". It is definitely worth the money to have this edition in your collection until Disney gets off their collective arses and gives us a 'legitimate' copy.

Well then, let's enjoy it as much as we can before they do. :DDisneyFanatic wrote:I'm sure it will be removed shortly because Disney legal doesn't like to allow people to watch things that are NOT for sale & they CAN'T even buy!!!!! :x

Walt Disney's Song of the South (1946) starred Ruth Warrick, James Baskett (as Uncle Remus), Luana Patten and Bobby Driscoll. It was released several different times over the years, and has never been released on video tape or DVD. There is a great Japanese LaserDisc version that is still available, but a little hard to find nowadays.
The two-disc special edition of 'Song of the South' that is sold here on the UD website, is truly a 'bootleg', but it is a fabulously well-done bootleg. It says 'unedited', but as far as I know it was never edited anyway, so that doesn't mean a thing.
What is really good about it is the fact that the second disc, while not the pristine quality of the first disc which contains the full-length movie and two different trailers for it, is a delight for any collector of old out-of-print cartoons. There is only one Disney 'toon in the seven, that is the short "The Martins and the Coys" that was edited out of Disney's "Make Mine Music", and the infamous Warner Bros. satire of 'Snow White' called "Coal Black and the Sebben Dwarfs". There are some other highlights such as an audio-only interview with Walt Disney about 'Song of the South' and a short on the 'Making of SotS'. The cartoons are broken down into segments - one is called 'Speedy Gonzales and Friends' and this segment has the 'Martins and Coys' and 'de Sebben dwarfs' 'toons in it. The second segment is called "An Officer and a Duck" which features the Donald Duck cartoons from WWII, and the third segments if four wonderful "Ant and the Aardvark" cartoons.
For their asking price, this two-disc set is worth every nickle. Maybe if enough of us order it, Disney will realize that they better put a legitimate release out ASAP.
To answer the other questions, no there is no sequences from "Pecos Bill" or "Fantasia" on this set. Just "Song of the South" and then the extras on the second disc.
Hope this clarifies your questions about "Song of the South". Rather than take up room on this thread you may PM with any questions you may have about this 2-disc Special Edition.
