Which DVDs Are You Going to Buy on 12/4/07?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

I'll be getting Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - 2-Disc Collector's Edition and, eventually, the new volumes of "Touched by an Angel" and "7th Heaven". Will probably also rent Superbad.

As always, check out DVDizzy's guide to the new DVD releases for the week: http://www.dvdizzy.com/dvdschedule2.html#1204

Happy holiday shopping! :santa:

Besides "Pirates 3" and "24-season 7" you didn't list the best movie to come out on DVD for the year's end - "The Nanny Diaries" also comes out on December 4th.

Those are the three I am getting for sure, and there might a couple of other ones that I will pick up at the same time.

I would like to get "Will and Grace" Season 7, but I'm a little low on money, so onto my Christmas list it goes.

I also meant to add "SNL" S2 to my eventual purchases list (I'd edit my post to reflect this, but editing a poll post after votes have been cast is asking for disaster)... I've still got to finish watching S1 first and I'm a long, long way off from that. I want to support the show on DVD but need to make some real progress before I can justify spending even more on it.

Just thought I would add, that I am avoiding "Superbad" like the plague that it is. I don't know anyone who uses language like that and buying this movie is just supporting those people who make movies that use foul language because they think it is cool.

Lack of respect is shown when a person uses this kind of language. It also reflects on their upbringing, and their family lifestyle. We need to stop this blatant use of swearwords just to be using them.

I am not a prude, I can swear with the best of them, but there is a place and a time, and a use for it. This movie is not the time, place, or proper use for it.

That is probably why I don't like Kevin Smith movies as well.

POTC3 and Superbad for me!

By the way, dvdjunkie, it's not so much that anyone uses "foul language" to "sound cool" and if you dont know anyone who uses language like that, stop by any middle or high school. Or hell, just walk out into the street. And just because someone enjoys a movie like Superbad doesnt mean that they necessarily use language like that, just means they can laugh and appreciate a good comedy. And believe it or not, Superbad was one of the best comedies of this year.

And anyone who doesnt like Kevin Smith just doesnt have a sense of humor.

Shut up, DVDjunkie.

SORRY, SORRY. Wrong reply. That's for someone else. :D
Here's my correct reply:

I agree 100%. Except I don't think they made that up. Kids actually talk like that. But it's mostly because of movies that came before this one (take your pick- Kevin Smith flicks are just one source). It's part of a trend of movies who make it their job to invent hordes of new trendy words and terms. Of course, as comedy, it's complete junk. Even That 70's Show is embarassed by crap like this. As long as a bunch of idiot "characters" can run around spouting trendy/hip-speaking one-liners while someone else screams "AWWWWWWWEESSSSOOOMME!!!" right after, these sorts of movies will keep getting made. And mainstream comedy will suffer, eternally, for it.

I agree also. I no longer watch most of today's comedy shows because of the constant use of swearing and profanity. Even the previews of Superbad at the theatre were apsolutely filthy. That kind of humor is not needed in a film to make it "cool" or funny.
