at the end of the trailer it said "for the first time ever on a platinum edition DVD"Ariel'sprince wrote:It's not the 2008 Platinum Edition,it's the 2003 Special Edition, the trailer, the cover art,the features.
you might want to watch it again to make sure, i thought the same thing until the end of the video

Wow, this is such a great trailer. I already own the 2-disc release from 2003, but I am still excited. I will definitely upgrade to the Platinum, if nothing more than for the Platinum banner. Hopefully there will be extra bonus features to merit the upgrade. I can't wait to see what they decide on as the final DVD cover art.

And "7.1 Surround Sound". And "High Definition". And "On Disney Blu-Ray Disc". And "Coming Autumn 2008". Really Ariel's Prince, you need to be more observant.rs_milo_whatever wrote:at the end of the trailer it said "for the first time ever on a platinum edition DVD"Ariel'sprince wrote:It's not the 2008 Platinum Edition,it's the 2003 Special Edition, the trailer, the cover art,the features.

those aren't new voices.thats how it sounds like on HIGH DEFINITION with clarity and more accurate tone. YEAY BLU-RAY! if the comparison pic is anything to go by, expect a warm pallette ala peter pan and jungle book.no more cool forests. global warming has taken its toll on aurora.
do you still wait for me Dream Giver?

That trailer is also the same one featured on the Meet the Robinsons Blu-Ray. I am very, very excited for this release. I have literally watched the trailer at least twenty times.
I think that in the upcoming Blu-Ray of this film we will be taken into Aurora's world, so to say. And the characters from the film will be there throughout our journey, speaking to us in all the bonus features and content throughout the disc. This is why I think we heard newly recorded voices. It's very unlikely that Disney re-dubbed the entire film.
No, every single voice in that trailer is different! It has nothing to do with the Blu-Ray HD sound. The trailer uses all the current actors who currently portray the characters in video games and the theme parks. For example in the film Maleficent NEVER says "on the day she was born I cast a spell upon her..." That was a totally new recorded line. Every character voice that spoke in that trailer was NOT the original. You heard in the trailer Susan Blakeslee portraying Maleficent and Russi Taylor portraying Fauna. Listen closely it is NOT Eleanor Audley.akhenaten wrote:those aren't new voices.thats how it sounds like on HIGH DEFINITION with clarity and more accurate tone. YEAY BLU-RAY!

The cover art on that UK site is the old cover from their old special edition.
BUT the trailer is new!!!! And excellent, except for the new voices...I din't really like that...oh well.
Disney Villain, I think akhenaten was being sarcastic. But it's okay, I really thought he was serious until I saw him talk about the cool forests.
I'm torn. The "restoration" only makes the scenery look greener! And I prefer the cooler, sadder blue of Aurora's peaceful, but boring life, the one she wants to escape from. However, I once read in a review that the green represents Aurora's springy life and innocence. And often, we never actually see what the restoration really looks like, they just do a fake demonstration.

Ditto. I like the blueish hue to the scene as well. Makes it feel more romantic and gives "Once Upon A Dream" a "torch song" quality.Disney Duster wrote:I'm torn. Wow, there's not question that these are not the original voices. Doesn't it sound like Phillip was voiced by Jerry Seinfeld? It kinda shocked me, then made me laugh a lot. I really hope they didn't re-dub the entire film. Did anyone notice that Aurora doesn't say or sing anything througout the entire trailer? That seems very fishy to me...

Redubbing voices for trailers isn't new (it's cheaper than paying residuals to the original voice talent for a few minutes of work done years ago), so why is everyone up in arms over Sleeping Beauty's?

I posted this a page ago but people just don't care to look...in case anyone wants to know what the cover will more likely look like, here's a comparison of two possible ones and the one of the right is most likely because it has new artwork:

I've realized that the cover on the right looks like Snow White's Platinum, with the purple, vacant background and the more vertical way of doing the title. Of course, this has thorns faintly in the purple background, they're just hard to see. And somehow the amount of character images distract from the backgroundlessness, unlike Snow White's or Beauty and the Beast's boy that cover was horrible haha Escapay yes it was it was so boring and barren.
Anyway, the restoration does seem to make it look more like the cels and some particularly green pictures I've seen. And that once again brings up the situation that Disney knew the colors would change in Technicolor, so they painted them one way and then to turn out a different way on film (or something like that). So the cel colors aren't necessarily the ones they wanted to be seen! This is the same issue with Cinderella. Uh-oh. It better not turn out like that.

I think many people forgot that some trailers, like Snow White's theatrical trailer and Cinderella's DVD trailer had re-dubbing. Besides, this is a long trailer with more re-dubbing than I think I've ever heard.Escapay wrote:Redubbing voices for trailers isn't new (it's cheaper than paying residuals to the original voice talent for a few minutes of work done years ago), so why is everyone up in arms over Sleeping Beauty's?

I don't really have a problem with it. But I have to wonder, am I wrong or did Aurora not speak in the trailer? If that's the case, then why not just use the original voices (or just not use any of her lines) as Mary Costa is the only the one they'd need to pay. All the others have passed on, correct?Escapay wrote:Redubbing voices for trailers isn't new (it's cheaper than paying residuals to the original voice talent for a few minutes of work done years ago), so why is everyone up in arms over Sleeping Beauty's?

Yeah, I was really surprised at how much was re-dubbed. It came across as an actual theatrical trailer rather than a promotional DVD trailer.Disney Duster wrote:Besides, this is a long trailer with more re-dubbing than I think I've ever heard.
Can you imagine how weird it'd be if Aurora's dress suddenly looked green, making all of Merryweather's "Make it blue!" sound wrong?Disney Duster wrote:Anyway, the restoration does seem to make it look more like the cels and some particularly green pictures I've seen. Residuals still would likely go to the estates of those who passed on.lord-of-sith wrote:I don't really have a problem with it. Honestly, I liked the re-dubbed voices. It would be interesting (and strictly as a novelty), if Disney included an alternative redubbed soundtrack, even with some changed dialogue. The example that Disney Villain gave (the one with Leffy saying "on the day she was born I cast a spell upon her...") actually matched pretty well to the lip movements. Of course, I must stress again that I would like that as a novelty, and not as a replacement.

It's kind of silly showing a trailer with a comparison at that size, because the only difference i can see is that the new one looks green and bright instead of foggy and blue.
(... I like foggy and blue. Besides, isn't everything supposed to look a little grey for that gothic look? I think every color had a little black mixed into it)

Haha! And I have certianly entertained myself with the thought of Fauna finally choosing the color. It would look good in green, I bet!Escapay wrote:Can you imagine how weird it'd be if Aurora's dress suddenly looked green, making all of Merryweather's "Make it blue!" sound wrong?
I like the voices themselves, but not their delivery. Maleficent just sounded like she was fond of Aurora as she talked about casting a spell on her, and Merrywather sounded too sweet and...yucky.
And purin is right, I, too, heard that black was mixed in with all the colors! However, I actually think the bright green does remind me more of a medieval tapestry's palette. It just does. Though it's brighter, it's still not particularly cheery. Yet, the whole black thing brings up the point again: will they research what this film was supposed to look like? Or just keep thinking "brighter is better" and accidently remove small details in their removal of "dirt"?

No,no,you can buy it on DVD,tooMermaid Kelly wrote:Blu Ray? Ohh man...I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy one...I don't even have an HDTV yet! Plus I don't want to have to buy BOTH a Blu Ray player AND an HDDVD player! (Blu Ray=Disney---HDDVD=Shrek and other stuff) The movie (dvd) market is getting as bad as the video game market!
Speaking of video games-can't wait for a DS game for the PE:D.
