Missing scene in The Jungle Book
When Baloo dresses like an ape by using a wig, a cocoonut and a skirt, we don't see him take this on. Instead he just suddenly appears in his costume. But from what I can remember, it was originally a scene where we see him put this on. So why is this deleted from the present version?
I don't think such a scene ever existed. I certainly don't remember it, and the soundtrack of the entire "I Wanna Be Like You" number is in the film (no extra cues on the soundtrack). Plus, seeing Baloo put on the disguise kills the gag of his entrance. The fact that he bursts in from the door in drag comes as a surprise to the audience. Showing him put all that on before hand destroys the effect.

such a scene does not exist.
sometimes our imagination plays a trick on us. In Beauty and the Beast, I was sure there was a scene where we could see what Belle saw when she put the torn painting back together. I was convinced that scene was there, but all we see is Belle's eyes and her reaction. my mind played a trick on me.

Strangely enough, I remember such a scene, although it could be my mind playing a trick on me as I'm pretty sure what I actually saw was a picture of him in a book getting changed into the monkey disguise. I probably just assumed it was also in the movie. Don't remember what book it was though, so who knows...

I'm sure I can remember such a scene. Guess the only way to be sure is to ask someone who was actually involved oin the movie. Anyone who knows if it is possible to concact Ollie Johnston?

I own a 35mm print of this film, and there is no such scene in the movie. Again it is really wishful thinking on our part that there are certain things in movies that never are.
"The Jungle Book" is one of my favorite stories, and I own all versions ever made, including the beautiful version with Sabu.
Sorry, but that scene just doesn't exist.

I don't recall that scene. Your post made me think of Little John (has same bear model as Baloo) in Robin Hood when he and Robin disguise themselves as women while running towards Prince John's carriage.Rumpelstiltskin wrote:When Baloo dresses like an ape by using a wig, a cocoonut and a skirt, we don't see him take this on. I think Rumpelstiltskin has got Robin Hood and The Jungle Book mixed up, because I remeber that scene where they're dressing up as the gypsies.[/quote]Rumpelstiltskin wrote:
