I saw a copy of Beauty and the Beast at Eckerd's a few months back and it had a slipcover.

Also at Wal-Mart today half the Sleeping Beauty's still had slipcovers.

Well at Best Buy, there were about 8 Lion King dvds (original movie) and only 2 had slipcovers! Plus, a lady picked one up to buy one, and she picked the one without the slipcover! :o

the topic "i've got some unofficial dvd dates" seems to say that Home on the Range and Hidalgo will have slipcovers. Also, Is HOTR the last animated classic? I heard something bout that.

Our FYE here shut down unexpectedly. Odd.

I've seen a few SB here and there that still have slipcovers. I'm debating buying a few to keep and later resale. What do you think?

Post by MisterMalificent »

I called 6 different best Buys and all of them say that they have about 40 sleeping beuty DVD's with the slip covers and a few without, I picked mine up yesterday and saw in person that they have a bucnh of slip-covered DVD's. So check your local best buy if your in the search for one.

Does anyone know A place that has beauty and the beast DVD's , I know it OOP but so was sleeping beauty but best buy has a bunch.

My local Disney store had about 8-10 copies of 'Beauty and the Beast' as of this past weekend.

You might want to try a Disney Store if you have one near you. I found some BATB DVDs at a Blockbuster

Sleeping Beauty

Post by Disney Guru »

Sleeping Beauty DVD'S can still be purchased off Amazon.com. Even though it is out of print they still have a few copies left. As far as the BATB you can find it almost anywhere.

I don't think that's true... at least not where I am. I found one copy (new) at Blockbuster a few months ago. But Blockbuster tends to have lots of over-priced DVDs now out of print, that no one ever bought, so everyone can always check there.

Well, I think they're mainly just common at places that aren't so big. You're much more likely to find them at drug stores and the like than places like Wal-Mart and Best Buy.

A couple months ago I saw a copy of BatB at Eckerd's (with slipcover), and then last month when I went to the Disney store they had them there. It was funny because there was an employee holding up BatB, Sleeping Beauty, and a couple others saying "Get them before they go into the vault!". I was almost tempted to say "Hey, didn't Beauty and the Beast go in the vault last year?" :P

So I'm Curious (Slip-Cover Related) ....

How all of you take care of your Slip Covers. Our Disney films get so much play (okay, that didn't come out the way I intended) that had I left them on they most certainly would be frayed and damaged by now.

So...when I purchase a DVD with a Slip Cover I remove it from the packaging and keep it separate from the actual case. I love these things, but felt I had to remove them to avoid wearing them down on corners and such.

Anyone else employ a similar or different separation tactic?

My slip covers don't get separated from their dvd case, because I have more chance of harming them that way. I'm just very very careful. Also, I am the only one allowed to touch them.. MUHAHAHAHA

Well, mine have always stayed in the contition I originally bought them in, without my seperating them from the keepcase. So I personally don't see a need to have the keepcase seperate.

originally i took my Beauty and the Beast keepcase off and seperated it because i thought that i would be receiving a wonderful display box to hold all three B&B dvds. however, once i received a check and a note saying that they were sold out, , i went ahead and put it back on. all of my slipcases are on their dvds and i play them pretty often. i don't have a lot of kids around my dvd collection so that MAY be a difference. my dvd slipcases, though, have held out extremely well. i don't even think there are scratch marks on them. my original thought when i got the first slipcase movie was that yeah it would tear or bend or crack, but that it would serve its purpose of keeping the amaray case pristine. they are tougher than you might think but if you feel comfortable storing them in seperate places i would totally see where you're coming from.

I don't really care about the slip covers.. if it's not in the case, it's not a core part of the DVD as far as I'm concerned.

I usually just take them off and stick them somewhere for storage, but don't keep them with the discs.

The inital post to this thread has been updated to reflect the slipcover information for Alice and TLK1½.

My theroy is that Disney only produces slipcovers for a few months and then just quietely stops. Since Beauty and the Beast was only in print 4 months (October, November, December, January 2002-2003) it seems likely that all copies had the slip. If a copy doesn't, it probably did at some point and something happened to it.

I keep all my slipcovers on the packaging, but I use a flannel when I get them, so there won't be any fingerprints. :)

Call me crazy...

but I get those plastified with contact transparent plastic, so they get harder and well protected forever. Besides I'm the only one who uses those DVD's
:!:

Well I've only done that to Snow White's R4 Digipack and Sleeping Beauty R1 Slip Cover... and I'll do that as soon as I get Alice in Wonderland.
