Most of the games, tv, music and movies that has been blamed for violent kids, I have played/watched/listened to. I play shoot-em up role playing games and listen to hard core metal. But I am not a violent person. I know the difference between fantasy and reality and I was raised by good parents who instilled in me life lessons about how others should be treated. Kids who are violent tend to be missing something at home.
Well, I realize this is the case, but WHY has it come to this? Why is society an "anything goes" place now where even prime time network television is full of adult-content themes? I don't have any children, but I watch my 2 sisters raising theirs and how they have to be cognizant of everything they watch! It is crazy. I'm sorry I just can't fully agree that it is ONLY the parent's responsibility to raise or watch for everything. You'd have to be super-parent, or stay-at-home parent, to manage it. (for those of you who want to talk politics here, wasn't it Hillary who said, "It Takes a Village"?)
I hate to beat a dead horse here (and we know they would not show such a thing on Animal Planet

).... When I was a kid, my mom had to work and would not have had the time to police what I watched. If you have a cable box and know how to block channels, great. But if you are a poor family using the rabbit ears and have to work, your kids have access to all this adult content... its just sad. I realize the world has changed a lot since I grew up in the 1960s-1970s - the computers, I guess we can't go backwards, but I think something as simple as putting "Family Guy" on later at night - is that much to ask for?! Someone here even mentioned that its on "Adult Swim" on the Cartoon Network, and that is where it should be.
I don't mind the politics - you guys just don't get too personal and attack each other to the point where you can't even have fun here in the forums. Lars is right - yes, we do have other parties - anyone can create one, but I think everyone remembers what happened when Ross Perot ran and then in the 2000 election with Nader. In essence, 3rd parties just aren't viable and the media shuts them out of the debates anyway. Both the Dems and Repubs have their negative aspects - there is no answer, IMO.
No offense to those of you who enjoy Family Guy - you're adults (assuming here) and have a right to enjoy whatever type of comedy you want.
