i called told them i needed slipcovers they were damaged (which they werent, just without them) and when she said you will have to send them in, i said i heard about the number and already threw them out. she said this once i can get away with it but otherwise i could not. and it worked

Ridiculous that you can get them if yours is damaged but not if you simply didn't get one! Especially since some stores seem to just take them off, as I notice Best Buy does when they put DVDs on sale (even when the slipcover is important, like the special edition Napoleon Dynamite, which looks lik the title is "Vote for Pedro" if the slipcover is removed).

I'm so annoyed, because suddenly the 2-disc Pocahontas is everywhere at a new low price and WITH the slipcover. When I finally got mine, quite a while ago, I not only had to pay 20 dollars (think I got it at Target), but it had no slipcover either!!!


Incidentally, if anyone here just doesn't care for slipcovers and buys that one, please send it my way! (slave2moonlight@yahoo.com) I need a few others too, but I'd have to look them up. I think one is Kronk's New Groove, and another is one of the Lion King sequels. I forget which.

argh! i called again today and told a new lady that my slipcovers were damaged, but had thrown them out, like potterrules93 did, but she still wouldn't send any to me because she said that they have very limited quantities. i tried reasoning with her but no dice.

if anyone can sweet talk a sales rep into sending them my missing slipcovers, i would be very grateful if you could send them to me. (shipping on me of course!) or if you have these covers at home and don't want them, that's even simpler!

I called the lady and told her I didn't have a slipcover for my Pocahontas 2-disc, and everything was going fine until I mentioned I bought it online and she said "We don't refund for movies bought online" And she hangs up. I was so pissed and now I can't seem to find a slipcover at all. Any recommendations?

I've seen a lot of (now) rare slipcovers in the used bin covering used DVDs at stores that carry used DVDs. Perhaps that would be an option for those of you missing some slipcovers. Perhaps you could get them to sell you just the slip; or they may even just give it to you since they can sell the DVD without it. If worse comes to worse, you could always buy the DVD, remove the slip, and sell it back for a small loss.

I feel relieved that my slipcover collection is complete for all the DVDs I have that are supposed to have slipcovers.

I've had the best luck finding used out of print Disney DVDs at FYE, Sam Goody, and Wherehouse (all owned by the same parent company).

Note that the quantity of used Disney DVDs can vary widely from store to store, but some of the FYEs I've been to have had FANTASTIC selections both of OOP titles as well as current titles with rare slipcovers.

As recently as last month, I've seen used Snow White Platinum Edition, Lion King PE (with slip), Jungle Book Limited Edition, Robin Hood Gold Collection, several other OOP Gold collection titles used at FYEs, as well as rare slips like Alice In Wonderland ME, Finding Nemo, and Mary Poppins, all used.

Game Stop and Game Trader type places often carry used DVDs as well although some stores in those type chains no longer offer used DVDs. It seems to be a store by store decision.

Ocasionally I'll run into an "independent" CD/DVD store that caries a nice selection of used Disney. I was in Ohio in September to do the theme parks up there and there's a little store right off Main Street in Kent near the university that had Lion King PE with slipcover as well as Finding Nemo with slipcover and I think Poppins - all used.

Also, a lot of the newer but disapearing slipcovers for in-print DVDs can still be found new - you just have to look really hard.

I've seen Bambi and Lady and the Tramp PEs NEW with slipcovers this summer at a few FYEs at a time when the disc themselves had already disappeared from the shelves in the likes of Wal Mart and Best Buys.

I am from New Orleans (although I've spent most of the last two years in Orlando) and in NO we have a chain called Major Video that has a very good selection of NEW Disney DVDs, often after they go OOP, and they also tend to have the slipcovers long after they've dissapeared elsewhere.

About 2 months ago I spotted about 5 or 6 copies of Alice In Wonderland NEW with a slipcover at one of the NO area Major videos, as well as several others new with a slip - all the Pixars except Monsters Inc which never had one, the Tarzan and TENG inferior one disc versions, Mulan, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Cinderella, etc.

Ironically I've never made the rounds hunting for used OOP DVDs in Orlando as whenever I have free time there, I visit the parks!

how hard is it to find slicovers for robin hood, fox and the hound, and dumbo. i saw them all with slips in perfect edition at target and did not buy them...should i have??

very hard, Mary Poppins 40th Anniversary, Toy Story 10 Anniversary, and High School Musical Remixed Edition, all have missing slipcovers.

Rite Aid of all places had Toy Story 10 Anniversary w/slipcover, and for a cheap price too.

The only Disney DVD that I own which I left the slipcover on was the Jungle Book, and that was only because the ugly redstrip on the back of the cover art advertising the rewards club can be seen on the spine of the disc and Baloo's face gets cut off too. It looks terrible without the SC.

Not surprising, but a local video store had Peter Pan in Return To Neverland, the Pixie Power edition out early and yes it has a slip cover if you want to add that in. I already picked up my copy there.

Some stores have the slipcovers on them, while others don't, my geuss is why some stores don't have them is that either their shipment of DVD's didn't come with slipcovers or they decide not to put the covers on the DVD's.

Someone had posted at some point here in the forums (maybe buried in the 17 pages of this thread) that they suspect that after a certain period of time, Disney stops shipping them with slip covers. This seems to make sense to me because if you're an American you notice that at the beginning when a new movie comes out, all of them in the stores have slip covers. The longer the movie stays out, then you begin to notice the stores only have copies without the slipcovers. It would seem logical that what is happening is when the stores run out and get in new stock from Disney, the later shipping of these movies come without slip covers. It is just a theory but it seems to hold up. So to ensure you get a slip cover, pick up the movie within a few months of its release.

As for Toy Story 10th Anniversary - seeing one with a slip cover today would be a rare find. I don't have the movie yet, would like to obtain it with a slip cover, but have never seen it in the stores with one since I've been looking. I've pretty much accepted the fact that when I finally get a copy of this movie, it will not have a slip cover. There's a whole thread here about how to call Disney Customer service and request a slip cover. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Seriously if you Americans are serious about about having slip covers you should come to Canada (well more specifically, since I can't speak for Canada as a whole, you should come to North Bay, Ontario) because everything still has slip covers. My house is always open to fellow UD'ers
