I usually do, but I wasn't going to this time, give into spoilers. But I had to watch the clips. I love this movie, I love the songs, I love Giselle- she definitely will become a real Disney Princess. I'm filled with happy sunshine right now- those clips were amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Disney's Enchanted

Post by Disney Duster »

Princess Homages!

I can't believe no one has noticed that when the pigeons tie Giselle's bow behind her back in the "Happy Working Song", it's just like when the bluebirds do it for Cinderella in her attic before getting to work!

And, can you find this little homage to another princess movie in "Enchanted" (you can find it in some leaked images on the net)?:

I definitely noticed homages to Snow White and Cinderella. But I don't want to give spoilers (and it's obvious if you watch it!)!

There's an obvious one to "The Sound of Music" in the 'How Does She Know' clip too, as well as a visual reference to 'Kiss The Girl' from "The Little Mermaid".

I had my doubts about this film at first, but after learning that Barry Sonnenfeld was a producer, and now seeing these two clips, I'm definitely going to see this one at the theater instead of waiting for the DVD release.

Another thing I really like what I've seen of this film so far is the whole "breaking into song" satire. Live-action musicals can be particularly annoying to me because they're so far removed from reality. This movie acknowledges that it's fictional because it's a musical, but keeps an edge of realism because all the surrounding characters are mostly street performers. If you've ever been to places like Central Park in NYC or the boardwalk at Savanah, GA at sunset, there are some musicians and performers so skilled at improv they can make a song or dance out of anything.

And Patrick Dempsey's character in the 'How Does She Know' number reminds me of the Saturday Night Live sketch where one of Norm McDonald's apparent worst nightmares comes to life where he's stuck in a scene from "West Side Story". It makes for much hilarity, and it seems like this will be a recurring element in "Enchanted", which will help win over the "I hate musicals" people who are either dragged to this movie on a date or with their kids.

I thought of belle at that part, but that bit in batb was based of the sound of music, so potato potato,
Btw, does one of those street preformers have a candleabra on her head?

What do you mean?
That you can use the avater if you want :D (i don't know when i"ll use it).
Also more Princess homages:
Giselle is calling the animales like Aurora.
Giselle is runing in the park like Belle.
Giselle is holding an umbrela that look like the one Mulan have in Honor To Us All.

also notice Giselle says "this will never do" which is exactly what Snow White said before "Whistle While you Work".

rs_milo_whatever, I, for one, was probably too excited to be watching clips from the movie that I overlooked what you wrote!

I'm hoping the movie does as well as Disney is expecting it to do. As long as the sequel has animation in it, I'm all for it. Maybe Disney's own 2D department (if they re-form it) can do the animation this time.
And, as long as the sequel will have great music, I'm all for it again!

i'm not sure if i'm gonna want a sequel; lately sequels are an insult to fandom, especially in disney asise from pirates of the caribbean

Well, let just hope this red-head dosen't get an annoying brat for a child in her sequel. It's too late for Ariel.

Okay, no more sarcasim. As long as it's a good, faithful sequel, I'll be okay with it. But from what I've heard, this movie should end with "The End". Wouldn't be funny though, if the sequels were homage to the princesses's sequels!?

You know, people think that Happily Ever After means that they didn't have even one small promblem, well,Happily Ever After means that they just had better life-Cinderella lived in the castle,Mulan saved china, etc.,not a perfactly perfact life.

i actually LOVED the pirates sequals.
the original will always be classic in my mind.
but the sequals most certainly never ruined it for me.

anyways, i hope they don't make a sequal to enchanted, though.
some movies need to just be left alone.
imagine a sequal to like.. mary poppins. :headshake:
