Rafiki the Movie???

Post by REINIER »

hi folks, just stumbled upon the wikipdia site that claims that among the soon to be released direct to dvd premieres
(ariel's begiining, tinkerbell movie)
there is also a ''rafiki the movie in the pipeline.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Di ... ideo_films

knowing this site is usually bogus, i just wondered wether someone has any insight into this rather odd occurence, since it was this same site that once stated that the direct to dvd's would end with tink in 2008??
When it comes to brains, I got the lion-share,
but when it comes to bruth strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool

Yeah, uh, never ever trust wikipedia. Any goofball with a computer and time can make anything seem factual.

Actually, the Rikki movie isn't coming out. Some idiot on Wikipedia is trying to vandal or edit so he can get blocked. But, don't worry, we revert into the previous edit.

I don't know now. Maybe this really would be a good idea!

The story could revolve around his years before Simba was born. The story could involve things like how he gained the trust of the lions as a profit or something so they wouldn't eat him. Why he's the only baboon in the area. The origins of the stick. Most importantly though, the pressures of being Disney's first transgender character, of course this would probably be a special feature or something. It could finally explain how becoming a woman for the broadway production really was. The exclusive meetings between him and Michael Eisner about how they could make the transition as easy for him as possible. Eisner's so sweet like that...

Why would they make Rafiki a female in the Broadway show?!?! That makes no sense to me.

Rafiki IS a female in the Broadway show. Julie Taymor decided to do so because she felt (arguably so) that the story lacked any developed female characters apart from Nala.

I highly doubt they would do a Rafiki movie. If they did, I bet it would be as bad as all the other Direct to Video sequels.

I gathered that he's a female in the play by what singerguy04 said, but I was just wondering why. That makes sense, though, SHJ, not having any other developed female characters. I guess I just don't like the idea. Maybe they could've expanded Sarabi's part? If someone (especially a child) watches the Broadway play and then watches the movie (or vice-versa), they might get confused and feel uneasy. I guess I'm just weird, but they changed his gender!!! Does she still say "Asante sana, squash banana" at least?!?

This is so worng and if anyone think that they are actually making it is living in a fantasy world.
Anyway, what do they have about Rafiki? there's children about Scar's and Mufasa's childhood, there's nothing to tell.
