At first I was extremely upset about the B&TB DVD because I paid $30 for a freakin' FAKE! But now I'm not so pissed anymore. :D

I have filed a complaint with eBay AND Paypal concerning this seller! When I bought the DVD the guy had 100% feedback, now he has only 96% and 2 negatives for FAKE B&TB DVDs! What an ass, selling illegal copies on eBay is VERY serious. He has 20 days to respond to the open dispute that I filed with Paypal. If he doesn't respond within those 20 days PayPal will review the dispute and decide the outcome.

Of course in the end I will end up getting my FULL refund which I am thrilled about. That is why I ALWAYS use Paypal, the security protection is the best.

Take that biatch seller! :x

Hi. I had a situation once where I had to file a PayPal dispute because of a purchase of an out of print DVD set had two copies of disc 1..

The had me fax in a letter from someone who was familiar with the item in question to verify it was not as described.. I thought I would have problems, but I took it into a store and the manager signed a letter head indicating there were two discs.. They eventually found in my favor..

PayPal instructed me to mail back the set and get a tracking number to get a refund..

But if they want someone to verify your copy is a fake, I hope you find someone locally that is as knowledgeable of some people on this board..

Hm.
I, also HATE people who make "copies" and sell them. It is wrong!

My B&TB: The Enchanted Christmas looks like yours except the corners are not well rounded, so I don't think mine is fake.(at least I pray to god it isn't since I got it used at MovieStop.)

Hi, thank you for telling me this. I'm not sure who I can get to verify my copy is a fake (if Paypal instructs this). Couldn't I also take it into a store? The Disney Store even for that matter?

I have a question about the B&TB one.
Is the well rounded part the only thing that shows it's a fake?

Hi. I think PayPal would required this 3rd party verification if the seller replies to the dispute stating that it's not a fake.. If the seller doesn't respond, I believe it's automatically in your favour (?)..

Thanks for the info. I doubt the seller is going to respond (which is what I'm hoping for). Other people seem to be complaining and not getting any responses from him. And yes, if the seller doesn't respond it is automatically in my favour. I remember a long time ago I had a dispute over an item and I got refunded automatically cause the seller wasn't replying.

I received an email this morning from the eBay seller. He apologizes for everything and states that he bought the DVDs new and was assured that they all were originals. He had no idea that he was selling bootlegs. He said he is more than happy to issue me a full refund, he just wanted to know exactly what was wrong with it. I'm hoping I will get the full refund today, I honestly wonder though if he would have contacted me if I hadn't filed a complaint with Paypal.

Oh well, I guess in the end he really got screwed over too.

Nice to know you got your refund. Just be more careful when shopping for dvds. That's why I never buy off Ebay.

The thing is, I have never once had a problem before concerning bootlegs. I have won tons of DVDs on eBay too. I'm still going to try and find Disney DVDs on eBay, just with SUPER careful precaution now.

As a personal rule, I never buy DVDs off ebay. I can usually get a better price from a specialist online DVD store anyway, which are obviously going to be genuine.
I can understand the temptation to use ebay though when the DVD you're looking for is out of print. I missed a few disney DVDs myself when they first came out, but I've decided to wait until they're rereleased anyway rather that pay more than they're worth for a DVD that will be not only rereleased, but improved on in a few years time.

It is a better idea though to look in used DVD stores, as you can actually examine the item personally, rather than go by the pictures and description given online, which are going to be biased, as after all, the seller wants you to buy their item, so they make their item look good, even when it isn't.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice! Do you mind posting some of the online DVD stores that you visit and trust?

You know what? I'm almost tempted to bid on it just for the case. I already have authentic discs so I could just throw the fake ones away and put the real ones inside. My copy of Snow White's case is in pretty rough condition. I'm also a big fan of continuity in my collections and the slim case would match the rest of my Disney DVDs. I could care less about the slipcover though...

Nah, 50+ dollars just to make the self more homogeneous is a bit crazy...

Hi Princess Rosie!

I'd love to share some of the sites I buy DVDs from, but as I live in Europe, they sell region 2 DVDs, and I assume you're looking for region 1 DVDs. There are loads of great sites out there though that sell region 1 DVDs at great prices if you look, and of course Amazon is always a great place to start. Bootlegs do sometimes show up on Amazon, but there's generally more control over what's sold on Amazon than ebay though, so you should be OK.

If your Beauty and the Beast has a metallic-like finish on the front cover, it's real. If it doesn't it's fake.
