Which DVDs Are You Going to Buy on 11/13/07?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

No immediate purchases for me. Eventually I will be getting "DuckTales" and "TaleSpin" and probably Shrek the Third. I am also likely to get the new It's a Wonderful Life DVD, though I want to read reviews and wait for a good price on it. Might also consider giving The Princess Bride a blind buy (no, I have never seen it).

Gilmore Girls: S7, Ocean's Thirteen, and Shrek the Third (reluctantly); Talespin: V2 and Ducktales:V3 probably next year unless there is a really good sale.

I never made it to the theater to see "Oceans 13" but I heard it was excellent, and I really liked the other ones. I'll probably go ahead and rent this movie first before I commit to a purchase, but I'm sure I will enjoy it.

Never saw the Princess Bride? Sheesh Aaron, I'm starting to wonder about you now. Didn't like Transformers the movie, Transformer toys as a kid, Bram Stoker's Dracula and haven't seen the Princess Bride! :lol:

Why must there be another Princess Bride DVD? Especially after I just got the "Dread Pirate Roberts" edition.

"The Princess Bride" for sure. I have yet to actually buy this, so I might as well now.

"Close Encounters" maybe... I like the movie, but I can't say how often I'd watch it.

"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" The Ultimate Edition features all three versions of the movie. It has the "long lost" original theatrical version of the movie, the extended version, and the Director's Cut. Should be quite the collection to have. Also I will be getting "Ocean's 13", "Shrek the Third", and "Talespin Volume 2".

:lol: Yeah but I have a hunch I will like Princess Bride... I'm told it is similar in tone to Holy Grail and Mel Brooks, all of which I love. I've seen parts of TPB, just never in full.

And to answer your related question from another thread, I never was really into toys at all as a child. I always spent my time and money with books, movies, and music (not much has changed). However, I did like action figures (Batman, Star Trek, wrestling, a few others). I'll readily admit those were somewhat lame, though, and wouldn't advocate a movie based on "Star Trek" action figures :P.

I won't be purchasing all of these immediately, but these are the ones I definitely would like to get:

Shrek the Third
Ocean's Thirteen
The Princess Bride: 20AE (LOVED this as child, mostly because I'm a huge wrestling fan and it was cool to see Andre the Giant in it! :lol:)
"DuckTales": V3
"TaleSpin": V2
"Gilmore Girls": S7 or TCS
It's a Wonderful Life: CS

Aaron's never seen Princess Bride? Inconceivable! :o ;)

I'm picking up Close Encounters, Ocean's Thirteen (which means I need to find a cheapie copy of Ocean's Twelve....) and Amazing Grace for my mom.

For the record Takespin and Ducktales are a $1 lower at Best Buy Canada than Best Buy US.
