Movies Disney Channel needs to air or re-air

Post by jediliz »

What Disney movies (not movies like Harry Potter that's NOT Disney) need to air/premiere for the first time on Disney? Or Re-Air?

1) The Incredibles - They haven't aired this yet. Its been out for two years on DVD. This fall is three years since it was in theaters.

2) Bambi, Snow White, Pinocchio, etc - Come on, how many kids are going to grow up watching Disney Channel and not ever see these movies on the Disney Channel?

3) Toy Story. How long as it been since this movie has aired on Disney? How about Toy Story 2? A Bugs Life? Finding Nemo?

4) Movies longer than 2 hours long (excluding Harry Potter movies). I remember once a few years ago (within the last 7 years) that Disney Channel aired "Heidi" w/ Jane Seymour. Sure, it WAS aired over two nights, but still, they aired it.

5) Parent Trap (Haley Mills and NOT the TV sequels, the real one). Pollyanna (has aired on Hallmark, but not Disney?), Babes in Toyland (perfect around Christmas holiday time), Pete's Dragon, Mary Poppins

Is Disney too focused on tweens and teens and not on movies for everyone?

Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but I get tired of the same movies airing over and over and over again. That twitches too movie is airing this week AND next week, I know its the latest movie, but sheesh........air something different for once, Disney.

I am sure that Disney won't be airing PoA I bet (its too scary) and definitely not GoF due to the PG-13 Rating.

Case in Point: Ice Princess & Sky High both aired first on ABC Family before Disney aired them.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Unless I'm mistaken, "Snow White" has never been aired on TV...

I don't care too much about the state of things. I kinda like seeing the DCOMs every now and then, but it doesn't bug me too too much.

I'm happy enough with Toon Disney playing some classics now and then. I caught The Rescuers on today and got excited. Personally, I think it'd be cool if they did Snow White on ABC for it's upcoming anniversary!

I remember Bambi planned for ABC but got cut off due to a National fundraiser or something. Cinderella appeared on Disney Channel, along with Dumbo, Toy Story, Resucers Down Under. Totaly agree that Snow White, Pinocchio, Jungle Book should appear on Disney Channel, it'd be unexpected too.

Little chance of that happening. ABC prefers to waste time airing NASCAR and College Football.

Alice in Wonderland is usually always on Disney Channel around Easter time...for some odd reason.

I saw it air couple of times during the summer/spring season too. Especialy on Disney Channel, thought that was really special cause I was impressed by thime gambling Cinderella, Aladdin and Dumbo on Disney Channel, but I was taken by surpised to see Alice on Disney Channel, I loved that moment. now if Disney can be smart bout showing off Pinocchio.

all the animated classics.
they've got to stop with the DCOMs.
or maybe show those less and show more REAL disney movies.
and definately stop showing movies which aren't even disney.

and they've got to show pirates.
at least the first one.
:ears: I heart Disneyland :ears:

I personally LOOOOVE the DCOMS. I do think Disney should air its television assets more rather than air non-disney stuff or too many reruns of the 'tween shows. I know there is a market for Suite Life and Hannah Montana, but there is also a HUGE untapped market for vintage Disney! I know the topic has been brought up on the boards before, but I"ll say it again, "We have the Disney channel, and Toon Disney, we so need a Vintage Disney channel"!

Anyway, the stuff i'd like to see aired on Disney more are:

Heidi
Great Expectations
Earth*Star Voyager
Parent Trap Sequels
Avonlea television series
The Green Gables films
The Fluppy Dog Movie
The Boogedy films (just in time for Halloween)
Return to Treasure Island
Friendship in Vienna

pretty much ANY Disney Channel film, or Magical World of Disney movie. Most of the theatrical stuff is available on DVD or VHS. Those old Disney TV movies are completely UNAVAILABLE!!!! Please air them again......at least start up Vault Disney again!!!!!

Its a little scary for Disney to air. I know its in theatres as 3D, but I haven't heard or seen anything about it airing on Disney......... just checked my TV Guide. Its airing the 24th. But why does Disney have to air Twitches Too twice next week? (Airs Monday & Thursday

I personally feel that airing Disney classics (things like Snow White) on TV would very much cheapen them. It might not be so bad on ABC, but definitely not on the Disney Channel. That's only for the mundane.

how does it cheapen them? A lot of the classics are OOP on DVD (and won't be released or re-released for a few years). Why does TOON DISNEY (a channel that not everyone gets - I get it but rarely watch it) get to air movies like Hercules or Alice in Wonderland or Rescuers when Disney Channel won't?
